I don't own the X-Men, those belong to Marvel Comics and were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby
Emma Frost was created by Chris Claremont and John Bryne.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was created By Joss Whedon and all the characters with the BTVS TV series are his as well.
The Thundercats were created by Ted Wolf and currently belong to Warner Brothers, at one point in time Marvel comics did do a run of the them in comics form, although DC comics do them now.
The Christmas Holidays were coming up soon and the mansion was abuzz with activity. Those who had homes were getting ready to go visit their relatives over the break.
Todd was heading with Kurt to go experience a German Christmas while Xander promised to visit.
Evan had left the institute already and was training to join an extreme sports circuit once the weather had warmed up a bit. Kitty was already back in Deerfield and Emma had taken Fred home with her to irritate her family. The last of the group to leave was Jean and Scott was watching her family drive off right now. The only ones who were left at the Mansion besides the adults were Xander, Forge, Anna and Cordelia and Scott.
“Cheer up man, She'll be back after New Years.” Xander told Scott as he gripped one of the teen's shoulders.
“I know it's just... I had a brother once.” Scott told him. “The holidays are hard.”
“Really? What happened?” Xander asked. He'd never gotten the kid's story before.
Scott told him of his family and the plane crash. How he'd been the only survivor even though they never found any bodies.
“Well Scott, I was going to get you some disposable earplugs so you could drone out Fred's snoring, but I guess I can give this a shot too.” Xander told him as his claw sheathe came out from under his skin.
He withdrew the sword and called out those famous words. He looked through the pommel and grinned at what it had shown him. “Scott, how do you feel about sunblock?” He asked the teen.
“Why?” Scott asked.
“Alex is alive, and he's in Hawaii.” Xander told him.
“What? No way!” Scott said before running inside, screaming for the Professor.
After several fevered discussions and consulting a few databases it was confirmed that Alex Summers; now known as Alex Masters, was indeed alive and well. The real issue was getting a ticket to Hawaii during the holiday season.
“I can take him.” Xander offered. “I've seen where Alex lives.”
“You will? That's great!” Scott enthused.
“Should we call ahead?” Xander asked him.
“No, let's surprise him.” Scott said with an infectious grin.
“Okay.” Xander said with a shrug. “Pack for warm weather.” he told him.
“I'll be back in five minutes.”Scott said before rushing off.
The kid came back with an overstuffed carry on bag six minutes later.
“Boo!” Scott yelled as he appeared directly in front of his little brother for the first time in a decade.
“AHHHHHH!” Alex screamed as a bolt of energy flew from his hands striking his brother, doing absolutely nothing to him.
“Alex!” Scott said before hugging his brother.
“Scott?” Alex said before gasping for breath. “You just scared the shit out of me! Are you a ghost?”
“No, a friend dropped me off.” Scott said as he looked at where he thought Xander was.
Xander appeared in the room and ducked as soon as he was visible. “Whoa! Just whoa!” He said as he ducked the energy bolt.
Alex Masters stared at his slightly glowing hand. “What just happened?” He asked his brother.
“You just activated your mutation! Awesome!” Scott said enthusiastically.
“Wait... what?” Alex asked.
Xander rolled his eyes. “Tell him the deal. I'm going to go pop back and talk to the Professor, maybe get a brochure.” He told Scott before fading from sight. “No let's surprise him!” His voice mocked before he left the room.
“What... did he just disappear?” Alex asked Scott.
“He did.” Scott said. “Listen, we're part of this subsection of humanity that possess a gene that makes us a little different from the majority of the population.” Scott began to explain.
“What just happened?” Professor Xavier asked as Xander appeared in the Cerebro room.
“Scott wanted to surprise his brother and it activated his mutation. I can't go anywhere can I?” Xander sighed.
“Go get the new brochure.” Xavier told him. “Then hurry back and keep watch. I doubt I'm the only person who noticed this mutant.”
“Got it prof.” Xander said before getting the brochures and heading to the weapons locker just in case.
Later above the Masters' Home
Magneto was suddenly gripped with a sensation that he hadn't felt in some time. He was falling. This... was different. He caught a glimpse of a gun barrel before darkness claimed him.
Xander stared at the fallen mutant. There was no way he was ever going to be able to do this again. The man's ego wouldn't allow it. He popped a paint ball out of the gun's load. He pierced it and slipped it in the man's mouth. He then teleported the two of them to a forest he'd encountered during his little world wide trip. He teleported again to a granite quarry that had been abandoned years ago.
The place was bare and hopefully, had very little iron around here. He began methodically stripping the man of his clothing before securing him with the plastic restraints he and Forge had been working on. He surrounded the area with Todd's magnetic inhibitors and teleported the man's costume elsewhere. After he was certain that he was safe as he was going to get, Xander popped some smelling salts open under the man's nose.
