I don't own the X-Men, those belong to Marvel Comics and were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby
Emma Frost was created by Chris Claremont and John Bryne.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was created By Joss Whedon and all the characters with the BTVS TV series are his as well.
The Thundercats were created by Ted Wolf and currently belong to Warner Brothers, at one point in time Marvel comics did do a run of the them in comics form, although DC comics do them now.
AN: I'm heading out of town to go to a wedding. I won't be able to update again for a few days.
“You were right to call me.” Doom said as he stared at the star charts. “It'll be here in a matter of hours. We need to gather them.”
“I'll contact Stephen and alert the President. Can you get the others?” Reed asked him
“This is beyond our rivalry.” Doom sighed. “The world comes first I suppose.”
“This isn't some mad grab for power on your part?” Reed asked him.
“Not this time. I suppose you could say I've mellowed.” Doom said with a chuckle. “I'll contact the mystics I know. Maybe one of them has an artifact or two with the power to help us.”
“Victor.... what's up?” Xander said into the phone. “What's coming? You're certain? What can we do? You want me to what? That's a hell of a gamble. How many worlds have been destroyed? That many? I'll contact my clone. He has access to an artifact as well.”
“What's going on?” Cordelia asked him as she awoke.
“Nothing you can do anything about.” Xander told her. “Go back to sleep.”
“All right.” She said as Xander slipped out of bed and got dressed.
He slipped out of the room and up into the girl's wing. He knocked on Wanda's door.
“What is it?” Wanda asked as she opened the door a crack.
“Big problem headed our way. There isn't much time. I need help from all the magic users I can get.” Xander told her.
“Give me five minutes.” She said before closing the door.
Xander nodded before calling his clone on his cell phone.
“I'm a little busy right now.” Ben said into the phone. “What's coming? You're joking. What can I do? I'll be there shortly.” Ben said before hanging up. He sighed. “I have to go. World endage.” He told them.
“Really?” Felicia asked him.
“It's a few months later than it normally is, but yeah.” Ben said. “I'll be back.” He slipped on some pants, grabbed his hammer and vanished from the room.
“Well that sucks.” Jennifer said as she sat up. “Why didn't he want us to help?”
“It might not be our specialty.” Felicia shrugged. “If he needed a heavy hitter or a thief, he'd tell us.”
The White House....
“Dear god, what is that?” The President said as he stared at the images Richard's had sent him.
“It's Galactus' world killer.” Richards said over the videophone. “It converts planets into viable energy for him to consume.”
“Where did you get all this information?” The President asked.
“You've been briefed on the Negative Zone. Some ships escaped into it when he came to their worlds.” Richards said. “I'm sorry, I have to cut this short sir. If you could relate this information to the other countries, it would be much appreciated. Have their armies on alert to assist the public once the arms come down. I can't tell you where they'll be.”
“Can you save us?” The President asked.
“We'll do our best sir.” Richards said softly before closing down the link.
The President swore before picking up the old hot line to Russia. “Damn world crisis.”
The top of Four Freedoms Plaza....
15 minutes later....
“Are you sure this is going to be enough?” Reed asked Doom as he stared at the six mystic users that had gathered on the rooftop.
“We've got Agatha Harkness, Stephen Strange, one of his students and two people wielding mystical weapons as well as myself. If this isn't enough... who else can we call?” Doom asked.
“I can think of two people.” Cheshire said. “Well, not people exactly. But they're not exactly easy to reach.”
Stephen Strange perked up. “That could work.” He said as the skies began to darken. He began to incant something and crimson energy coalesced around Cheshire before shooting skyward.
“What did you just do?” Reed asked him.
“I invited two Gods to attend.” Strange said. “They might be enough to tip the scales in our favor.”
“You rang?” A voice said from off to the side.
The group turned and saw two men standing on the rooftop.
“Loki. Thor.” Cheshire half bowed to the two Norse Gods. “Welcome back to Midgard.”
“Well it might not be here for long.” Loki grinned. “We're glad you called. If you hadn't, we wouldn't have been able to help.”
Thor nodded. “We've few worshipers in this day and age. If the fiend from beyond the heavens destroys this realm, we would fade over time.”
“So, let's get this thing over with.” Loki grinned as he rubbed his hands together. “One Ultimate Nullifier coming up.”
