Emma Frost was created by Chris Claremont and John Bryne.

Chapter 86:
The Hyperion Hotel
The morning after....

Jennifer Walters stumbled into the bathroom. It had been a long and fun night and she hadn't had as much sleep as she would have liked, but if she didn't get moving now, she'd be in bed all day.

She caught sight of her reflection in the mirror and paused. She was back to normal! She could go out in public again! He clothes would fit! This was great! Wasn't it? Wait... what if she changed like Bruce did. What would her trigger be?
30 minutes later....

Bruce Banner looked up from his morning crossword. “Jennifer?” He said in slight shock as his very normal looking cousin made her way downstairs. “You're... normal.” He said as he stood up. “Thank god you can change back.”

“So that wasn't a dream?” Jennifer asked him. “Or a one time thing?”

“No dream, and the odds of that being a one time incident are infinitesimally small.” Bruce told her. “Though we're going to have to determine if you have a trigger and if you're any different in that form mentally. That and your limits.”

“I'm also going to need clothes that survive the change.” Jennifer grinned. “Ben got a little... distracted yesterday.”

“Spare me the details.” Bruce pleaded. He couldn't even get close to being intimate with a woman due to his 'condition'.

“I will.” Jennifer grinned. “Look, I don't blame you. It could be worse right?” Jennifer asked him.

“Right, it could be worse.” Bruce agreed. “You're a lucky girl Jennifer.”

“I guess some of Ben's luck has rubbed off on me. Well that and other things.” She grinned.

“Again, spare me the details.” Bruce sighed.
Xavier's place... a week later....

“It's good to be home!” Forge sighed as he opened his lab. He turned on his computer and began to do a basic check of his equipment.

“Wait a second....” He said as he found a post-it note attached to a drawer. “I owe you two image inducers. Ben.” Forge read aloud. “Huh. He bypassed security completely. Crap. We'd better up security again, friendly intruder or not.”

It still wouldn't be enough for what was to come.
Xavier's place the next day....

“Another lap!” Logan called. “Two weeks off and you've all gotten soft!”

“But we exercised on the boat!” Tabitha huffed as she ran the lap.

“We also ate way too much.” Paige reminded her. “Good food at that.”

“I guess we did let ourselves go a bit.” Tabitha said as they finished the lap. “Not all of us have a healing factor that keeps us in prime physical condition.”

“I heard that Smith.” Logan called. “Just quit bitching. You all got a nice vacation for free. Now it's time to pay the piper. Now head inside, we've got two hours before dinner and you all need a run in the Danger Room.”

The crowd groaned but followed their teacher inside anyways.

Xander looked up from his sketchpad and at his wife who was on the phone.

“So who's coming down to the city to cover Peter's patrol routes now?” She asked into the receiver. “Really? Them? I suppose they've proved their competence, but it would be hard to fake Spider-Man sightings without a telepath. Scott and Jean would be better choice. They could use some time away from the mansion anyways, see the sights and tour the colleges here in the city. I know they're going to NYU like we will but it's still good to see other options. Right, we'll get them situated and show back up in two days. Thanks.” She hung up the phone.

“Who did they want to send?” Xander asked her.

“Kitty and Todd. Never mind the fact that neither one is close to having the amount of experience as Peter, they couldn't fake it very well save for the leaping on Todd's part.”

“Having a telepath come in would be better.” Xander agreed. “Make people think it's Peter and Mary Jane. Just because mutants are gradually becoming accepted doesn't mean they should all be out fighting crime. The untrained could cause all sorts of collateral damage.”

“Even you had a habit of breaking stuff at first.” She reminded him.

“I know.” He grinned. “Still, I got better. I guess this means we either need to pack, or dust off one of the other apartments.”

“Let's pack.” She told him. “The city's been fun, but it isn't home just yet.”

Xander nodded and closed his sketchpad. “Let's get to it.” He grinned.
Xavier's Place....
two nights later....

“You have fun in the city?” Logan asked him as he sipped his beer.

“I did, you have fun on the cruise?” Xander asked him as he looked at his hand. “Got any twos?”

“Go fish.” Logan told him with a grin. “Gotta say it was weird going on that trip.”

“The kids behave?” Xander asked him.

Logan gave him a look.

“Right, stupid question.” Xander chuckled. “Still....”

Both men paused as they turned to look towards the entrance of the kitchen.

“Someone's here.” Logan grunted. “Go invisible and ghost me. If they can get past the system...”

“Right.” Xander said as he disappeared from sight.

Logan coasted through the house on silent feet in search of the intruder as Xander drifted behind him.

They found her in the library.

“What hit me?” Logan asked as he came to.

“She had this funny little device that induces sleep.” Xander explained. “You're gonna love this Logan... She's you.”

“Say what?” Logan asked.

“She's a clone of you. Well a partial one I guess. She's an almost exact match for you except she's got two X chromosomes.” Xander explained. “Her mind's a real mess too. The Prof and Emma are working on sorting everything out in her head.”

“Who made her?” Logan snarled.

“HYDRA.” Xander told him. “She's got Adamantium laced bones as well. The foot claws were a surprise.” He said as he scratched his chest. “She damn near nicked my Aorta.”

“She got you?” Logan asked, surprised.

“She's vicious as hell Logan.” Xander said. “And she blames you.”

“Figures.” Logan muttered. “You guys check her for implants?”

“Removed three chips.” Xander told him. “She's free and clear.”

“Is Chuck really going to rewrite her brain?” Logan asked.

“She's a programmed assassin. Forced from birth to be a killer.” Xander explained. “There's no coming back from that without help.”

Logan nodded. “I want to see her.”

