Emma Frost was created by Chris Claremont and John Bryne.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer was created By Joss Whedon and all the characters with the BTVS TV series are his as well.

The Thundercats were created by Ted Wolf and currently belong to Warner Brothers, at one point in time Marvel comics did do a run of the them in comics form, although DC comics do them now.

Chapter 45:

“So what do we do?” Anna asked.

“You still have those brochures?” Xander asked Forge.

“Yeah. Who'll approach her? She seems agitated.” Forge asked.

“I'll do it. Looks like she's just run from home.” Cordelia said as she stood.

“Good luck.” Xander said with a nod. “We'll be here.”

“Do you have her file?” Cordelia asked.

Xander opened his briefcase and handed her Tabitha's file. “Glad you made me start carrying this thing.” He said with a grin.

“Best man purse a guy can get.” She grinned back. “I'll be back in a few minutes.”

Cordelia sat next to the blond teenager. She slid the school's brochure over to her.

Tabitha looked through the brochure and snorted. “Not interested.” She said softly.

She slid the girl's file over. “You'd fit right in Tabitha. No pressure but it's better than home right?”

Tabitha looked at the file. It included everything including her small criminal record as well as what her new ability was. “You guys.... who are you really?” she asked.

“People who want to help.” Cordelia told her. “Come, eat with us. We're not so bad.”

“You'll pay right? I'm a little short on cash right now.” Tabitha asked.

“That won't be a problem.” Cordelia assured her. “One dinner and maybe a hotel room for you for the night. Sound good?”

“Sounds great.” Tabitha grinned. “Really, what's the catch?”

“Just listen to the pitch.” She said. “No more, no less.”

Doom casually flipped over a fast moving projectile and weaved between some falling blades. This body's warning sense was remarkable. He'd have to test it's limits and see if he could induce it artificially as well as shield himself from the same. With his healing abilities enhanced by what he'd added to the genetic structure he was already back in full health with minimal effort.

“Yes. Doom certainly approves of this new body.” He said as he grasped a spinning saw blade and halting it's motion with just his fingertips. “Yes. Quite satisfactory.” He muttered as he watched his fingertips heal over in mere seconds.

He resumed his training. He needed a strong body for his stronger mind.

Xavier's place....

“So there he was, running around with his underwear on his head and not a stitch else.” May Parker said with a laugh.

“Go on.” Rahne said while the other women giggled.. “This is getting interesting.”

Elsewhere in the house Peter looked up as his Spider Sense started tingling softly. “That can't be good.”

“Of course not.” Todd said. “How much you want to bet the girls are talking about you?”

“They wouldn't do that.” Peter said.

“Wanna bet?” Kurt asked.

“No. I don't gamble.” Peter said. “No bet.”

“Sucker's bet anyways. You're new and you're Aunt's here. Stories will be told.” Todd grinned.

“She's right man.” Alex said. “Next thing you know they'll all know when you stopped wetting the bed.”

“I'm doomed.” Peter sighed.

“Welcome to the club.” Scott grinned. “So what's your girlfriend like?”

“She's a real spitfire.” Peter told him. “It's like she knows more about me than I do sometimes.”

“I know the feeling.” Scott said. “Speaking of girls, what's up with that Alex? Why keep her a secret?”

“I had my reasons man.” Alex told him. “She's new to being a mutant though she's always been a little... off.”

“Huh?” Peter asked.

“I think he's talking about carpets and drapes here man.” Todd grinned before ducking an energy blast. “Easy.” he shouted.
Back at the Denny's...

“Now this is some good pie.” Tabitha said as she finished off her slice. “You guys aren't so bad. A little uptight but not bad. You think you can get me away from my father? My mom's not so bad but he's a real piece of work.”

“Promise.” Xander told her. “You just have to know that living at the institute comes with following basic rules. Curfew, going to school. Basic stuff. Do that, you'll get an allowance, roof over your head and three squares a day.”

“Rules? Those are for chumps.” Tabitha snorted.

“Rules exist so society works. Otherwise your dad would be able to control you all the time.” Xander countered. “At least till you have enough and do something about him.”

“But he's my dad, I can't just...” Tabitha trailed off.

“Course not. There are rules.” Xander told her. “Things you should and shouldn't do. WE're offering you a fresh start Tabitha. New place, new people, new problems. All this.” Xander tapped the file. “Stays here.”

“I'm in.” Tabitha said after a few minutes silence.

“Great. Now you can ride with us or we can send you on up. We're on a recruitment drive this summer.” Xander told her.

“I think I'll stick around with you guys for a while.” Tabitha said. “If you don't mind.”

“I'll contact the professor and he'll straighten stuff out here.” Xander told her before heading out to talk to the professor on his phone.

“He's on the level?” Tabitha asked.

“Yep.” Forge said.

“Is he single?” She asked.

“Nope.” Cordelia grinned. “Taken.”

“How about you?” She asked Forge.

“He's taken too.” Anna said quickly.

“Shame. So, who are you recruiting next?” Tabitha asked.

“Kid named Samuel Guthrie. He's over in Kentucky.” Forge said as he consulted his PDA.

