“Jason Gideon?”

Gideon turned to look at the delivery man. “Yes?”

“I have a delivery for you. If you could sign right here.”

Gideon signed the paper and waited patiently for a box. To his surprise and the shock of his coworkers, the man handed over a small boy. Ajusting his grip, to more firmly hold the toddler, He stared at the child for a few minutes before looking up to question the man, but he was already gone.

“Wait!” Morgan asked, “Where’d he go?”

Gideon turned back to the kid in his arms. The child was quiet. But as the adults around him studied him, the boy turned to hide his face in Gideon’s chest. He couldn’t have been more than two with tossled brown hair and brown eyes that would peek out to see what they were doing. His dark blue shirt fit him perfectly and had some sort of sparkly light blue lettering on it.

Reid tilted his head. “Con? Gideon . . . if you could maybe turn him forward.” Reid gestured. Gideon looked down and saw what Reid was getting at. Turning him so he faced the front, the child looked wearily around and began to suck on his finger.

The team stared in stunned silence. Finally Morgan broke the silence. “Uhm. . .Gideon, something you wanna tell us?”

Gideon looked down at the child in his arms. Reading the message on the child’s shirt upside down, he paled as the words sunk in. On the child’s shirt in blue sparkly print were the simple words ‘Congrats, DAD!’
