Disclaimer: Faith, Buffy, Giles & Co belong to Joss Whedon. The Twilight characters belong to Stephenie Meyer. I believe Professor Diana Dormer belongs to Robert Joseph Levy.

A/N: {Conversation noted in this manner indicates Edward’s telepathy at work.}

Jasper was indulging in one of his favorite activities - watching Faith sleep. He inhaled deeply the scent of warm, soft woman while he listened to her rhythmic breathing and the slow, steady beat of her heart. A heart he hoped he was in… she’d been somewhat distant since Seattle but with everything that had gone on he had not been able to talk with her about it.

Jasper continued to watch Faith, it was all the more confusing because he had never felt so human in his entire life – not even when he was human… so far as he could recall. When he had been alive all of his thought had been bent on a soldier’s glory. The war had not been as glorious as he had hoped nor had his time leading the vampire army for Maria.

Jazz had finally let Faith in on the plans the vamp clan had made for Bel. She and Ed would be marking the chosen clearing with drops of her blood and then Jacob would take her from the clearing to cover her scent. The plan was to stash her away in a remote location in the mountains. Anywhere in Forks or La Push the vamps would be able to follow her scent and it could potentially lead them to her or someone close to her.

“I’ll bet Ed was thrilled with the Jake-plan,” Faith commented when Jazz finished telling her.

He looked grim, “His scent should cover hers enough to keep any vampires from tracking them.”

Next Ed and Jazz would run up to meet them at the camping spot. Seth as the werewolf rep would be joining them on his own using directions from Jake.

“So what about me?” Faith asked.

“You will camp with us of course.”

‘Of course,’ Faith thought. Jazz needed to learn she wasn’t Bella. ‘Right, I guess I’ll just ride my bike up then?’ Running all the way up a mountain was a bit beyond even Slayer strength and stamina.

Friday afternoon…

Charlie had a whole weekend of fishing on the reservation planned with Billy Black. They would be taking the two youngest wolves, Collin and Brady, with them just in case so that Billy could be alerted of any extra precautions he needed to take with Charlie.

Charlie believed that Bella was spending the weekend with Professor Dormer and Faith. He seemed happy to hear that she was spending some time without Edward.

Faith was worried about Jazz which was silly. 'He’s practically indestructible and can hold his own in a fight,' she told herself.
She felt sorry for Bella who was going to be miles away waiting for some news of how her love was doing. ‘Even if said love is also unbreakable,’ Faith thought with a small smile. Faith knew she'd at least have the pleasure of fighting by Jazz’s side. She wished there were less on their team…not enough dusting for her.

Faith was in the kitchen shrugging into her leather jacket and arguing with D about getting out of Forks.

“D, it’s not gonna be safe in town.”

“Honestly Faith I am not feeble!” the Professor’s eyes flashed angrily.

“D, I have to be in the clearing to fight with the others, the vamps could just as easily trace Bella here as anywhere else…Please?”

After what seemed like hours of persuading, Faith finally got the Prof to agree to make a trip to Olympia for some books.

Late Friday night…

The wind shook the tent and Bella shook with it. The temperature was dropping steadily. "W-what t-time is it?” Bella forced the words out between her chattering teeth.

“Midnight,” Jasper answered his eyes flickering toward the tent door again. Faith had said she would be there by ten, but that was before the storm started.

“Bella, we should take you someplace else,” Edward began.

“No, I don’t w-want to go outside,” she protested. “Be-besides, we did all of that work setting everything up.”

Faith had ridden her Harley as far up the mountain as she could. She laid her precious bike down, feeling guilty as she walked away. She began the hike up to the tent, pausing to set a few trip wires on her way.

“For all the good these are gonna do buried in snow,” she muttered as she set the last trap.

When she finally arrived, Seth was outside the tent door curled up with his tail covering his nose. “You gonna be okay out here teen wolf?” Faith asked. He gave her a wolfish grin and bobbed his head.

She stepped into the tent, “statement of the obvious I know, but there’s a frickin’ blizzard out there.” She shook the snow out of her hair.

“Hey guys, what’s going on with Bels?” Faith asked. She noticed they were as far away from the other girl as they could get… which was wicked strange for Ed.

“I think it is too cold for her,” Edward explained. “We tried moving away from her, perhaps if we went outside?”

“Nah, as long as you aren’t putting your ice cube hands on her, can’t see it making much difference. It’s colder outside.”

“Ed-dward don’t go,” Bella said plaintively.

“Shh, my darling, I’m right here.”

“I’ll get ya warmed right up Bels,” Faith said cheerfully as she shucked her leather jacket and boots. She began unzipping the sleeping bag.

“N-no, I’m ok-k-kay,” Bel protested.

Faith crammed herself into the sleeping bag. “Christ, you’re freezing!” she glared at the guys, “Who picked this brilliant camping spot anyway?”

Edward looked guilty but didn’t say anything.

“Teen wolf, get in here!” Faith bellowed. There was a scratching at the tent door. Faith glared, “One of you want to make yourself useful and get the door?”

She ordered Seth to curl up on the other side of Bella. Once her muscle spasms stopped, Faith pulled Bel’s coat off. Faith noticed the way Ed and Jazz were watching them as they snuggled together, her eyes lit up and she began to hum. Bella listened for a moment, then she giggled and began humming along. Seth laughed his coughing wolf-laugh and thumped his tail on the tent floor.

Jasper picked that moment to think about what Faith had told him days before. {“I made out with a girl at a party once.”} He had lost the habit of hiding his thoughts from Edward so of course Ed heard it.

Jasper was chagrined as Edward gave a low growl.

Faith smirked, “Just keeping her warm for ya big guy.” She hummed a few more bars, then leaned over and pecked Bel on the lips. She laughed, “Definitely cherry.”

This statement caused Bel to break into peals of laughter.

{Jasper, any idea what they are on about?}

{Seldom if ever.}

** The song the girls are humming is ‘I Kissed a Girl’ by Katy Perry.
