The Meeting

Disclaimer: DO NOT OWN BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER OR SMALLVILLE.

Buffy stared out the window of the car her mom drove. There was only wheat and corn for all the world to see. She still didn't understand why her mother was bringing her here to this place. All she knew was that they were visiting a friend of her mother's. They had gone to college together and had been extremely close until Buffy had turned 11 years old. They had drifted apart after Cecilia had died in the hospital. Buffy shook her head and tried to focus on the scenery.

"Are you okay honey?"

"Yeah I'm fine. I'm just trying to figure out why you decided that we needed to come to Kansas."

"Once Mr. Giles figured out that your abilities weren't from being the Slayer, I figured we needed to get away for awhile. Besides I haven't seen Martha since you were 11. She never even knew that your father and I got a divorce."

"Alright mom, I'll stop wondering and enjoy the trip."

"Good. Now why don't try to rest, it'll be another couple of hours before we get to Smallville."

"Okay." Buffy leaned back against the headrest and closed her eyes. She hadn't planned on falling asleep, but she did the moment her eyes closed.

~~~Dream~~~
Buffy walked into the library looking for Giles. He had left her a message saying that he needed to see her as soon as possible. He had some answers about why she kept getting stronger instead of her powers staying the same like every slayer before her. Buffy looked around the library and saw a couple of new people sitting there. One was a brunette, maybe one or two years younger than her. The other looked like a younger version of Giles. Buffy had a feeling that this was Kendra's replacement. What Buffy didn't understand was why they were here in Sunnydale. Buffy had a feeling that she wasn't going to like what Giles was about to tell her.
"Ah Buffy, I'm glad you could make it."
"What's up Giles?"
"The Watcher's Council has discovered that your powers are not Slayer related."
"How?"
"They were curious as to how you could have kept the powers after you had died. They had a coven of witches perform a spell. They found out that the only active Slayer is Faith here. When you died 2 years ago, the Slayer powers were passed to Kendra, and when she died last year, they were passed to Faith."
"So what you're saying is that there was only one Slayer at a time."
"As is has always been."
"I wasn't talking to you mister. I was talking to Giles. Giles what else did the council find out?" Giles took off his glasses and began cleaning them. It was a sure sign that he was nervous about what he had to say.
"Well, um, it seems that your powers um...are not of um...this world."
"Than what or where are they from?" Giles could tell that she was clenching her teeth during that question. He was positive that she wasn't going to like the answer to that question.
"It seems that you are from another planet, but they aren't sure which planet."
"Well than they better find out, because I have a feeling that they aren't going to like it if I get angrier than I already am."
"They are working on it Buffy, but they think that the planet may have been destroyed about 14 years ago."
"Let them know to figure it out. Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to go and take my anger out on the demons and vampires in this town." Buffy turned and stalked out of the library. Faith went to follow her, but Xander and Willow entering the library stopped her from leaving.
Cordelia and Oz crashed into them sending Willow to the ground. Fortunately Willow was too shocked at seeing the two unfamiliar faces to realize that she was on the floor. All four of them just stared at the two new people in the library. None of them knew what to say. It was Cordelia that broke the awkward silence.
"Who are they?" Cordelia asked like she was bored.
Giles introduced Faith and her watcher Wesley to the gang. He than told them everything that he had told Buffy. Willow headed toward her computer while Xander headed toward the bookshelves. Oz and Cordelia sat down at the table and waited for Xander to bring them something to research. Unknown to everyone in the library, Buffy was standing outside the doors listening to them. Buffy shook her head and headed home.
~~~End Dream~~~

Buffy woke up with a start when the car stopped. She looked out the window and noticed that they were in a town. Buffy assumed they were in Smallville, but she thought they were going to a farm. Looking at the drivers side of the car, she noticed that her mother was not in the car. Buffy looked out the window and noticed that her mother was walking toward the car. Buffy wondered how long they had been stopped. She also wondered why they had stopped. She waited for her mother to get back in the car to ask.

"What's going on mom?"

"I just stopped to get directions to the Kent Farm. It's been so long since I've been there, that I wanted to make sure that I knew where I was going. It's weird when I asked for directions, I got this weird look from everyone in the shop. A couple of nice girls gave me directions though."

"So how much longer until we get there?"

"Another 15 to 20 minutes. Don't worry Buffy, you'll be out of the car soon."

"I know mom. I just hate being cooped up. I don't understand it."

"You've been that way ever since your father and I found you. We never understood it, and you've never out grew it."

Buffy nodded and tried to forget about the fact that she had spent the last week in a car. She hated feeling closed in. The doctors had said that she was claustrophobic and she just needed to face her fears, but Buffy knew that something more was going on. There was just something in her past that had made her afraid of being in enclosed spaces. Buffy just hoped that this trip was almost over.

Twenty minutes later they pulled up to a farm house that looked like it had been around for awhile. The barn looked just as old as the house did. Buffy's mom brought the car to a stop next to an old red pickup truck. Her mom had gotten out of the car and was walking toward the door when the door opened and a red headed woman came running out. She was followed by 2 guys. One must have been her husband. He was about 6 feet tall and blond hair. The other was about 4 inches taller than the blond man, brunette and totally hot.

Buffy slowly got out of the car and walked toward her mother. Her mother and the other woman were talking a mile a minute.
At first she thought that they didn't know that there were other people around them, but they soon stopped talking and turned toward them. Buffy's mom introduced her friend as Martha Kent. She than introduced Mrs. Kent to Buffy. Mrs. Kent than introduced her husband Jonathan and her son Clark.

Buffy looked at Clark and couldn't seem to stop looking at him. Buffy felt drawn to him. There was something about him that interested her so much that she almost missed the invitation to lunch or her mom's hesitant answer. Buffy shook her head to clear it and than heard her mother say that Buffy could eat quite a lot. Buffy blushed as she heard Martha say that nobody could eat more than Clark. Buffy noticed that Clark was blushing too. She barely noticed that she was being ushered into the house.
