Hide and Seek

Dawn wasn’t sure what she was doing. She could distinctly remember being shocked when John kissed her, but now she was pretty sure she was kissing him right back, if her hands running through his hair and legs wrapped around his waist along with the lack of oxygen, were anything to go by.

‘Well, might as well go with it’ were her thoughts.

It was only as she realised where they were, that she pulled away, a Ancient weapons cache was probably not the best place to be doing this.

Her lips released John’s and after taking a moment, she opened her eyes, trying to remember when she had actually closed them.

“Well that was a nice surprise.” She whispered.

John looked in to her eyes and grinned, finally something was going right, love life aside; they had just found some really cool toys.

“Not that I’m not comfy and all, but can you let me down please?” She asked, grinning back.
John then realised the position they were in, Dawn’s legs wrapped around his waist with his hands wrapped tightly around them.

“Right, of course.”

Letting go of her, Dawn gracefully landed back on the floor and looked about the room.

“So these ships are of the good, huh?” Dawn asked curiously.

“You could say that, we haven’t had anything that could match the Wraith in a head-to-head battle until now, it was all sneak attacks
and getting away before they realised we were there.”

“Don’t diss the sneak attack, it’s saved my life more than once” She told him, “and averted apocalypses.” She added.

“I love the sneak attack as much as the next person, but you can’t win a war just with a few sabotages.”

“True” She conceded.

There was an awkward silence; Dawn was pretty sure small talk wasn’t going to cut it this time.

“Fuck it…. John I like you, and the thing with the kissing I would very much like to do it again.” She blurted out.

John stared at her wide eyed, he certainly wasn’t expecting that.

Dawn almost whimpered. She realised she really sounded like Anya then, and that was rarely a good thing.

“Okay, let’s try that again, there is something between us,” She closed the distance between them. “Why else would you have kissed me. “ She smiled smugly.

John didn’t answer her, and Dawn started to fidget, thinking she had messed up. At last, in reply, and not saying a word, was bring his hands up to her face and leaned in.

The kiss was just as good as the last one, but it wasn’t a blur this time, it was slow and determined.

He broke away from her, bringing his hands down, and leant so their foreheads touched. “Does that answer your question?”

Dawn nodded and grabbed his hand. “I guess we should go back, and you know, tell someone that we have found our salvation. It’s normally a thing that you tell people.” She pointed out.

Faith sighed and slouched in to her chair.

“This sucks.” She growled.

Daniel looked up at the Slayer, he too was beginning to worry about them. He had tried to radio them, but all he got was interference.

“I think it’s time to get a search and rescue team together.” He agreed.

“For who?”

Both Daniel and Faith froze at the question and turned to look at the asker. They were greeted by a smiling Dawn looking very confused.

“Dawn! Where the hell have you been?” Faith shouted. “Going to investigate a strange planet and not staying in contact is not a good idea!”

Daniel just closed his eyes and took a deep breath, the two women reminded him of female versions of himself and Jack.

“Well, at least you’re alright. Where’s Col. Sheppard?” He asked calmly.

“Oh, he’s back there keeping an eye on things….

“What things” asked Faith, with a little edge to her voice “ and where the hell is back there?”

“oh, you know… he’s guarding the big Ancient ships we found.”

Even Daniel couldn’t keep calm with that off hand comment.

“Excuse me?” He burst out.

“See, she is so annoyingly calm about things, it drives you crazy” Faith remarked with a role of her eyes.

Dawn just giggled. She knew exactly what she was doing and just wanted to see how Daniel would react to her little comment.

“Trust me, it’s something you have to see to believe. I’ve seen it and I’m still having trouble”

Before the Daniel and Faith could reply, Dawn was gone again. It was only a moment before both of them were hot on her heels.

“That was my reaction.” Dawn told Daniel as she bounced on her heels.

Daniel ignored her as he looked around the enormous chamber. He had heard of the Aurora Class Ships and what a great weapon it
would have been against the Wraith, and here he stood looking at a whole lot of them.

“We have to get some soldiers down here before we do anything, who knows what might be lurking in all the nooks and crannies.” John decided.

Faith grinned at him. “Soldier Boy, I think me and Dawn are more than capable of scouting the area and making sure all your little boys with their brand new toys will be safe, or should that be REALLY old toys…. Huh.. Come on Brat; let’s see what the Ancients have to offer. You guys stay here and we’ll radio you when the place is safe.”

Dawn offered them a mock salute and followed Faith further into the cavern.

“Hell to this.” John murmured.

Daniel could only watch as John followed the two girls in to the cavern.

“Just like the good old days.” Daniel laughed as he headed in the same direction as the trio.
