Chapter 80.... really? when does it end?
I don't own the X-Men, those belong to Marvel Comics and were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby
Emma Frost was created by Chris Claremont and John Bryne.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was created By Joss Whedon and all the characters with the BTVS TV series are his as well.
The Thundercats were created by Ted Wolf and currently belong to Warner Brothers, at one point in time Marvel comics did do a run of the them in comics form, although DC comics do them now.
“You're certain you want to be here for this sir?” The Warden asked Nick Fury.
“I can't be around for everything, but this I need to see in person. He's caused too much damage to be killed without any official witnesses.” Fury said. “Sedate him then behead him. If he can survive having his skull caved in like that, beheading may be the only way to truly kill him.”
“Yes sir.” The Warden said as he began the preparations. “Have you brought the blade?”
“Finely honed Adamantium.” Fury stated as he patted his side where there was a machete strapped to his leg.
The Warden nodded and the two headed towards the Green Goblin's cell. The appointed executioner was already there waiting for them, hood and all.
Fury sighed. He hated this part. “Let's get this over with.” He said before reciting the written orders for execution.
“Even with the good press we've been getting, the numbers in the rallies are growing.” Xavier sighed as he turned off the TV.
“Graydon Creed is becoming a problem.” Eric agreed. “There's a way around that of course.”
“Have you been able to locate either of them?” Xavier asked.
“No. Victor last I checked was traveling. His own enhancements from the Weapon X project make him difficult to find on a good day. As for Mystique... she is somewhere.” Eric said softly before sipping his coffee.
“We could always ask Xander.” Xavier said as he pondered the situation.
“He's too leery.” Eric countered. “Considering his clone I suppose I can understand. Besides, his DNA has changed considerably since his mutation was first unsealed. You've seen the blood tests, it contains foreign proteins compared to Human blood. A gene comparison would be iffy at best.”
“So in order to derail the anti-mutant extremists... which they are despite current appearances... we need them both.” Xavier said as he drummed his fingers on his desk. “Shit on a stick.” He summed up.
“My sentiments exactly.” Eric grinned. “So, what else has been going on around here?”
“I honestly hoped I wouldn't be wearing another one of these for a while.” Ben said as he adjusted his tie.
“We're going to Vegas, cheer up.” Felicia grinned. “You'll love it! We're going to make so much money!”
“We have to avoid any and all acts involving cats.” Ben cautioned her. “Also, don't take off your imager in public. Sigfried and Roy are still after me and Xander.”
“So when is your original getting here?” Felicia asked as she tried to stuff some more clothes into her suitcase.
“Soon.” Ben told her. “Dear god, we're going for three days. What's with the big suitcase?”
“Three days can turn into twenty faster than you might think.” Felicia smirked. “Do you plan on cashing in any of those damned favors while we're out there?”
“Well, we're going to have to find a highly sexually repressed woman while we're out there if I do.” Ben grinned. “You're a kinky girl you know.”
“I was losing and getting desperate.” Felicia shrugged. “Even I don't know where the idea involving the waffle iron came from.”
Ben shuddered. That one hadn't gone well. “All right. Let's go make sure all the codes are set and we can give them a list.”
“This place sure has some weird security measures.” Felicia said as she sat on her suitcase. “I've never heard of such weird passwords before.”
“That's just because my mom's a bitchy shape shifter.” Ben explained. “Plus you've never heard of limericks like those before right?”
“Never.” Felicia said a she snapped the latches shut. “Guess you've got me there.” She got up and stared at her suitcase.... “Success!” She said. “Samsonite all the way!”
“Where did you even get those?” Ben asked. “Those are all old timey looking.”
“I got them at auction. You'd be surprised how many suitcases that are lost get found and sold off later on.” She grinned. “Nice huh?” She asked.
“It's like green leather or something.” Ben said. “It's not even emerald green. Now that's a color I like.”
“I like emeralds too.” Felicia said. “You did promise me something shiny....” She hinted.
“Maybe after we get there.” Ben said. “Let me pack my other suit and grab enough cash for us to get started.”
On the road to Bayville....
“Peter pull the car over.” May demanded.
“But...” Peter protested.
“Unless you want me to have another heart attack, pull the car over!” May nearly shouted.
“Yes Ma'am.” Peter said meekly.
Mary Jane snorted as the car came to a stop. “Are we there yet?” She asked as she sat up.
“Five minutes is all I ask.” May said as she got out of the car.
“I'll never get my license.” Peter said as he banged his head into the steering wheel.
“Let's just hope the tester doesn't have a heart condition.” Mary Jane said as she rustled his hair. “I'll go check on her.”
“Thanks.” Peter said softly as she got out of the car.
New York City....
Tony Stark stared at his life's work. The last key that had been needed in order to complete it was a project that had been farmed out to him from SHIELD. Metallurgical formulas that were years ahead of what he could have conceived on a productive acid trip. Not that he did those anymore.
He didn't tell SHIELD that he'd cracked the process needed to make the metals. It was bad enough the basics of his repulsor technology got grafted into that giant piece of killer plastic up in Bayville. He'd honed it down since then, but it still needed to have some kinks worked out.
“What to call it though?” He wondered. “Sentinel was an idea, but that's shot. Something starting with an S would probably have a negative public opinion as well.” He mused. He tapped it with a finger and it rang with a bell like sound. “Like an old church bell.... made of iron.” He said before rubbing his face with his hands. “I need a drink.”
