Chapter One

“They’re probably halfway to Eltar by now, huh?” Justin Stewert, formally the Blue Turbo Ranger said to his companion, Joey Peterson, who gave Justin a sideways smile.

“They probably haven’t even made it out of orbit, squirt,” the former Red Turbo Ranger said. “That’ll take a little longer than an hour or two.”

“Guess you’re right,” Justin agreed. “Hey, do you regret it?”

“Saying I’ll stay behind?” Joey asked as they entered the Juice Bar. “Nah. Someone needs to mind the store.”

“Yeah, guess so,” Justin laughed.

“Oh hey guys!” Ernie, the owner of the bar said, waving them over. “Uh Joey, there’s someone waiting for you around back.”

“Around back?” Joey asked, confused. Ernie nodded.

“Yeah, she…needed some space,” Joey’s stomach dropped. She? He thought, quickly moving to the back. It couldn’t be…

“Buffy,” he whispered as he entered Ernie’s back room. The other blonde lifted her head and Joey could see the pain in her eyes.

“Joey, I’m sorry, but…I need some help.”

Without second thought, Joey embraced Buffy like a mother bear. Maybe Joey should have gotten the Bear spirit instead of Laura, Justin thought.

"What happened," Joey asked. Buffy paused a moment before speaking.

“There was a gang attack,” she started slowly. “My friends tried to hide in the school, but they followed them in. One of them…one of them was killed, and the police suspect me.”

“Why?” Justin asked. Buffy looked at him in surprise as if noticing him for the first time before answering at Joey nod.

“My school principal found them and, well…he hates me. And he’s a troll,”

"Sounds like a real winner of a guy,” Joey said. “Come on. I’ll take you to my house, we’ll call your mom.”

“I’m…not sure if that’s a good idea,” Buffy said. “Mom…after everything that happened after dad dragged me to LA, burning down the gym…”

“You did what?” Justin asked. Joey signaled him a ‘please be quiet’.

“She thinks you were involved?” He asked. Buffy nodded, causing Joey to close his eyes. “Well, we’ll call her anyway. You’re friends have probably told the cops what really happened by now. We’ll get Mrs Summers to let you stay here a while and you can head back to Sunnydale for school. Sound good?”

“Um, actually, there won’t be any school,” Buffy said. “Remember Principal Troll? He expelled me.”

“…Yeah, you had a fantastic time, huh?” Joey asked with a small smile. “Alright, we’ll call your mom, let her deal with this troll guy,” he took another look at Buffy. “Right after you have one of Earnie’s smoothie and burger combos. My treat.”

“But…”

“No buts. Scoot, I’ll meet you out there, okay,” Buffy gave a small smile, kissing his cheek.

“Thanks, Joey. And…”

“Don’t say it, you have notyhing to be sorry for,” he cut her off. She smiled again as she moved out. Joey sighed, running his hand through his hair. “Damn…”

“Hey, Joey, who is she?” Justin asked.

“Her name’s Buffy and…well, she’s my Best friend
