A/N: The show and characters are not mine by legal means only in my fantasies. I also don’t mean to offend anyone etc etc…I also will be posting them as I type them up b/c I write my fics the lame old inefficient way via pen and paper then I have to type type type them up. And it is Un-Betad and a bit rough too. This is also the first of a series of chapters all dedicated to different AU love stories---most will be tragic. Inspired by Tammy Cochran’s “Life Happened,” though the fics don’t follow the lyrics at all.
Abby was not having a good year. Hell it wasn’t a good decade or even a good life. First, her family had torn her apart as a girl. She’d been left with little; she barely had a hold on her mind. She knew Gibbs and the others were concerned, especially when she had started screaming only to whimper a bit as well. She could well imagine how pathetic she seemed.
First Kate had been killed, then Jenny and now her damned fool of a knight. She’d gotten the news over her phone. Sitting at lunch with the team, she hadn’t known that day her life would change once again but for good this time. Reception had been barely enough to convey his death. She knew when that witch had gotten on the phone that it was all over. Their decade long gig was up.
With a gasp, she could barely contain her grief. Disbelief had flooded her mind within moments, praying it wasn’t true she couldn’t do anything but cry out. Her phone had fallen at that point and all she knew was her lover was gone. The father of her children had gone out in a blaze of glory. He had died as he had lived foolhardy yet brave all at the same time. That didn’t mean she wanted to be true though. No matter how much Red had claimed he’d saved the world it still hurt.
She knew Gibbs had grabbed her phone, had started berating the redhead on the other side of the line. He probably wouldn’t laugh though if he knew. And she felt Tony and Tim grasp her body as gently as possible from both sides. It didn’t help.
