Summary: Buffy hesitates.

AN: I do hope that no one was upset with the darkness and violence of the first chapter. This chapter will be less violent but still dark.

AN: This is not a bashing story, but an extrapolation of what might have happened if things had gone just a tad off canon.

AN – Thoughts \\I am thinking.//

It was over.

Her attacker was dead.

She’d been staring blankly since the killing blow had been administered.

Her arms blazed with fire as the previously restricted blood flowed freely in her veins again. The pain didn’t even register on her numbed mind. None of her aches and pains from her struggle were consciously noticeable as her mind tried to process what had happened.

The only coherent thought being, \\Wrong! It’s all wrong!//

Eventually, the horror of the whole event got to her and she slipped to her hands and knees and began to empty her stomach until there was nothing left. Even then she continued to dry heave for several minutes.

When she finally recovered enough to think simple thoughts, she rose on unsteady legs so she could go report what happened. She took it slow because every step caused stabs of pain reminding her of what had happened to her.

She deliberately avoided looking towards the side of the room where the struggle took place and where it ended. To look upon the scene would only cause her to break down again and she had to get to the Library for help. After all, he hadn’t been the only one. There were others that needed to be dealt with.

She met no one on her way to the Library even though it seemed to take her forever to get there. Then again, she was startled when she found herself outside the Library doors as though she had just appeared there rather than walking to them.

Of course she’d been focused on a single mantra-like thought which allowed her to keep moving toward her destination without really noticing her surroundings, \\It wasn’t him.//

AN: Please be patient. Revelations are at hand.