“How do....” Reed trailed off. “Right.”
From the distance, A silver figure on a surfboard watched the gathering with interest. Perhaps this world would survive where so many others had failed.
It was shame he'd have to try to stop them.. As a herald his actions not always his own.
As Xander and the others were trying to save the world, The X-Mansion slept on. They didn't hear the alarms that went off, they didn't know they had an intruder.
She traveled through the house with a speed not her own, touching each and every resident of the mansion in turn. Their powers were imprinted onto her and she moved onto her next targets in South Dakota.
In the distance, Mesmero laughed.
Four Freedoms Plaza....
“Seven should be enough.” Loki said to Thor. “Take care of the damned soul would you brother?”
Thor grinned. “Aye, this herald has doomed too many worlds without punishment.” He said before hefting his hammer and taking flight.
Thunder crashed in the distance as Thor battled the man coated in silver.
All seven figures had ethereal energy of different colors flowing from them and the objects they carried. The colors flowed into a glowing circle that had odd symbols that were shifting and changing into others. The circle flashed and a small device appeared in the center of the circle. The people around it fell. Each were suffering from various levels of exhaustion.
“It's in your hands now Richards.” Doom said as he tried to move. “Threaten him, destroy him.... just make him go away.”
Reed grabbed the weapon and headed inside the building. He needed to contact the being in order to relay the threat.
Ten minutes later.....
“What the?” Galactus said as he played the message. “How did they get a hold of the nullifier?” He wondered as he checked the monitors for the latest sensor readouts. “Well played... humans.”
He checked the sensors that were directed towards Earth and shook his head. “This Herald cannot defeat one Human. He is of little use to me now. A new Herald will be found once I've fed again.”
He pressed a button on his controls that recalled the nullifier. It would reappear once he left the system. The creators of the Nullifier were a mystery even to him. He was the guardian of the weapon that could be his undoing, but under certain circumstances he could lose it for periods of time.
He pressed one more button on his console and a unique energy field encompassed the planet. It not only marked it as untouchable to his heralds, it would keep the Surfer restrained as punishment.
“NOOOOOOOO!!!” The Silver Surfer screamed as he received one last message from his master.
Thor lowered his hammer. Something had broken this warrior's spirit. “You've fought well silver one. Come, we shall share stories over a feast fit for the gods.”
The Silver Surfer sighed. He was just doing his job.
Four Freedoms Plaza....
“Well, that was entertaining.” Loki said as he watched his accursed brother come down with the former herald of Galactus. “I'm feeling a bit peckish.”
“I could eat.” Stephen said with a grin.
“IHOP?” Cheshire offered.
“Sounds good.” Wanda agreed.
“That's great. I've got something I want to get back to.” Ben told them. “It's been fun.” He said before vanishing.
“Well, I suppose.” Agatha Harkness said. “They have bacon right?”
“Of course.” Reed Richards said. “Let me call the president and tell him we're safe first.”
“Wouldn't the very visible ship disappearing from the sky be a clue?” Xander asked him.
“He's a politician.” Reed pointed out.
“He's got a point.” Doom stated.
“IHOP in fifteen then.” Cheshire said with a nod.
“Move over.” Ben said as he crawled into bed.
“What have you been up to?” Felicia asked him.
“Don't want to talk about it. Sleep.” Ben sighed as he crawled under the covers.
“WHAT'S GOING ON?” Bobby shouted to Jamie.
“I THINK THE ALARM IS GOING OFF!” The younger mutant shouted.
“WHAT?” Bobby yelled.
The wailing sound stopped.
“I SAID I THINK THE ALARM...” Jamie trailed off. “is going off.” He finished in his inside voice.
“Let's go see what's up. That level of noise isn't for a robin hitting a window.” Bobby suggested.
“Good idea.” Jamie said before blinking. “I can't believe I said that.”
“Hey!” Bobby groused.
The Security Room...
“What the?” Logan said as he looked at the security monitors. It showed a blur moving down the halls into each room. He managed to get a frame with an only slightly blurred image. He ran it through the imaging software and managed to get a face.
“Anna?” Logan said as he redid the scan. “Wait, this one's got a shaved head.” He pulled up the real time feed. “She's got hair now. Shit... not again.” Logan muttered. He sighed. “What is it with this fucking house and clones?”
