I don't the X-Men, those belong to Marvel Comics and were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was created By Joss Whedon and all the characters with the BTVS tv series are his as well.
The Thundercats were created by Ted Wolf and currently belong to Warner Brothers, at one point in time Marvel comics did do a run of the them in comics form, althought DC comics do them now.
This is a piece of fanfiction. I make no claim to the characters within it and am not writing this to gain any form of profit. This is mostly done for my own amusement and I hope for the enjoyment for the handfuls of people reading it.
“So when are we going to get these costumes?” the short teen with dyed hair asked after Snyder had walked off.
“Hey, who are you?” Buffy asked him.
“I'm Oz.” the teen said.
“He's in a band.” Cordelia said as an explanation.
“Ah. Well I guess we can go this afternoon. We've got a week until we need to escort but I really want to get this out of the way first thing. Though only Cordelia has a car out of all of us.” Buffy said while gesturing to herself, Xander and Willow.
“I've got a van.” Oz offered.
“That'll work.” Buffy said. “After school then?” She asked everyone.
“Fine.” Cordelia said sullenly.
“Later then.” Buffy said before she, Xander and Willow headed to class.
“Here we are.” Oz said as his van pulled up to a stop.
Cordelia looked at the shop over her sunglasses. “It's no Party Town.” She said derisively.
“Let's not judge until after we've seen what they've got.” Xander said, trying to be diplomatic about the whole situation.
“I agree.” Oz said.
Willow opened the sliding door. “Let's just get this over with. I want to finish my homework before dark.”
Oz looked at Xander as the girls got out of the van. “Is she seeing anyone?”
“Nope.” Xander told him.
“Good.” Oz said before getting out of the van.
“Okay I take it back.” Cordelia said once she got a look at some of the merchandise inside of the costume shop.
“There is a lot of great stuff here but Snyder said we needed to go with a theme.” Buffy said from where she was eyeing a noble woman's dress.
“Perhaps I can be of service.” A British accented voice said from the back of the store. “I'm Ethan, welcome to my shop. Now what is it exactly that you need?”
“We've been...railroaded into escorting a bunch of kids for their trick or treating. They wanted us to dress up with a group theme.
“Well, aside from some medieval clothing there is nothing I have for a group except for one thing.... It's a bit out of date though.” Ethan said with a half smile.
“What have you got?” Xander asked him.
Ethan looked at the young man. He was struck by a momentary sense of Deja vu, but spoke. “Since you'll be escorting children, I have a set of costumes from an older cartoon show, but it's not a complete one.”
“Really?” Oz asked, curious.
Ethan nodded. “It was from a failed live action pilot. Some of the costumes were kept by the actors, but I still have some. They were sent to me by a friend in the business.”
“Well lets see them.” Cordelia half demanded.
“Come with me.” Ethan told them.
The five teens made their way to the back of the shop and Ethan showed them the costumes.
“Woah.” Oz summed up for all of them.
“I agree.” Xander said with a silly grin on his face as he looked at the costume that called to him the most. “I am the tallest.” He said to Oz.
Oz eyed another costume. “I like the wig on this one. I'm in.”
Cordelia eyed one costume...”I like this one. The hair is very eighties but I was already going to get a cat costume in a similar color.”
“Buff, Wills?” Xander asked the other two.
“Fine.” She said. “I can't believe I'll be wearing spandex.”
“Hey, I'm wearing it too.” Xander reminded her.
“Fair is fair.” Buffy said with a sigh.
Xander looked at Ethan and grinned. “We'll take them.”
“Excellent. Let's go ring this up shall we?”
“Buffy you look great.” Joyce said as her daughter came down the stairs. “You did a really good job on the face paint.”
“Thanks mom. I dunno it was like I just knew how I was supposed to look. Plus Xander let me look at his old lunchbox. He can be such a geek sometimes.” She said with a grin.
“Well as long as you kids behave I think I can let your curfew go a little longer tonight.” Joyce told her.
“I talked to Giles mom, the demons take the night off on Halloween. We should mostly be in the clear.” Buffy assured her mother.
“Good. Just be sure to be good okay? I've got an art show I need to attend tonight.” Joyce told her daughter.
“I promise I'll behave mom.” Buffy told her.
There was a knock on the door.
“That would be Xander and Oz.” Buffy said.
Joyce opened the door. “Oh my.” she said as she took in Xander's costume.
“Just call me Tygra, Mrs. Summers.” Xander said.
“And I'm Wilykat.” Oz said.
“I think I remember this cartoon. You guys look great in your costumes.” Joyce said.
“Thanks.” Oz said. His height was just right for once.
“Let's go get Willow.” Buffy said.
And they were off.
“Well we're all here.” Cordelia said to Snyder as the van pulled up.
“Good. An hour and a half of escorting the kids then you're free.” Snyder told her before walking off.
“Asshole.” Cordelia muttered once the bald man was out of earshot.
“Come on Cordelia it won't be so bad. Besides, as Mayor Wilkins says, the children are our future.” Xander said with a grin.
Cordelia eyed Xander and how he filled out his costume. The two of them needed to talk after this was over if this was what he was hiding under his everyday clothes. “Children my be our future, but I don't plan on having kids anytime soon.” She said snarkily.
