Chapter One

A/N: Hey guys, hope you like, just my take on an old chestnut. Disclaimer: I have and make no claim to BtVS, Harry Potter or anything else that doesn't belong to me, including this laptop. Please review, let me know what you think! thanks for reading, love xx Shezzi

Dawn sat opposite the guidance councilor, eyes tearing slightly. “I just wish…that I mattered enough to be noticed, that I was somewhere where someone really needed me and loved me, where I could protect someone as well as being protected,” she whispered as a single tear slipped over the edge and down her cheek.

“I wish…” the boy started slowly, his voice barely a whisper, staring out across the garden swimming in heat haze at the lady standing by the fence with a friendly smile on her face, his hands stinging from tiny cuts caused by the rose bushes he was pruning, head aching from the blow his cousin had dealt him earlier, “I wish that I had someone who really cared, a family member who actually loved me.”

“I just wish that I didn’t have to be responsible for her, that someone else would take care of her and I didn’t have to worry all the time,” Buffy mumbled, looking slightly ashamed of her feelings before a horrified expression crossed her face as she realized what she had done.

“Wishes…granted,” the Justice demon smiled, imagining the chaos she had just created in the Wizarding World, not an easy place to stir up trouble.

On a higher plane three beings, in the current day and age referred to as the powers that be, breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s got the Key out of the picture,” one of them reported to the other two. “You were right, the Justice Demon was the right one to take care of that situation. Now the only thing to do is fix the memories so there is no repeat of the unfortunate event when the witch brought back the Slayer. With the loss of the Key as the sacrifice, reducing some of the Slayer’s drive, the balance is tipped back, stopping the First’s push into our dimension.”

“Send Whistler to take care of it,” ordered the third as she slipped a new thread into her weave and smiled at the new colours that suddenly appeared in the tapestry as it affected the threads around it. “Much, much better.”
