That Movie Magic
That Movie Magic Disclaimer: I don’t own Buffy. That’s Joss Whedon.

Graham snickered as he listened to Riley’s drunken whining. It was the second anniversary of his divorce from Sam and Riley had really tied one on. That always brought out past regrets for him. It wasn’t funny for Riley, he knew. But it was plenty funny for him
Once upon a time, he’d been jealous of Riley’s thing with Buffy. She was beautiful, powerful, and quirky. Her friends, according to Riley, were the bee’s knees, too.
This was the first time Riley’d told him this story, though.
Riley had asked Buffy to see a movie that she’d been going to see with Willow and Xander. She’d invited him to come with them, instead. Riley had, expecting Xander and Willow to become sort of like background noise. Instead, he’d become the fifth wheel on his own date.
As soon as the lights went down, Riley knew he was screwed. Both girls automatically moved in to cuddle with Xander.
Xander, of all people, who still managed to eat his popcorn and Junior Mints with an arm wrapped around each girl. And Riley couldn’t help but notice how perfectly the two girls fit under the guy’s arms. The three had snickered through the whole movie, too. If it’d been a comedy, Riley would’ve been okay with that. But it was the creepiest horror flick of the season and for Riley, there wasn’t anything funny about it.
Riley’d never watched a movie with them again.
Graham cackled. He wasn’t jealous of Riley’s thing with Buffy now. He definitely wouldn’t have liked having to date three people just to get the one girl he wanted.