“Sure sure. You make a great Pumira by the way.” Xander told her before heading over to his assigned group of kids who where all excited by who was escorting them for the night.
Reruns were awesome sometimes.
Ethan grinned as he began the incantation that would set things in motion. He felt Janus' power flow through him as the spell began its progress through the town. He frowned as he felt a pain in his arm.
He looked at the mark of Eyeghon and his eyes widened. “No. That boy... he can't be. Damn you Destiny.” he whispered as the mark seemed to darken before something shifted underneath his skin heading up his arm. He felt a pain in his head and he collapsed to the ground.
Tonight would be Ethan Rayne's greatest and final work.
Tygra rubbed his head as he sat up. “Where on Thundera am I?” He said as he looked around. He didn't recognize anything around him. He was in a residential neighborhood from what he could tell but the architecture wasn't of Thunderian design. He looked up into the night sky and a familiar moon stared back at him. He looked at the stars... “What in Jaga's name? I'm on Third Earth! How did I get back here?”
He felt on his belt and found his whip. He grasped it and activated the embedded communications circuits within it. “This is Tygra. Can anyone hear me?”
“This is Cheetara. Where are we? How did we get here?” came a voice he recognized.
“Wilykit and Wilykat here. There are some things running around causing trouble. Should we stop them?”
“This is Pumira. I think we should regroup before we do anything else. We need to see if anyone else is here.”
“Right. Everyone home in on my signal.” Tygra ordered them.
The Demon Eyeghon opened his hosts eyes. “Poor Ethan. That boy is here. The perfect vessel. I will find him.” He said to himself before leaving the shop in a shuffling manner. Ethan's formerly living body already beginning to suffer from the degradation being occupied by a demonic presence caused.
“It's good to see familiar faces.” Tygra said as the others showed up. “Can anyone tell me what's going on?”
“None of us remember how we got here.” Cheetara said for the group.
“Great. Any idea what some of these things running around are?” Tygra asked their resident seer.
“They're... innocents. Tonight is an act of... mischief?” She said while staring off in the distance. “Everything should be back to as it should by dawn.” She told him.
“Oh, well then every thing's just fine then.” Wilykit said. “What do we do until then?” he wondered aloud.
“Damage control.” Tygra said. “Try and stop these things from causing too much damage.”
“Right.” Everyone agreed at once.
They were about to split up to get started but they didn't get the chance.
/Somnus/ a distorted voice intoned, and the five Thundercats fell to the ground asleep.
Ethan Rayne's shambling body made it's way towards the downed teenagers. It smiled an impossibly wide grin as it looked at the teenager dressed as a tiger. “Your mutation has been unsealed. Your body will be mine.” He rasped before his body began to dissolve into a slime that made its way into Xander's body.
The sleeping, now twice possessed teenager's eyes opened. They were a milky white for a moment before they turned back to brown.
Eyeghon cackled as he stood and ran off into the night. “Time to find Ripper and play.” He said enjoying the speed this body was capable of.
Giles sipped his tea and sat back in his comfy chair. Tonight he was relaxing and taking a well deserved break. Halloween was a night he'd come to appreciate more and more over the years, especially now that he was on an active Hellmouth. One night off amidst a sea of chaos. It was quite enjoyable really.
At least that was until his arm started hurting.
Giles swore and rolled up his sleeve. His mark was hurting. The last time it did that was when he put Xander to sleep. The time before that was when they had to kill Randall.
Just then the doors to the library were knocked inwards and Giles was forced to duck, spilling his scalding hot tea in the process.
“Giles... it's been too long.” Eyeghon said with a malicious grin. “I haven't been out to play in far too long.”
Giles swore as the pain in his arm increased. Eyeghon was here but how? And who was it in?
“Nononononononononononononononoonononono” was what Tygra heard as awareness came back to him.
He looked around and found himself in small cage that vaguely reminded him of Safari Joe's. In fact...
“This is Thundrainium.” He cried as he felt the metal begin to weaken him. “Getting weak.” he said
Tygra's cry of pain was enough to get Xander's attention. He stopped ranting and rattling his cage over being possessed again to look at the being that was next to him.
“Well shit.” he said before pausing to think of some possible way out of this.
“I know you're here Ripper. I can smell you. I can feel the mark as well. You may as well come out.” Eyeghon called.
Giles swore under his breath.
“I heard that.” Eyeghon called.
Giles stood up and swore. Even under the transformation magic that he'd been through, Giles still recognized Xander's face under the fur.
“How the hell did you get in his body? He knows nothing about you.” Giles demanded.
“That.” Eyeghon said with a grin. “Is a long story. But thanks to our mutual friend Ethan, I'm in possession of a perfect vessel. This boy's mutation heals him to the point that my being here doesn't truly hurt the body at all. I plan to use this body for a long time to come. Now that it's fully unsealed, there's so much I have to learn about what this body can do. But first, I'm going to have a little... fun.” Eyeghon said as the fingernails on his hosts hands thickened and lengthened by several inches. A subtle shift in the boys mutation that was already apparent.
