It was raining again. That seems to be all it does in Seattle. It's been a while; since I hunted vampires. It would be dangerous to surround myself with the vamps potential victims. It would be better to lead the fucker away from the sheep. Still, it was better than sitting inside reading Turn of the Screw again. I put on my jacket and made my way to downtown Seattle.

Twenty minutes later, although it could have been ten if I had ran. I stood at the edge of the park; trying desperately to contain my growing thirst for the kill. My slayer sense of smell was astute due to the rain today. The scent of the vamp's nest was blown towards me by the howling winds; muted a little by the torrential rain. This had been a bad idea. I began to think.

Until a wave of an unfamiliar emotion washed over me; slight impatience, and something more. I turned, trying to locate its source and the most beautiful of smells hit me. Not human, but close. Later, I would find out the term Transgenic. I faintly recognized it something from another life; it was him my soul-mate. The future I wanted to have, but Buffy always seem to attain. Alec appeared to be in or near the shabby diner which; had probably served as a speakeasy in the distant days of prohibition.

Again came the scent; drowning out the hundred others that had passed me that day intoxicating and wonderful. I crossed the street to the narrow pavement almost completely submerged by water. The diner- ‘Pete’s Diner’ according to the sign above its entrance- was half-empty. There were a few customers inside ordering cup after cup of coffee in order to wait out the storm outside.

There was one customer who I realized was being eyed warily by the staff. He sat alone with a full cup of coffee and an untouched bagel. His beautiful green eyes expectant. It was him. The scent I had smelt and the emotion I had sensed. He was a transgenic. There was no doubt about it; the pale skin, golden green eyes with little to no self esteem in them. He had unnerving beauty. Yet, this transgenic was far more beautiful than any other I’d known; including the one I saved earlier that day.

The transgenic's jeans were faded and his shirt was Abercrombie. His hair was wild, but pulled off of his face. He wore round sun glasses, probably to disguise the unusual color of his eyes, but had no jacket with him despite the rain outside. This would explain the strange looks he was receiving. He had most likely been sitting in that seat still as a statue for days on end. I noticed that the bagel on the table in front of him had a small patch of mold creeping around it.

He slid off of the stool he had been perched upon and walked; no danced towards me smiling.

“You’ve kept me waiting a long time.” Waiting for what? I was intrigued, but very cautious not to offend him.

“I’m sorry,” I replied, in the quiet diner.

He smiled again. the transgenic introduced himself, “I’m Alec. Alec McDowell, and you’re Faith. I am pleased to meet you.”

I stood stunned; as he slipped his hand into mine .He led me out of ‘Pete’s’. I could have let go of his hand, returned to Cleveland or destroyed him like a vamp within seconds if I wanted; but his emotion was compelling and addictive. I continued to hold on and followed him; well aware of the eyes boring into us as we left.
