Hotchner stared at the cold, dark cave entrance his group was about to enter. He almost wished he could go back to a time when he was just hunting human monsters. JJ and Prentiss had started out with the group, but they’d had to lead away a caravan of media, which ended up putting the group down to exactly the people Cordy had named. Now they prepared to enter the cave as soon as Grettis gave them the word.
“It gets easier with time,” Buffy said from beside him, startling Hotch slightly.
“How can it? It’s bad enough we’ve got people killing other people, and people finding the most evil, vile ways of hurting or killing other people, now we get to add in monsters.”
Buffy was quiet for a moment. She didn’t think he’d take the offer, but she’d offer anyways. “You know, if you want, we can remove your memories. You can go back to the way it was. Before you knew these things existed. Before you knew there were monsters who eat little boys.”
He looked down at her in shock, wondering at her cold choice of words, but what he saw made him wonder if she would have taken the offer if she’d had the chance. “There’s no going back now,” he told her softly.
Don Eppes did not believe for a minute that they were getting ready to raid a ‘sorcerer’ who had summoned a ‘demon’. Still… he hadn’t been able to explain several happenings since the BAU had arrived; the strength of the blonde, Buffy, or the fact that five women had appeared out of no where. That was a big unexplainable event.
It was dark outside now and as they began putting on their vests and gear, two men and a blue woman approached. That stopped them all in their tracks. Cordelia Chase jumped down from the back of his car, stepping towards the three. Don chose to move with her.
“You are so not in this vision, Broodmeister,” she told the tall brunette man fondly. Then she looked at the bleached blonde man and the blue woman. “Neither are you two.”
The blue woman’s head tilted to the side. “I would have care with my words if I were you, Seer. You are but one step up from the muck that flows around you.”
Cordy rolled her eyes over to the brunette man, who sighed. “Illyria, leave Cordy alone. What do you mean we’re not in this vision? We’ve got good info on this one. You might not work with us anymore, Cordy, but we still help the helpless.”
“And that’s a great thing, Angel, but I came all the way from Miami, where I had a date tonight, to make sure this is handled properly.” Cordy crossed her arms over her chest and took a step forward, making the brunette back up a step.
“You’re such a ponce,” the bleached blonde muttered. Cordy turned her gaze on him and he winced. “Sorry, cheerleader.”
“Spike!” Dawn squealed and ran up to be embraced by the blonde. Willow and Quin also approached.
“Look, we’ve got this covered. It would turn all sorts of bad if you three were to stick around and help, trust me! However, there is this thing going down on Wall Ave with a group of Myl’ax demons,” she told him.
Angel looked at the group carefully as he was next to hug Dawn. “Where’s Amita?”
Don’s heart almost stopped. This man knew Amita?
Charlie moved over quickly, his movements excitable. “You know Amita?”
Angel smiled at the young man. “I’m Angel. She comes and checks in with our office at Angel Investigations, since she’s the senior slayer in the area. She’s a sweet girl. You must be Charlie? She talks about you all of the time.”
“The chit’s on about you constantly,” Spike said, rolling his own eyes.
Charlie was blushing.
“Yeah, great, young love, isn’t it something?” Cordy started pushing at Angel. “Why don’t you guys take off now, okay? I’m not in the mood for yet another coma!”
“Holy Hells, Cordelia! You didn’t tell us you’d get hurt if Angel showed,” Dawn shrieked.
And like that Angel, Spike and Illyria were gone.
“Oh relax,” Cordy snapped. “He’s off on another crusade, it’s all good now.”
“Cordy,” Willow admonished.
Cordy sucked in air, suddenly dropping to her knees, her eyes going white. Don was right next to her and he wrapped an arm around her to steady her so she wouldn’t fall on her face. “It is time,” she spoke in a light voice. “He begins, his guardians surrounding him. You must destroy the Magician before the final words are spoken.” Again Cordy gasped, but now she looked up at Don from her own chocolate brown orbs.
Getting a crazy, newly souled vampire bathed and in clean clothes seems like it would be a difficult job, but it actually turned out to be very easy since Dru was working with them and not against them. While Xander and Gibbs worked on getting blood ready for Drusilla, Faith and Tony kept her occupied.
Dru, dressed in a plain white t-shirt and some drawstring lounge pants, her long dark hair pulled back behind her shoulders. She once again had Miss Edith in her arms and was giggling as Faith set up for a tea party. Davy and Ducky had also come down and Xander had given permission for them to also take part in the all important tea party.
Dru was rocking back and forth lightly where she sat. She was pouring the ‘tea’ into everyone’s cup, and stopped at Faith’s. She looked up at Faith from under her dark eyelashes, and gave a shy smile. “No tea for new mommies,” Dru said softly. “Caffeine is bad.”
Faith cracked a smile for the vampire, “That’s right, no caffeine for me.”
Dru leaned closer to Faith, her face becoming serious. “Thank you for not slaying me. I won’t be bad any more, I promise.”
Faith felt sorry for the insane vampire. Sure her job was to stake ‘em, but Dru, well, Dru had always been different. And now some sadistic bastard had given her a soul that she would have to learn to live with. “I know ya won’t, Dru. Ya wouldn’t be in here if I didn’t.”
Dru smiled again, shy once more. “Your babe will be beautiful, you know. The stars sing of it, the sun burns with it, and Miss Edith says that your babe will be beautiful and loved.”
Not able to help herself, Faith felt two tears fall from her eyes. “I’m glad to know that.”
“The Dark Hate will come, but he has no chance at overcoming you and your Champion. Miss Edith says your Champion will overcome the Dark Hate and there will be happilies.”
Xander had pulled a bag of blood from the refrigerator and poured it into a large mug. He put it into the microwave and set it to warm, and turned to look at Gibbs. “Crazy night, huh?”
“You could say that, Dark Kitten,” Gibbs replied, emphasizing the last two words.
“Yeah, that… there was this thing in high school…” Xander leaned back against the counter.
“Seem to be a lot of things back in high school,” Gibbs teased, and moved closer.
“And how many times were you married again?” Xander teased back.
Gibbs grimaced a little but took it in the nature it was meant.
Their lips met and their hands instantly moved to the other’s body. Xander’s hands went to Gibb’s waist tugging the older man closer to him. Gibbs had one hand on Xander’s face, curling around his head to hold him in place, while the other hand moved down the flesh of his chest and around to his bare back. Xander almost growled with the pleasure. His Hyena was purring, knowing she’d met her mate, but Xander ignored that part. It had been so long since he’d had some touch. He moved his hands down, under Gibbs’ shirt and to the waist of his pants. Then he moved one hand into the waist, running his hand along the firm flesh. For his age, Gibbs was in incredible shape. Xander couldn’t wait to find out exactly how good of shape he was in.
“Are you staying tonight?” Xander pulled away long enough to ask.
“Thought you’d never ask.”
A knock on the kitchen door startled them, and Gibbs moved backwards immediately. “Hey Boy-Toy,” Faith called. “Dru says you can continue your ‘relations’ with PaPa after you give her dinner and tuck her in for the night.” It wasn’t hard to hear the laughter in Faith’s voice.
The two men composed themselves and headed for the living room with Dru’s blood.
