Summary for this ficlet: Dr. Light attacks Mia and Dawn at their school.


Dawn was running. As soon as she had seen the spheres of light she had known who it was.

The very same person who had blown up Ollie’s house after Roy had been kidnapped.

She had to find Mia. Together they were stronger as two members of the Titans then without.

“Mia!” Dawn shouted over the hundreds of screaming teenagers, all panicking as their friends fell all around them.

Then she caught a flash of blonde hair, heading up the stairs to the roof, and Dawn sprang into motion, following as quickly as she could, pushing through the crowd.

The doors to the roof slammed shut before she could get to them, and Dawn swore, turning to keep her back on the wall, so she could see the balls of light as they came. Suddenly, one zeroed in on her, and she knew she only had one chance to escaped before the light stabbed through her, taking her life with it.

“J’onn, I need teleportation now!” she screamed into her JLA earpiece.

White light surrounded her, but as Dawn fell to her knees on the teleporter pad, her vision going dark as blood dripped down her school shirt, she knew she hadn’t been quick enough.

Then she slumped over, hard, onto the metal floor of the Watchtower, wondering absentmindedly as feet stampeded towards her, why it was always the shoulder wounds with her.
