Raven Darkholme awoke when she felt the pain in her hand.
“Relax Raven, it's just an IV.” Came a soft feminine voice.
“Irene? What? Why do I feel so bad?” She asked her oldest friend
“You're severely dehydrated and low on just about everything. I've got some food made up. You need to eat.” Irene Adler told her.
“But... what happened? I don't get sick, not like this.” Raven said as she sipped the water she'd been given.
“You're not sick exactly. What do you remember?” Irene asked her.
“Victor.” She said softly.
“Yes, Victor. You slept with him again. I won't condemn you for your actions. Last time you slept with him you ended up with Graydon, a perfectly normal human. This time, it's on the other end of the spectrum.” Irene told her.
The mutant known as Mystique raised her arm and felt an abnormally swollen midsection. “Oh dear.” she said softly.
“That is an understatement. By this rate of growth you'll be giving birth in less than three hours. You need to eat.” Irene said.
Raven nodded. “You always take care of me Irene.”
“Only when I know I need to Raven.” Irene said. “Only when I need to.” She said before heading to the kitchen to get the simple food she'd prepared.
“It's shifting positions.” Raven said as she finished eating a fairly massive quantity of food.
Irene nodded. “I'll go draw the bath.”
“Focus on the sound of my voice Raven. Control your body, fight off the pain and focus on shifting what you need to in order to get this child out of you as fast as possible.” Irene told her.
Raven took a deep breath and moments later Irene was cutting the umbilical cord and slapping the baby.
Raven stared at the blue skinned child when Irene removed it from the water. It looked so much like her, she watched it take it's first breath, and she watched it vanish from sight.
“What?” Raven asked.
“His mutation is active. It's a defense mechanism.” Irene said as she lay the baby on a towel and helped Raven get out of the bathtub. “Don't worry about the mess, Raven. I'll take care of it. Let's get you back into bed with your son.” Irene said. As she helped the two back to Raven's bedroom.
“I'll have to tell Erik about him.” Raven said softly as she held her child. “His mutation is active already. What class is he?” She asked Irene.
“It doesn't matter old friend.” Irene said as she pulled a crystal out of her purse. “Sleep” She commanded.
Both Raven and her newborn were asleep seconds later.
Irene put the crystal back into her purse and pulled out another one with a shaking hand. “Forget.” she commanded.
This Crystal turned black, not that she saw it.
Sighing she pulled another crystal. “Clean.” she said softly. The apartment rippled as though a soft breeze went through it. All traces of the birth were removed from the apartment. Irene picked up the sleeping child and wrapped him in a towel. She gathered her things and quietly left the apartment.
Outside the apartment complex, a man was waiting in a car. Irene opened the passenger door and strapped the child into the safety seat in the backseat of the vehicle.
“Damn he's blue!” The man said in a British accent.
“That he is Ethan.” Irene said as she put the seat back and got in the car.
“The spells work?” Ethan asked her.
“You doubt your own work Ethan?” Irene asked him.
“Of course not, just asking.” Ethan said indignantly.
Irene turned her head to face the direction she'd just come from. She wouldn't see her friend until after she'd come back from Europe. It would be some time until then.
“Drive Ethan, I want this done.” Irene said.
Ethan started the car.
The Back room of Rainy Day Entertainment, three hours later.
“It's done.” Ethan said as he rolled up his sleeves.
“You managed to seal off his mutation entirely?” Irene asked him.
“Yeah, took a bit more power than I thought it would though. I had to tap into another source.” Ethan said with a wince as his arm throbbed momentarily. “Speaking of which, I probably need to leave town.” the Mage said.
“Two days before any dreams would come here.” Irene told him.
Ethan nodded. “Now about payment?”
Irene dug through her purse and pulled out a list.
“What's this?” Ethan asked her.
“A list of where the Watcher's Council will not be for the next sixteen years. Go there at those times and you won't worry about any reprisals from your... actions. Former and future.” Irene told him.
“Good, that'll certainly do for payment.” Ethan said as he eyed the list with glee.
“The sealing, it is permanent right?” Irene asked him.
Ethan winced. “Mostly. I couldn't find him if I wanted to but yeah, as long as no one else with the same ties to the power I used to complete the spell uses magic on him, he'll be 100% normal. The odds of that anyways are astronomical. Right now only four people bear the mark I have. At least that I know of.”. He told her.
Irene nodded. “It will have to do. Call me a cab. It's been fun Ethan.”
“Anytime Destiny.” Ethan Rayne said with a grin.
“Where to lady?” The cabbie asked the woman wearing sunglasses.
“Wolfram and Hart.” Irene Adler said.
The cabbie raised his eyebrows but started driving anyways.
“Welcome to Wolfram and Hart. How can we help you today?” The secretary asked the woman with the sleeping baby.
“I'm here to see Holland Manners. I've an appointment.” She told the secretary.
“You must be his three o'clock. Go on up Miss Adler.” The secretary told her.
Irene nodded and headed for the elevators.
“Irene Adler, the mutant seer known as Destiny.” Holland Manners said as the woman came into his office. “A known seer coming into this law firm. Not the best of ideas.” The lawyer said.
Irene shrugged. “I come requiring services you can provide Manners. I pay, and give you a personal prophecy and I go on my way. I've seen it.”
Holland nodded. “What can we do for you?” He asked her.
“This child needs to go through your adoptive services. I don't care which one as long as it's on the west coast of this country.” She said while gesturing to the baby in her arms with her head. “Also.” She said as she reached into her purse. “This crystal needs to be kept in a safe deposit box.” she told him.
Holland eyed the black crystal. “Whose child is this?” He asked her.
“It doesn't matter. Do this for me Holland, do so and postpone your death.” Irene told him.
Holland sighed. “All right. Does he have a name?”
“Alexander.” Irene said softly.
Happy Nappy diaper services
Los Angeles 3 hours later.
“Heads up we've got another arrival!” The man called as the portal spell spat out another child.
“That makes enough for the Wilkins request.” His coworker said. “We've got the dossiers on all potential parental match ups, don't screw up this time. Make sure the kids at least look like the parents. We don't need a repeat mistake like the last one.”
“That wasn't my fault. That was all Johnson.” the man defended.
“And Johnson's dead now isn't he? Don't screw it up.”
Sunnydale General Hospital
“Mr. Harris?” The 'doctor' said.
“Yeah doc? My wife, how is she?” Tony Harris asked the man.
“Your wife is fine, as is your son. They should both be ready to go home tomorrow.” The doctor said.
“Very, a big baby too. Your wife wants to call him Alexander, is that all right?” The 'doctor' asked.
“Yeah, that's great. Can I see them?” Tony said.