“I'll take you to her.” Xander said as he handed the man the remains of his beer. “Thought you might want to finish this before it gets too warm.”

“You're all heart kid.” Logan chuckled before sipping his beer and grimaced. “Flat.”

“So what's the plan Chuck?” Logan asked as he looked at the sleeping form of what could be considered a sister. “She's been trained as an assassin. That leaves a mark.”

“I've spoken with the girls of the house.” Charles sighed. “It shames me to want to do this Logan, but she needs to be reprogrammed. Now that she's been captured, she wants us all dead. We have to construct a new set of memories for her. One that can supplant her current ones. As for her training and skills... If you're willing we can make it like she learned them from you.”

“You know how I feel about mucking about with minds Chuck.” Logan said with a growl. “But they did this to her to make her a weapon. If we take away the training, they'll manage to grab her again somewhere down the road. The fact that she's got the metal... she's too valuable for HYDRA or anyone to let her go without a fight. She needs to be stable, but she needs the training... Build her a life Chuck. One with me as her Father I guess.”

“I pray we won't regret this Logan.” Charles told him.

“She'll need the truth. We can't lie to her. She should know what she's getting into, even if we're forcing it.” Logan told him.

“Let's get to work.” Charles said. “Xander will keep an eye out for any other unexpected guests while we work.”
3 hours later, outside the house...

“I can't let you in.” Xander said to Fury.

“She's here.” Fury stated. It wasn't a question.

“She is. The chips were destroyed after being taken miles from here.” Xander told him. “She's a broken soul Fury.”

“I know. That's why I want her for SHIELD.” Fury told him. “We can fix what's been done to her.”

“Liar.” Xander chuckled. “She's being fixed now. Xavier and the rest are making sure she's going to be sane after tonight.”

“That isn't your call.” Fury said.

“It was Logan's. His clone, his responsibility.” Xander said. “It's something that's come up recently. We take care of our own.”

“You're.....” Fury trailed off.

“Unless you're secretly HYDRA.... she isn't yours either.” Xander told him. “If they come looking for her, we'll deal.”

“We could have used someone like her.” Fury told him.

“Not today.” Xander said. “You don't get to make weapons out of people who haven't volunteered for it.”

“Somebody already did.” Fury pointed out.

“True, but our claim is greater than yours.” Xander grinned. “Later Nick.” He said before walking back towards the house.

Fury stared as the mutant walked away. “Dammit.” He muttered before heading back to his vehicle. Another possible recruit was taken from him.

“We still need a name.” Charles said softly to Emma.

“Laura Kinney.” Emma suggested. “The wife from the movie 'Multiplicity'”

“That could work.” Charles said before closing his eyes once more.
Dawn, the next morning....

“How do you feel?” Charles asked Laura.

“Tired.” She said softly. “Thank you.”

“Rest young one. We'll all still be here when you wake up.” Charles assured her.

Laura nodded before falling asleep.

Los Angeles....

“Okay, we figured out one trigger.” Jennifer said with a laugh.

“So, tickling... check.” Ben said. “What about.... this?”

Jennifer jumped “You know I can't change into it when I'm already green.” She said with a grin.

“I know, I just think pinching you is fun.” Ben told her.

“We have to focus Ben. Law school starts in a couple of weeks and I need to get this down by then.” Jennifer said as she slapped at his wandering hands.

“I'm sorry.” Ben said with a grin. “You just smell.... so good.”

“You're weird.” She told him.

“Pot to the kettle at this point.” Ben told her. “Come on, let's get you back to normal and try to trigger the change another way.”

“How am I supposed to get back to normal?” She asked.

“Well sleep does it for one, what about willing the change? We've already proven you're not exactly like your cousin.” Ben asked.

“But I like being like this.” Jennifer protested.

“Which might be a problem in the future.” Ben told her. “Having power is... intoxicating at best. We don't even know if this alters your brain chemistry yet. We'll have to go over to the Xavier institute to check that.”

Jennifer stared at him. He wasn't kidding. She took a couple of deep breaths and focused on changing back into Jennifer Walters. There was a flash of green light and a DOINK noise. She was back to being Jennifer again.

“Well, that was... interesting.” Ben grinned.

“What?” She asked him

“Doink.” Ben said. “You went Doink.”

“I'll doink you.” Jennifer growled as she began to turn green.

“So anger works as well.” Ben told her as he dodged a swat.

“Get back here and let me hit you!” Jennifer yelled

“Wow, this sounds familiar for some reason.” Ben said as he ducked another swing from a longer arm.

“She-Hulk Smash!” Jennifer snarled.

“You're kidding right?” Ben asked as he stopped dodging

She flicked him in the forehead with a finger.

“Ouch!” Ben said as he rubbed his forehead. “Guess so.”

Xavier's place... the Next day....

“She's staring at you again.” Cordelia whispered to her husband.

“I see that.” Xander nodded. “Not much I can do about it is there?”

“I guess not, it's just.... kind of creeping me out.” Cordelia told him.

“What do you want me to do?” He asked.

“Talk to her.” She whispered.

“I will. Just... later.”

“You know something don't you?” She hissed.

“I think she likes me.” Xander whispered.

“Not again.” Cordelia sighed.

“Chicks dig the fuzzy dudes.” Xander grinned.

“She's ready.” Essex told Mesmero.

“Excellent. It's time to proceed with opening the third door.” Mesmero grinned. Soon, Apocalypse would rise....
Four Freedoms Plaza....

Reed Richards stared at what the sensors were telling him. The Herald was almost here. Galactus was coming. He needed to contact Victor. Time was of the essence.