“Got a photo?” She asked.

Forge showed her.

“I could work with that.” She mused. “Definitely sticking around.”

Xavier's place.

Logan shuddered as he entered the living room.

“What is it Mr. Logan?” Kurt asked him.

“The conversation in the kitchen. It was going to a weird place when I walked past it. Hey kid, did you know your aunt doesn't have a gag reflex?” He asked Peter.

“WHAT?” Peter yelled. “What does that have to do with anything?”

“If you don't know I can't tell you. Though you will appreciate it later.” Logan grinned.

“Wait... She's teaching them? That's great!” Todd grinned. “Man, I need a girlfriend.”

“Good luck kid.” Logan said before leaving. “I'm going to go get blind stinking drunk now.” He said as he reached the door.

“Dude, that guy's a terrible role model.” Alex said.

“He's okay if you ignore the fact he drinks like a fish and smokes.” Kurt said. “Then when he goes off on his own to go into the woods or something. Plus you should never startle him when he's napping.”

“I rest my case man.” Alex grinned as he crossed his arms.

“He's still a good guy.” Kurt told them. “Better than some of the gypsies I knew back in the circus.”

“Nah man, a real role model is Don Ho.” Alex said. “I met him once.”
The Van....

“Wait, where are we?” Tabitha asked as she looked around at some unfamiliar landmarks.

“Kentucky.” Xander told her as he pulled into the hotel's parking lot.

“When did that happen?” She asked as she sat up in her seat.

“You dozed off for about a few minutes.” Xander told her. “I used my ability to get us here.”

“Cool. This place is kinda ritzy isn't it?” She asked.

“Only the best for my friends and family.” Xander told her. “I'll get us a few rooms or a suite.”

“Three beds will be fine.” Anna told him.

“Three?” Xander asked her.

“Three.” She stated while Forge suddenly found his game boy to be much more interesting.

“Fine.” Xander said softly. “I hope I know what you're doing.”

“I hope he does too.” Anna said with a small grin which Tabitha shared.

The elevator....

“Oh, before I forget here.” Xander said as handed Tabitha a small plastic container.

“What's this?” She asked.

“Ear plugs. Trust me.” He told her

“Okay.....” She said with a confused look on her face.

“Ear plugs he says.” Tabitha muttered as she put the pieces in her ears. “I swear....” She huffed as the noises she'd been hearing for the past ten minutes finally became muffled.

“Still. Least he was considerate about it. The Jerk.” She muttered before rolling over and trying to get some sleep.
The next morning....

“Long night?” Tabitha asked Anna who was sipping her third cup of coffee.

“Long something.” Anna told her with a grin.

“I'm right here.” Forge said.

“Not now Forge.” Anna and Tabitha said.

Forge sputtered as Xander and Cordelia laughed. “Welcome to my world.” Xander told him.

“Not now Xander.” Cordelia told him with a grin.

“Fine.” Xander scoffed as he picked up his coffee. “Forge and I can go sit at a table by ourselves while you three gossip.”

“Is he always this huffy?” Tabitha asked.

“He just likes to get on the road early. He doesn't sleep more than four hours a night.” Cordelia told her.

“Huh. Must be nice.” Tabitha grinned. “how much do you sleep?” She asked Cordelia.

“Enough.” Cordelia grinned. “Helps I go to bed exhausted.”
Xavier Institute Genetics Lab #2

“Fascinating.” Moira said as she examined Peter's genetic structure. “You said the spinnerets formed after this spirit walk you did on the astral plane?”

“Something like that yeah.” Peter told her. “Doc Strange was with me the whole way though. I didn't fall of the path or go where I shouldn't have. I met her.”

“Who?” Moira asked.

“The Great Queen Spider.” Peter told her. “She... saw all of me.”

“Interesting.” Moira said. “Your genetics are astounding. You said you were bitten by a radioactive spider but I'm not finding any trace radiation in your system.”

“She took care of that.” Peter told her. “She said something about an eventuality I couldn't live with.”

“Uh-huh.” Moira said skeptically. “I'm sorry. I'm not one for magic and fairy tales.”

“Look I didn't splice myself with the traits of multiple spiders.” Peter told her. “I'm well aware that all humans share similar traits with different animals but not to this level. It's not like all those inactive genes just turned on one day.”

“You don't know that.” Moira told him as she had a flash of inspiration. “Tell me, can I get a sample form your aunt?”

“What? Why?” Peter asked.

“Just a hunch.” She told him. “Where are your parents buried?”

“They died in a plane crash. Their bodies were never recovered.” Peter told her.

“What about your grandparents?” She asked. “ I need a more thorough genetic history. Do you have any hairs or anything from before the accident?”

“Maybe.” Peter said with a sigh. “I don't even know where my grandparents are buried. It hasn't come up before.”

“Find out, please.” Moira told him. “It could be the key to all of this.”

Doom grinned as he manipulated the polymer chain. This formula was brilliant but laughably simple to reverse engineer. Perhaps it could be used in his anti riot gear for containment. “This child has a spark of my brilliance, but I will always outshine him in the end.” Doom stated before chuckling. “The things he could learn under me. Hah, an apprentice.” He paused. “Too much risk.” he mused. “Definitely too much risk.”