Magneto's eyes snapped open and he spat out whatever was in his mouth. He tried to move his arms but found that his arms were bound. He flexed his magnetic abilities and they did nothing to free him. He stared at his captor. “You.” He growled.
“You know me?” Xander asked.
“You were the one at Jamaica.” Magneto glared. “That ship would have helped my cause.”
“That ship self destructed once I took out it's guardians. I can teleport. You can't.” Xander said flatly. “What is your cause exactly?” He asked the master of magnetism.
“I want the mutant race to survive. You should join me, your defeating me would allow you entrance to my haven.” Magneto said as he searched for some metal he could use to his advantage.
“I'm using a wide setup of several layers of some tech my friend cooked up called magnetic inhibitors. You're more or less neutralized for the moment. We're here to talk. I won't kill you.” Xander told him. “My defeating you would have gained me entrance. Why?”
“The strongest must survive.” Magneto said as he flexed his power again to no avail.
“Wow, you're like some kind of Super Hitler aren't you?” Xander asked.
“Curb your tongue boy. You know not of what you speak.” Magneto growled.
“I see your tattoo.” Xander said softly. “You're really going about this the wrong way. If you want mutants to thrive, you just need to wait. Our time will come when we stand side by side with the rest of humanity.”
Magneto laughed. “I see Charles has infected you with his pipe dream.”
“You make that sound like it's a bad thing.” Xander grinned. “Just back off would you? You want to help mutant kind? Find them. Find the strays, the runaways. Find the ones who can't be seen in the light of day. Shelter them. Love them. This bitterness will destroy you and everything you touch. And that spaceship? It was a listening post for something that's coming. Something we need to be united against to stop.”
“What's coming?” Magneto asked.
“From what I've learned, the future.” Xander told him. “I'm going to let you go and take you to where I left your clothes. This hatred, this drive. You're motivated for the wrong reasons. You want mutant kind to survive. Charles wants them to live. There's a difference.” He said before grasping the man's shoulder and taking them somewhere else.
After he was dressed Magneto stared at Xander. “You could have killed me.” he said.
“How did the Professor phrase it?” Xander mused. “If I did that, you wouldn't learn anything.”
Magneto fought the urge to chuckle as the tiger-man disappeared. “You are what we were trying to create with your brother.” He said to thin air.
“Really?” Xander said as he faded back into sight. “By the way, The Summers brothers are off limits.” He said before disappearing once more.
Xander reappeared in Alex's bedroom after stomping his feet first. “Hey guys, I'm back.” He said to them. “How are things?” He asked as he handed Alex a brochure for Xavier's school for gifted youngsters.
“Our powers don't work on each other.” Scott told him.
“Oh, well that's weird.” Xander said with a shrug. “You okay Alex?” he asked the teen who was rubbing his wrist.
“My joints are hurting.” Alex said. “It didn't start until after my powers activated.”
“It may take time for your body to adjust.” Xander told him. “As it stands we can show you some moderate pain management techniques if it really begins to get to you.”
“I can get used to this I guess. Scott told me he used to have to wear some protective eye wear until you healed him. Is that true?” Alex asked.
“Yeah, but it's not a cure all kid.” Xander told him. “Your powers have just started. It may take months or even years for your body to adapt. My body is still changing and my mutation kicked in almost four years ago. Your brother's problem was due to severe trauma from the plane crash.”
“Oh.” Alex said quietly. “I think we should go talk to my parents.”
“You want me to speak with them?” Xander offered.
“Can you look... regular?” Alex asked while Scott chuckled.
Xander's fur retracted and his clothes shifted back to normal. “A sweater is a little off for Hawaii but sure.”
“Let's go.” Alex said as he got up.
Later..Back at the Mansion.
“Xander's taking a long time.” Logan grunted.
“I think he... did something.” Charles mused.
“What do you mean?” Logan asked.
“Eric isn't hiding anymore. He's over at the brotherhood house right now.” Charles said.
“Doing what?” Logan asked, confused.
“I think he's taking his son Christmas shopping.” Charles grinned.
“I need a drink.” Logan muttered.
“This is crazy.” Alex said quietly. “I can't believe my parents are so understanding about this.”
Xander shrugged. “Be glad. Listen if you ever want help, maybe even if it's just during the summer months, Xavier's institute will be there for you.”
“So, when I get out of school for the summer, I can come visit so I can get better control?” Alex asked.
“It's up to you. From what I can tell you're a regular surfer. I don't want you to think we want you to give up your dreams.” Xander told him. “In all honesty if you want we can get you into an advanced learning program so you can get a GED if you want to finish your basic education early.”
“You'd do that for me?” Alex asked.