“Lucy, I'm home!” Xander called after teleporting his wife and himself into the entryway of the old school. He sniffed the air. “Really? All of you?”
“What is it?” Cordelia asked him as he set her down.
“Everyone's having a nooner.” Xander said with a crinkled nose.
“Like, all together?” Cordelia asked with a frown. “What do they do here?”
“God, I hope not.” Xander shuddered. “As for what they do, I've read the progress reports. They're learning, in some cases faster than some of our own students.”
“I guess they have an incentive plan. I'd better check the stock of prophylactics in the infirmary. We left enough here to last an apocalypse, though in reality we probably wouldn't use them then.”
“Nothing like the end of the world to encourage premarital sex.” Xander said as he waggled his eyebrows.
“So should we 'christen' the place ourselves?” Cordelia asked.
“After Ben leaves.” Xander said. “Let's go check out the supplies.” He picked her up again and teleported them to the infirmary....
“You turned it into the A-Team van.” Xander said as he stared at Ben's customized DoomMobile.
“Well, the Scooby van was taken.” Ben shrugged. “Plus, I'm the badass one.”
“I'm the badass.” Xander said.
“You keep telling yourself that.” Ben grinned. “But I said it first.”
“Just go enjoy your vacation.” Xander sighed. “By the way, why is there a dented waffle iron in your room?”
“No power on Earth will get me to tell you that story.” Ben said with a shudder. “I thought I threw that out.”
“You did, I saved it for... sentimental reasons.” Felicia grinned as she lugged her last suitcase over to the van.
Ben shuddered again while Xander smirked.
“We're here.” Mary Jane said as she pulled the station wagon in front of the Xavier institute.
“It's nice to see one of you youngsters can drive.” May said as she pressed a button on the electric key that had been sent to her the week before. The gate opened and they drove inside.
“We're here.” Ben sighed as he set down all of Alicia's bags on the floor of their hotel room.
“That didn't take long.” She grinned. “Exactly how much can you teleport at once?”
“We haven't tried to find a top end to it.” Ben shrugged. “It used to be a strain to make the van invisible, but I can spread it around more than that now, but I still need to be in contact with it. I haven't tried to teleport a building yet, but we'll get there.”
“You and Xander are some sort of super mutants aren't you?” Felicia asked.
“I've done some blood tests on myself and I've found out that the amount of Mutant Growth Hormone in my system has increased since the first time I checked it. Not entirely sure what that means, but it has to reach a peak soon.” Ben explained. “I'm physically Twenty one, but I'm actually not even a year old yet.”
“Does that make me a pedophile?” She asked him.
“Let's go gambling!” She said as she tugged on his arm.
“You don't just maul a deer.” Doom instructed the life form. “If you wish to eat one, you should hunt it and then prepare it for use.”
“How do I do that?” It asked him.
Doom sighed. “Let's start from the beginning.”
“Dammit.... stop taunting me!” He yelled as he swiped at the apparition.... His clawed hands passed through it once again.
“You didn't think that would work this time did you?” It taunted. “I'm not going away Victor. Either you start listening, or it's going to get worse.”
“You're immaterial. What can you do?” Victor Creed snarled.
“Oh, not me. My followers.” the apparition smiled. “My followers are legion.”
Back in Vegas...
Ben looked over the floor as he entered the casino. Felicia was getting the chips and he wanted to get a feel of the room before attempting anything. He spotted a slim brunette at a roulette wheel. She looked mousy enough for the requirements for the favor Felicia owed him. He headed towards the table.
“Two more spins and I'm done.” She said to herself. “I need to save some of the money for law school.”
“Perfect.” Ben said to himself as he sat down at the table. He watched her place a ten dollar chip down on what he knew to be the wrong number. He handed the dealer a twenty and he gave him a twenty dollar chip. Ben placed the chip down on the number that felt right and the man spun the wheel. It stopped on his number.
“We have a winner!” the man announced.
“Crap.” The woman muttered.
Ben grinned and gave her some chips. “Follow my lead.” He told her as he placed a chip on one number, one on another and one on red.
She stared at him until he winked and she did the same.
The dealer called for no more bets and spun the wheel once again.
They won the color and the number.
“You ready to win again?” Ben asked her.
“Who are you?” She asked him.
“Ben Ravenson. You?” He said with a grin.
“Jennifer Walters.” She said before frowning. “You seem awfully sure of yourself.”
“I'm good at what I do.” Ben told her.
Felicia walked up, rack of chips in hand. “So, what did I miss?” She asked him.
“Favor thirty seven.” Ben told her as she sat at the table.
“Really?” She asked with a raised eyebrow as she looked at Jennifer.
“Am I missing something?” Jennifer asked them.
“Don't worry. I'll steer you around the curves.” Felicia said. “I'm Felicia.” She told the other woman offering her a hand to shake. “Nice to meet you.”
The Dealer coughed.
“Back to betting.” Ben said as he laid some chips down in a lazy manner. Jennifer followed him while Felicia just laid chips down on odd and black.
The Dealer spun the wheel.
“So what's favor thirty seven?” Jennifer asked them as the wheel spun.
Felicia tilted her head to one side. “I think you're too sober to know.” She told her before flagging a waitress.
“We have a winner.” The dealer announced.
Jennifer stared at her growing stack of chips. “I think I'll have that drink.” She said as she did the math.
Things were looking up. Maybe she'd have some money to give to Bruce tomorrow.
