A place in which to feel at home? by (Moderator)jrabbit

Author’s note: A quick drabble on perhaps one of the more unlikely immortals that Buffy could meet: older yet younger, with concealed wisdom. Very well concealed wisdom...

“Hello. I’m Ralph.” The little boy pulled himself up onto the swing next to Buffy. “What’s your name?”

She looked down at the eager face of the podgy child next to her. “Hello Ralph, I’m Buffy.”

“Why are you crying? My daddy says big boys and girls don’t cry.”

“We cry sometimes, when we’re really sad,” she answered.

“Why are you sad?” Ralph asked.

The innocence of the child’s questions somehow made it easier for Buffy to answer. “I'm sad because I’m never going to grow old.”

“But nobody in Springfield gets older. Next week is my twentieth eighth birthday!”

Disclaimer: Young Master Wiggum belongs to Matt Groening and young Miss Summers to Joss Whedon. It will be interesting to see who he ends up dating!