10 minutes later....
“Chuck, we got a problem.” Logan said as he entered Xavier's office.
“I'm aware Logan. I just got off the phone with Eric. It seems his compound had been broken into and all of his people drained.” Xavier told him.
“That's both of us then. I think Anna got cloned by whoever did it to Xander.” Logan told him. “She had Pietro's speed. That's how she got around so quickly.”
“One mystery solved. The question is, what does this have to do with that giant spider Eric fought?”
“Have you cross referenced it with Xander's books?”
“It was a guardian of sorts. Destroying it opened a door to the end, but the world is still spinning.” Xavier said. “The second door to be opened.... Oh dear.”
“What is it Chuck?” Logan asked.
“Unless we can find that temple... Apocalypse is going to awaken. Where is Xander?” Charles asked Logan.
“Out. Something is on the news about an alien ship or something.” Logan shrugged. “Wanda left with him.”
Xavier looked up. “They're back. They went to... IHOP?” Xavier wondered. “Odd.”
“Let's see what we can find out. If we can't find the temple... we're fucked aren't we?” Logan asked him.
“Probably.” Xavier agreed. “I do have to remind you not to use such language in front of the children.”
“They ain't in here Chuck.” Logan said before going off to find Xander. He needed to know what the hell was happening.
“So what happened out here while I was gone?” Xander asked as he sat down at the kitchen table.
“Some sort of security alert.” Cordelia told him. “None of us heard it though. We were all out for a while.”
“Weird. Sleep spell?” Xander asked.
“Something like that.” Logan said as he came into the room. “Anna here got cloned somehow. That clone ran around both here and at the sanctuary draining everybody she could come in contact with. We think it's related to The third door of where Apocalypse is sealed, but we're not sure.”
“Let me check the references. I can tell you now that none of them actually disclose the location of the temple.” Xander said as he rubbed his face. “I'm getting too old for this shit.”
“Long day?” Cordelia asked him.
“I don't want to talk about it.” Xander told her. “At least not right now.” He said before he got up to head to the library.
20 minutes later....
Xander stared at the three monitors with the different references on them. The third book didn't make any sense until you put the first two into context. As it stood Xander was trying to translate the final phrase from bastardized phonetic ancient Egyptian. “One that can take the shape of the asp and of man... The last key is a..... shapeshifter.” Xander said. “Oh shit. They've got mom.” He looked up from the monitors. “The last key is Mystique.”
“Then what did they need a clone of Anna for?” Logan asked.
“Apocalypse has been in a forced slumber. He might need something to jump start his system. A... battery.” Xavier mused. “Anna's potential... all that power in a single body.”
“We're doomed.” Kurt moaned.
“Well, I can honestly say I've been through worse.” Xander sighed. “I'll contact Fury. Maybe they'll be able to find out where this is happening.”
He pulled out his cell phone and stared dialing.
“Yeah.” Fury said as he answered his private line. “We're looking at it right now. You're not going to like it. It's in Egypt. The Temple of the First One, whatever that is.” Fury pulled the phone away from his ear. “What kid? What is it?”
Back in the Library....
“We're fucked! We're so fucked!” Xander swore. “Apocalypse is his alias! He's En Sabah Nur, the First One. The first mutant. The one who had the eye of the ages.... power of the heavens...”
Cordelia slapped him. “Snap out of it and tell us what is going on!” She ordered.
“En Sabah Nur... He's a legend. The first mutant. He had an empire, forged by the weapons of the heavens themselves.... He could make gods out of mortal men...” Xander tried to explain. “ He was sealed away, betrayed by his own people. The world forgot. It had to in order to survive.... We are so totally fucked. It took a lot to be considered a god back then, trickery or not. If he's risen... then we need to stop him.” Xander said.
He put his phone back to his ear...
“What do you mean the temple's been destroyed?” He half yelled. “Where is he now?” He hung up the phone.
“They lost him.” Xander said. “There was some activity in the Himalaya mountains after the temple collapsed in Egypt and they lost him.”
“What are we going to do?” Cordelia asked him.
“He's been imprisoned for 5000 years.” Xander said. “Whatever he's going to do, I doubt it'll be on a slow schedule. He'll pop up. We'll do what we can when he does.”
“That might be all we can do.” Charles said softly.