“That's it. I've been possessed by a Thundercat, then by a demon. Tygra, I need you to listen to me.” Xander said to the weakened hero.
“What.. what can I do?” Tygra said.
“You'll do nothing.” A demonic voice said from all around them.
“That's where you're wrong. Tygra is the next in line for the throne after Lion-O, and I know for a fact there wasn't a Lion-O costume for sale. That means he's the defacto leader.”
“NO!” The Demon screamed as he accessed what Xander was mentioning.
Tygra caught on to what he was saying. “Sword of Omens! Come to my hand!” Tygra called.
Eyeghon paused mid step as his face contorted in pain. “No. I won't be denied!” he cried as his body began to glow with a red light.
A moment later there was a flash of red and a beam of light exploded out of Eyeghons mouth as he fell to his knees. A thick puddle of slime was forced out of the body's screaming mouth only to be engulfed and destroyed by the red light.
Above Sunnydale High the symbol of the Thundercats was visible in the night's sky.
Elsewhere in town four possessed teenagers woke up and their eyes flashed as they saw the signal. They all ran towards it. Someone needed their help.
Tygra was amazed as the Sword of Omens appeared in his hand. The cage surrounding him and the human male next to him shattered to a million pieces and vanished.
“It worked.” Xander said to Tygra. “I think you're going to be in control again. Tell Giles the costume shop is on the corner of Wolf and Lee streets.”
“Who is this Giles?” Tygra asked him.
“The human this body attacked.” Xander said as he gestured to the the area that showed what his eyes could see.
“I will. I don't really understand what is going on though.” Tygra told him.
“Chaos. Pure Chaos.” Xander said before Tygra woke up.
“Ohh my head.” Tygra said as he clutched his temples. The pain faded moments later.
“Xander, is that you?” Giles asked
“No. My name is Tygra. There was a boy in there with me. He told me the costume shop was on the corner of Wolf and Lee. I don't really understand what is going on here. I shouldn't even be on Third Earth right now.” The Thunderian told him.
“Costumes... Halloween. This is so like what Ethan would have done. Right. I know where the shop is. We might be able to reverse this once I find out what exactly he did and who he invoked to do so.” Giles said.
Just then four more people rushed into the library.
“Good lord all of you?” Giles said with a sigh. “Right, if everyone would come with me please. I think I can send all of you...home.”
“Oh it's good to be me again.” Cordelia said minutes after Giles broke the statue.
“I'm just glad we got those kids back home before this chaos happened.” Xander said from where he was standing in the store.
“Let's head back to the school I'd like to talk to you about what happened tonight.” Giles told them.
“What did happen?” Oz asked.
“Magic.” Willow told him.
“Oh.” Oz said. “That's real then? What else is?”
“Vampires, demons, magic users.” Buffy rattled off. “Oh, and mutants too.” Buffy said while pointing at Xander.
Xander waved. “Advertise it to the world why don't you Buffy?” he said with a frown.
“Oz strikes me as the understanding type. Or at least as someone who doesn't go running off at the mouth.” Buffy told him.
“What she said.” Oz said with a small grin.
“Come on then.” Giles said. “You've all got spare clothes right?”
“In my van.” Oz said.
“I have some in my Gym Locker.” Xander said.
“I brought some.” Willow said while Buffy nodded.
“I've got my after outfit in my car at the school.” Cordelia said.
“Good, let's go get you all cleaned up. I'm sorry but you all look a tad ridiculous.” Giles told them.
“Do not!” They all said at once before looking at each other.
“Okay that was weird.” Oz said for all of them.
Xander took the wig off and headed to the showers of the men's locker room. He managed to get out of his outfit and he stood under the spray of the water and the orange and black body paint ran off him as he soaped up. He frowned as he looked down. “What the hell?” he said as he found his body was mostly blue with red stripes where the black ones were.
“Dude you're blue.” Oz said from where he was showering and not really looking at him. “Is that new?”
“Yeah. It is.” Xander admitted. “You got any shampoo? I've suddenly got a lot more hair to wash.”
“Where's Xander?” Giles asked Oz as the short teen came into the library wearing his gym clothes.
“He's still drying off.” Oz said with a small grin.
“What's taking him so long?” Cordelia asked him
A few minutes later Xander came into the library. “Yeah, so you know how I said I hated field trips? I think I hate Halloween even more.” Xander said as everyone gaped at his new appearance.
He still looked like Tygra, only his coloring was all wrong. Where there had been orange there was blue. Where there had been black there was blood red. Where there had been white there was now black. Xander's body was coated in a light coat of fur that was currently very frizzy.
“This is going to take some getting used to.” Xander told them.
“So are you like furry all over?” Cordelia asked him.
“You want to find out?” Xander asked her with a lecherous grin.
Giles pinched the bridge of his nose. He needed a very stiff drink, immediately.
AN: Minor Thundercats crossover. Xander's mutation was unlocked while he'd been transformed. This is his new base form with his normal coloring.
Not what some of you may have been thinking about where I was taking the story. I can tell you this, Xander's code name is going to be 'Cheshire'.
Besides chicks dig the fuzzy dudes...
