Willow sat cross-legged in the big room, the anxiety that was gnawing at her insides was as persistent as ever as she grabbed the Scythe, she glanced up at Kennedy. The potential nodded at her and mumbled something, Willow had a gist of what the girl was saying and hoped that some higher power was listening to both their pleas.
She looked down at the ancient weapon and started the spell, as she got further and further into it a hot, deep feeling rose it’s way up from the tips of her clenched toes, through her aching legs and up her worried knot in her stomach until it reached the very roots of her hair.
“Oh, my Goddess,” the magical walls that the Devon coven had helped her build up over the months were demolished in an instant as the intensity and power flooded through her entire being. She could see them, all of them…every person who could be a Slayer was. Those who felt alone weren’t.
She could fee all of it, all the power awakening- ready to fight every evil that could be fought…
It was so warm and…
Everything looked so bright…everything…
Where did the room go?
Willow looked around, still filled with the warm, fierce power that she’d evoked; everything was shimmer-y and glow-y, she smiled to herself.
“You’re doing a great job,” said a voice suddenly.
Willow turned, still smiling as her eyes fell on a brown-haired man, “It feels great.” She smiled goofily at him, overwhelmed by happiness and peace.
“It’s about to get better,” the man said, his blue eyes sparkled at her. “But you know it won’t last.”
The former redhead frowned half-heartedly, “Spoil sport.” She found that she was now standing in front of the man, her grin widened as she looked at him; he looked like the sun was shining on him from behind. “You’re pretty.”
Daniel blinked and coughed nervously, “Uh…thanks? I’m Daniel, by the way.” Then he paused, after a few seconds he shook his head and pulled himself out of his thoughts. He turned away from her and smiled.
She didn’t know how, didn’t care, that she had no idea how she knew he was smiling with his back to her, but she felt that she had to listen to him.
“You’ve changed the world, y’know. Things…they’ll never be the same after this,” he turned to face her, hands in his pockets. “Right now, every Slayer is being asked if they’re ready…but nobody’s asking you and I don’t know about the Powers but I think that question’s pretty important. Are you ready?”
Willow cocked her head slightly, still smiling slightly, “What do you think?”
Daniel smiled at her, his bright eyes probing hers, piercing right into her soul, “I think you are.”
Willow smile widened into a grin as she felt something lighten inside her, the darkness that had been growing within since she’d brought Buffy back was now wrapped in a fog of ancient, pure, magic, “I think so, too.”
Daniel nodded, “Good.”
Her breath caught in her throat as she felt the warmth intensify until she couldn’t take a breath, but she didn’t care; the sea of power was washing over her, lessening her burden of darkness; washing away the taint that had been in her since she’d killed Warren; since she’d spilled the blood of that fawn a year ago.
The thing she’d wanted so much since her psychotic downward spiral, the thing she’d hope she’d eventually find; was finally being given to her, something that took her away from the evil that had been inside her…what she’d always wanted-
And a chance that they could win, permanently.
Daniel watched the girl disappeared and smiled to himself, he was so happy that Willow had accomplished what she had, after everything that had been thrown at her by her magic she'd overcome the evil inside her.
He'd known that she'd had it in her to do it, there had only been one thing that could have tipped the girl back into darkness, but he and Oma had made sure that the First could not have that advantage over Willow.
"I'm so proud of her."
Daniel turned and smiled at Tara, "She did do a pretty amazing thing."
"But if the First had used me against her?"
Daniel shook his head, "Oma and I helped you ascend for that exact reason, Tare; if it HAD used you against Willow-
Tara smiled, "But it didn't happen."
Or Oma, rather.
