Chapter 32

I don't own the X-Men, those belong to Marvel Comics and were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby

Emma Frost was created by Chris Claremont and John Bryne.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer was created By Joss Whedon and all the characters with the BTVS TV series are his as well.

The Thundercats were created by Ted Wolf and currently belong to Warner Brothers, at one point in time Marvel comics did do a run of the them in comics form, although DC comics do them now.

This is a piece of fan fiction. I make no claim to the characters within it and am not writing this to gain any form of profit. This is mostly done for my own amusement and I hope for the enjoyment for the handfuls of people reading it.

Chapter 32:

Monday Morning...

“I'm going to procure you a half day pass today Jean.” Xavier told the young telekinetic. “I could use your help in recruiting the latest mutant I've detected.”

“Isn't that tipping off Darkholme?” Xander asked after he finished swallowing the bit of roast beef in his mouth.

Xavier paused... “Right. It is regrettable but, there is a slight complication. There's another active mutant at the school. His ability involves direct manipulation of seismic energies.”

“He's a walking earthquake?” Cordelia half shouted. Being raised in California made both her and Xander more than a little tremor cautious.

“Yes. Lance Alvers, a foster child. He has a fairly volatile temperament. His powers have been active for over two weeks. I've been monitoring him, but he... I can't risk the institute. This house has stood for ten generations. I would like it to be here for more. Now that we've been slowly expanding into an underground network.... I can't... Perhaps once his anger lessens.” Xavier said, trailing off.

“I'm not fully registered with the school here yet right? I could go.” Emma offered. “Besides, Jean has a midterm.”

Xavier raised an eyebrow.

“Well I can learn the sales pitch really really fast.” Emma argued.

Cordelia sighed. “I'll go. I can use up one of my absences and Xander has the same classes anyways. It'll give me a chance to use the mircodart launcher Logan set me up with if I have to tangle with seismic boy.”

“We can both go. Give us a chance to bond some more.” Emma said with a smile before looking at Xavier.

He sighed. “Please, don't let me regret this.” He told them.

“Well, there is one thing I have mastered.” Emma said.

“What's that?” Cordelia asked her.

“Being ignored.” Emma said. “Useful thing that.”

“Good. We'll head out after breakfast.” He told them before getting himself another cup of coffee.

“Great.” Emma said. “You won't regret this.” she told him.

“I hope so.” He sighed.

Later... well technically even though they crossed time zones.... at the Pryde Household.....

“Well that was productive.” Cordelia muttered after Carmen and Theresa Pryde more or less slammed the door in their face.

“You're not going to get them to listen?” Emma asked Xavier.

“No. That is their choice. I just hope we can reach Katherine. Sometimes it is up to the child to make the parents understand.” Xavier said.

“Well let's get to the school then.” Emma said. “Time's a wasting.”

“You really want this don't you?” Cordelia asked her.

She shrugged. “I'm getting the help I need, others can receive the same. One session with Xavier and my mind is more focused. Why argue with results?”

“Let's go.” Cordelia said before heading towards the local bus route. “We need to get to the school.”

“But a bus?” Emma asked.

“Do you know the number for a local taxi service?” Cordelia countered.

“I do now.” Emma said after a moment's concentration.

Xavier pinched the bridge of his nose. Still... Progress was progress.
That afternoon back at the Institute.....

Xander and Logan looked up at the same time from different places on the outside of the institute.

“Daddy!” Xander yelled aloud before vanishing from sight while Kurt, Scott and Todd looked at the spot he was in.

“Follow him?” Scott asked Kurt.

“How?” Kurt countered while Todd laughed softly.

Scott sighed. “Good point.”

Elsewhere Logan was gearing up for a fight with his old... friend.

Sabertooth almost flipped the bike over when someone appeared out of nowhere to sit right behind him. He'd just gotten Wolverine's scent when this happened.

“Daddy!” He heard a voice scream in his ear. He made a choice and flipped the bike over.

Xander teleported to land on his feet as his father crashed the bike into a wooded section of the road. They had some distance from the city.

Sabertooth stared at the mostly blue man tiger. “Well shit.” He said as he caught wind of him. “Mystique huh?” Sabertooth asked.

“Yeah. She didn't know either.” The tigerman said.

The taller mutant chuckled.“ Well fancy that. You got a name?” Sabertooth asked.

“Cheshire.” Xander answered.

Sabertooth cocked his head to one side. “Why aren't you scared?”

“Frankly, I've fought scarier than you.” Xander said before extending his claws.

“Don't have time sprog.” Sabertooth snarled as both men heard a motorcycle approaching.

“You should always make time for family... old man.” Xander snarled before leaping.

Sabertooth grinned until Xander wiped the smile off the man's face with his fist.

“Not bad.” Sabertooth said. “I think you knocked one loose.”

“It ain't over yet old man.” Xander snarled before kicking the man through a tree.

“What do you want from me?” Sabertooth said after standing.

“A trip to the park, maybe a big pretzel.” Xander quipped. “You know usual dad stuff.”

“Like flying a kite?” Sabertooth countered. “Haven't done that since the 1900's.”

They both turned to see Wolverine running towards them full tilt.

“We'll talk later brat.” Sabertooth snarled at him. “I've got old business to deal with first.”

Xander nodded and opted to watch. Letting Logan have his fun. He'd already gotten his free shots in.

Cordelia sighed as she darted Lance Alvers in the neck after he tried to threaten Emma. He slumped to the ground less than three seconds after he'd removed the dart.

“Needs work.” She muttered.

“Seems to work fine to me.” Emma said. “Guy's forceful isn't he? If I were into bad boys...” She trailed off.