Cumberland County, Kentucky.....

“This place is.... rustic.” Anna said as she stared at the Guthrie household.

“Tapped for cash in coal mining country.” Xander said.

“Oh he's got that gleam in his eye again.” Cordelia sighed. “Forge go get that X-Gene tester. I have a feeling we might need it.”

“You think so?” Forge asked.

The group watched a young teen fly through the air with a trail of smoke leading behind him.

“Yeah. We're going to need it.” Tabitha said.
Later, after beverages were offered and declined.....

“So you'll pay for him to go to this school?” Lucinda Guthrie asked Xander.

“Not much but you will receive a small stipend that will help out the family here.” Xander told her. “A bit more than what he can get under current labor laws.”

“And three of my other children have the potential to become mutants as well?” She asked a little worriedly. Sam was causing damage unintentionally that was adding up.

“I'm afraid so ma'am. If any of your children's mutations become active you just give the institute a call and we'll have someone here as soon as we can to assist.” Xander told her.

“Well ultimately it's up to Sam.” Lucinda said. “Where is Sam anyways?”

“Umm... where's Tabitha?” Forge asked.

“Sam!” Lucinda yelled as she ran to the back door.

Everybody in the house watched a shirtless Sam take off from the pond with a girl in his arms.

“Looks like he'll fit right in.” Anna sighed.

“It was just...” Sam tried to say.

“Not a word.” Lucinda Guthrie told her son. “Not one word. Go pack and no more funny business today.”

“Yes ma'am.” Sam sighed before going to go get his stuff.

“Can I go?” a young voice asked.

“Paige right?” Xander said to the young teen.

“Yes sir. We really need the money.” She told him. “Is there any way you can make me a mutant? I know I tested positive.”

Xander looked at Cordelia who shrugged. “I know of one way I can but it's up to your mother.” He told her. “It isn't pleasant.”

“Will it hurt?” Paige asked.

“No, you'll just get really really scared for a second.” Xander told her as he looked to her mother.

“If she wants to, let her.” Lucinda said.

“Do me a favor, go use the bathroom first.” Xander told her.

“Yes sir.” She said softly before going to do just that.

“This is wrong Xander.” Anna said.

“It's her choice. Her mother is letting her.” Xander said. “It'll give me chance to use it.”

“Use what?” Forge asked.

“I have a limited psychic ability. I don't like using it.” He told Forge as Paige came back into the room.

“I'm ready sir.” She told him.

Xander nodded. “Look into my eyes.” he said as his body shifted to his true form.

Paige stared into his eyes. Nothing happened for a second then Paige screamed so loud that everyone except Xander and her covered their ears. She flinched and left her skin and clothes behind as her body turned into steel.

Xander stopped concentrating and felt the oncoming headache fade slightly as his healing abilities began to compensate for the strain.

Paige began to calm down as she took in deep breaths. “That... that was awful.” She said quietly.

“I told you.” Xander said softly. “Go get your things. And some clothes to put on.”

“Take care of them.” Lucinda told him. “They're in your hands now.”

“I promise to do my best.” Xander told her.

“Van's getting kind of full.” Anna said as they loaded up the belongings of the two Guthrie teens.

“I know. I'm dropping these three off at the mansion.” Xander told her.

“But we just got on this trip.” Tabitha whined.

“Paige, do you want to be on the road for the next week while we pick up other mutants or do you want to get your room set up in the institute?” Xander asked the youngest teen.

“Can I wait and see?” She asked.

“Fine.” Xander said with a nod. “Load up everyone. We're going to New Mexico next.” He called before heading into the house to give Lucinda her check.

In the van.

“You were just trying to get rid of us.” Tabitha accused as Xander started the van.

“Show her the file on James Maddrox.” Xander told Forge.

Tabitha read the file that detailed the young teen's ability. “Oh.” She said quietly. “It's gonna get real crowded isn't it?”

“Still want to hang around?” Xander asked her.

“Well maybe we can drop him off once we get him. I still want to see Vegas.” Tabitha told him.

“You told her we were going to Vegas?” Xander asked Cordelia.

“Nope. Anna did.” Cordelia said.

“Oh.” Xander said as he started up the van and cranked the AC. “Get ready. We're going to New Mexico.” He told them “And buckle up too.”
The Xavier institute.

“Why do you want samples from my parents graves?” May Parker asked Moira.

“It's an idea. I need to know what his genetics were like before he became Spider-Man. I can't do that without correct genetic samples. With his parents dead the closest I could get are you and your husband's body or your and his genetic parents.” Moira explained. “It may not pan out but I would like to check this.”

May looked the woman in the eyes. “All right.” May said. “I'll show you where they are buried.”

Doom grinned as he adjusted the mix in the molten metal. This was his third formulation and it needed twice the heat to reach it's melting point. This armor would be stronger and lighter than ever. It would also boost his strength on the same scale as his old armor had done when he was just within normal human tolerances.

“Soon, the world will see the new face of Doom.” He said as he stared at the mold for his new mask. “Soon.”
