Buffy noticed that the closer the two of them got, the more tense Clark became. Buffy looked closer at the two that were heading toward them. Buffy also noticed that the girl was looking at Clark, where as the guy was looking at her. It was a little creepy, but Buffy knew she could handle it. She also noticed how tense Clark was by the time the two of them had stopped at their table.
“Clark it's good to see you around town.”
“Lex, Lana. How are the wedding plans going?”
“They're going great. I hope you can come Clark. I know that Lex and I would love for you to come.”
“We'll have to see. Who knows, something may come up to keep me from showing up.”
“Now Clark, you don't want to give your new friend the impression that you're a sore loser, do you?”
“I don't see him as a sore loser, I see you as a sore winner Mr. Luther. Clark I think it's time to leave. I've had my fill of coffee and town today.”
“You haven't even touched your coffee Miss...”
“Forget it. If you want my name, you'll have to figure it out yourself.” Buffy stood up and walked out of the Talon. She didn't even wait to see if Clark followed her. She just needed to get out of there.
Clark smiled at Buffy's exit from the Talon. The tension he had been feeling ever since Lex and Lana had walked in. Clark signaled to the waitress and asked her to put their coffees into to-go cups for him. Clark noticed that Lex had watched Buffy leave the Talon. He never returned his attention toward the table he was sitting at. Clark also noticed that Lana had never taken her eyes off of him. Clark was angry that Lana and Lex had paid more attention to him and Buffy instead of each other. He was just glad that Buffy didn't fall for Lex's charm.
Clark watched as the waitress brought the coffees to him. He took the coffees from her and thanked her. He turned toward Chloe and Lois and said good-bye before following Buffy outside. She was pacing up and down in front of the Talon. He didn't know if her anxiety was from Lex and Lana or from having to get into the truck again. Clark waited until she calmed down before he reached her coffee toward her. He noticed that Buffy looked up to see him holding her coffee out to her. Clark just smiled at her.
“How about a walk around town?”
“I'd like that.”
They walked around town in silence. Every once in a while, Clark would point something out to her. Buffy would nod like she was paying attention to hem, but she was thinking about his so called friends. It irritated her that they were engaged to each other, but they were staring at her and Clark like they wanted them. Buffy couldn't believe they were more interested in them and not each other. She couldn't help but feel jealous, even though Clark had paid no attention to his so called friends. It also didn't help that Lex gave her the creeps. Buffy shook her head and found that the walk had cleared her head. She felt a lot calmer than she had when she had first left the Talon.
Buffy noticed that they were back at the truck. She also noticed that both her and Clark had finished their coffees while they were walking around the town. Buffy just shook her head and headed toward the passenger side of the truck. She just had to get out of town. Clark must have realized it as well, because he went to the driver's side of the truck. He waited for her to get in the truck before he got in behind the wheel of the truck.
“You aren't ready to go back to the farm yet are you?” Clark asked before starting the truck.
“There's something I want to show you.”
“Okay.” Buffy looked at Clark as he started the truck and headed out of town. Buffy recognized the direction they were headed from the night before.