“He'd need more polish than you can give him and you know it.” Cordelia countered. “He should have been out before he got a chance to look at the dart.” She said before plucking it out of the boy's fingers. “Let's see if Kitty has calmed down enough to speak to us. If not we can always bribe her with the old standby.”

“What's that?” Emma asked.

“The promise of cute boys.” Cordelia grinned.

“And they call me evil.” Emma laughed.

Forest outside Bayville....

Xander sighed as his cell phone rang. Both Sabertooth and Wolverine looked at him. He shrugged. “Don't let me interrupt.” he called down before answering the phone. “Hey Cordy, yeah I can talk.” He said into the phone.

“Unbelievable.” Sabertooth muttered.

“Not much phases the kid.” Logan said before punching him.

“My boy.” Sabertooth said before spitting up blood in Logan's face and laughing.

“You want me to do what?” Xander said into the phone. “She's how old?... Fine fine. I'll be there in a little bit. I got to take care of something first. Yeah. Yeah... I'll wear that thing you like. See you in say ten minutes? Yeah. Love you too.” he hung up the phone.

“Are you guys going to be done anytime soon?” Xander called down.

“No.” Both men screamed at him while they were struggling against each other.

Xander sighed.... “Look I've got to be somewhere. What is this really about. Not the old coworker issues... why do you two really dislike each other so much?”

“Her name was Rosie.” Logan growled.

“That tavern wench? Jesus, Logan she was a whore.” Sabertooth laughed.

“She was an angel!” Logan screamed before punching Sabertooth and knocking him several feet away.

Xander sighed. “Right....” he muttered. “I'm going to have to call a time out.” He said before teleporting down to his father and teleporting him somewhere else before coming back.

“You interrupted the fight kid.” Logan growled at him. “Why?”

“I've got things to do and so do you. You want to pissed at me fine.” Xander said with a shrug. “I've got to try to help recruit this new mutant. You can take it out on me over the next couple of months in sparring, claws and all.” Xander said.

“Where'd you send him?” Logan asked him.

“He never did like Aussies.” Logan grinned.

“Good.” Xander said. “Gotta go.” He saluted before vanishing.

Logan popped the kinks out of his neck. “Damn meddling kid.”

Deerfield Illinois....

“As you can clearly see, there is a strict training regimen at the Xavier Institute that leave the men in near perfect shape.” Cordelia said to Kitty as Xander demonstrated his ability to do a one handed handstand and flex at the same time while wearing a speedo. He was furless at the moment since this was the selling pitch.

Both Emma and Kitty were looking at him with glazed eyes.

“The things you get me to do.” He sighed.

“And you love me for it.” Cordelia grinned at him. “While it's true Xander here is taken, we have a few new recruits who are just starting their own training regimens which include some advanced educational classes that simply aren't offered at your current school. We seem to be picking up more recruits by the week.

“So I can like get a boyfriend who's a mutant like I am?” Kitty asked her.

“It'll certainly increase your odds of meeting someone who understands you.” Cordelia said. “As a matter of fact this big lug right here has a younger brother only a year older than you.” She said as she slapped Xander's backside causing him to flip over to stand up.

“Can I go now?” Xander asked her.

“You may.” She told him.

Xander vanished from sight.

“So, like how do we convince my parents?” Kitty asked

Emma and Cordelia shared a grin.

“Oh man what happened?” Lance said as he sat up.

“You were drugged young Avalanche.” A voice called from the darkened auditorium.

“Who's there?” He called as he tried to stand.

“I suppose you could consider me your adviser. I've got a place reserved for you at Bayville High.” Mystique said as she stepped into the light.

“You work at a school?” Lance said as he stared at the red haired but blue skinned woman.

“I not only work there, I'm the principal.” She told him before shifting into her current identity of the stern school principal.

“Shit. Better than here I guess.” Lance said with a shrug.

“Good.” Mystique said with a grin. “Let's go get your things.”

“This the place?” Lance asked her as they pulled up to the Brotherhood of Bayville boarding house.

“It is.” Mystique said as they walked up the steps of the house. She turned the key and opened the door. She paused. The television was on. “Stay here. We have company.” She told him before shifting her hand into a wicked looking blade and heading inside.

Lance stayed at the doorway as he heard the woman scream “What the hell are you doing here?” at someone.

“Nothing changes.” Lance muttered as he grabbed his things and headed upstairs to go find a room.
Living room same time....

“The sprog dropped me off. Nice kid, hits like a mack truck.” Sabertooth explained before sipping on his beer and taking a puff of the thin cigarillo he'd sniffed out from her stash.

“Wait... you met our son?” Mystique said. “What's his name? He didn't tell me when he confronted me.”

“Called himself Cheshire. Teleported me here during a fight with the Runt.” Sabertooth grinned.

Mystique frowned. “When I met him he left me in a redwood forest on the West Coast.”

“I think he has a pretty good idea of how to put people in odd situations.” he smirked before puffing on the cigarillo. “These aren't bad. Cuban?”

“Yes.” Mystique sighed before reaching for one herself. She paused. “Dear god is that my robe?”

“Maybe.” Sabertooth said with a shrug. “My shit is in the wash. Got pine sap on my coat when the sprog threw me through a tree. He's a little rough, but he's good.”

Mystique sat down and tried to snatch Victor's beer. “So now what?” She asked him.

“Well... I'm here and haven't caused too much damage... so we can either fight or fuck.” He told her.

“I'm not nearly drunk enough for either at the moment.” She told him.

“Oh, we can fix that.” He said with a leer.