“It's becoming something we can offer yes. However we tend to focus on letting young mutants grow in a caring environment while allowing them to attend public school at the same time. That way they don't feel like social outcasts.” Xander told him.
“I see.” Alex said. “Well, my folks are willing to let Scott stay here during the holidays. Can I have some time to think about attending the institute?”
“I'm not trying to force this on you Alex. If you need time, that's fine. Scott here can show you some basic stuff on how to control your powers while he's here. I have a feeling that both of your abilities tie into the same source since you can't harm each other with them.” Xander said before standing. “I'll be going. Scott, you've got the phone card I gave you right?”
Scott nodded. “I'll call when I need to come back. There's also a decent Internet connection here I can use.”
“Well, you have a pleasant holiday Scott, Merry Christmas.” Xander told him before teleporting back to the Mansion.
Back at the Mansion....
“You're back. How did it go?” Xavier asked Xander as he reappeared in the kitchen.
“Well, an old friend of yours showed up and Todd's magnetic inhibitor worked like a charm. Though I doubt he'll fall for the same trick twice. We had a nice chat and I hope he learned something.”
“He's in town visiting his son Pietro. Whatever you said to him, did something.” Charles said. “What did you do?”
“I had him bound and powerless. Then I talked and he listened.” Xander said with a shrug. “Now is there anything I can do around here?”
“The pantry is in sore need of restocking.” Charles told him.
“I'll go into town and hit up the grocery store.” Xander offered.
“Take Logan with you would you?” Charles asked. “I'm sure that the two of you can collect the items we need.”
“You want me to go grocery shopping with Logan?” Xander said skeptically.
“I trust the two of you to stick to the list.” Xavier said with a grin.
Both Logan and Xander's heads turned as the dark haired woman with the eyepatch walked past them in the grocery store.
The two men shared a look and they nodded. They discreetly kept an eye on the woman as she coasted through the small store and managed to smuggle a few things into her coat without anyone else seeing her do it.
They followed her out and watched her sneak into the back alley of the grocery store and head into the sewers.
“Follow her?” Logan asked.
“Yeah.” Xander nodded.
Under the city...
“Why are you following me?” The woman growled at Xander as she held a knife to his throat.
“What? I can't follow a fellow mutant home?” Xander asked as his fur began to come out of his skin. “Let's just say you sparked my curiosity.” He told her.
The woman glared. “Who are you?” She demanded.
“The call me Cheshire. Who are you pretty lady?” He asked with a grin.
She snorted. “I'm called Callisto.” She said before motioning with her other hand and some more mutants walked forward. “What do you want with us?” She demanded.
“You folks live down here?” He asked. “Why?”
“Look at us. We're not fit for public eye.” Callisto said as she sheathed her knife. “We're the Morlocks.”
“Look, what if I offered you folks a place to stay until I can set up something more permanent?” He asked them.
“What can you offer us?” Callisto demanded. “And why would you?”
“Kid can't help it.” Logan said from the shadows as he stepped forward. “He's just built that way.”
Callisto stared at Logan then at the tiger like mutant. “I'm listening.”
At the Mansion....
Charles stared at the large collection of mutants in his home. “I sent you out for groceries, and you come back with... Morlocks is it?” He asked Xander.
Xander shrugged. “It's temporary until I can set them up with a home of their own.” He told him. “I'll vouch for them while they're here.”
“Welcome to my home.” Charles told them. “While you're here if any of you need some medical treatment, our infirmary is fully equipped.”
“Thank you.” Callisto said with a nod. “We could all use a once over.”
“Allow me to escort you.” Charles told the group.
Several Hours later....
“Severe malnutrition in some of them, but with correct supplements all of you should be right as rain.” Cordelia told Callisto. “I'm very surprised none of you have any infections to be honest.”
“We've been lucky so far.” She said quietly. “This Cheshire guy and the Xavier character, are they on the level?”
“They mean what they say.” Cordelia told her. “If Cheshire has offered you a place to stay, he'll get you one.”
“You're serious.” Callisto stated.
“When it comes to helping people, Cheshire doesn't kid around.” Cordelia said her.
Callisto nodded before leaving the infirmary, lost in thought.
Xander knocked on the door of the Brotherhood House.
Pietro opened the door. “Can I help you?” He asked, not recognizing Xander in his civilian form.
“Is your father in?” Xander asked. “I need to speak with him about something.”
“Hang on.” Pietro said before closing the door.
A few minutes later, Magneto in civilian clothes was at the door. “Can I help you?”
“Maybe. You and I had a talk earlier today. I found some of us that could use some sanctuary.” Xander told him.
“I'm listening.” Magneto said as he stepped out of the house.
“Well, a funny thing happened when I went grocery shopping.” Xander began to explain.
AN: There wasn't a Christmas episode until the second season. So I figure I'd add this one in.
