Chapter One: Enter Xander Harris
Xander shifted nervously as he looked up at the huge mansion located up on the hill. He shifted his bookbag up on his shoulder and looked at all the teenagers running around. Carefully he pushed the gate open and slowly walked up the bath, waiting for something to jump out and attack him.
'Too much time on the hellmouth' he thought.
Several of the students stop to look at him as he walked up to the front doors but no one stopped him. He got to the front door and raised his hand to knock when the door opened and one of the most beautiful women he has ever seen stood there with a smile on her face. Beautiful white hair is down to her elbows and her icy blue eyes are friendly. Her hair actually complimented her soft tan complexion. She's dressed in a sky blue shirt, skin tight black jeans and boots.
"Hello there young man," she said smiling up at him.
Xander shivered slightly as he feels her power slide across his skin. She smelt of the ozone or the air after a bad storm. It was calming.
"Um...Hi," he said nervously. "I'm...Xander Harris. I uh...well I heard this place was a good place to uh hide out."
"Of course," she smiled. "My name is Ororo Monroe. Please come in."
Xander nodded and followed her in to the mansion. He nervously looked around at all the teenagers. He is greatly shocked at some of the things going on around him. Like this blond headed teenager making snowballs and throwing them at a red headed teen. Or a blue elf looking mutant who he would have mistaken for a demon at first glance. Ororo led him down a hall and in to a rather large office that was warm and inviting.
Xander raised a brow as he looked at the man behind the large desk. The man just smiled and nodded to one of the chairs in front of him. Ororo nudged him forward before silently closing the door. Xander sat down in the over stuffed chair and put his bag at his feet.
"Welcome Mr. Harris," the man smiled. "My name is Professor Charlse Xavier. I'm the owner of this school for mutants."
"Um...right," he nodded. "I'm...not exactly use to this whole mutant thing. I mean, my life was complicated enough before this and it's just even more confusing."
"Would you like to talk about it?" Xavier asked looking worried.
"Not really," Xander shrugged. "No offense, you seem like a nice guy and all but I don't know you."
"That is understandable," he replied. "If you wish to talk to someone my door is always open along with the other teachers. Even some of the students are easy to speak to. Now, I'll need to know where you use to live so I can get your medical records and school records."
"Um...actually I brought that stuff with me," he explained. "I have a friend who was able to help me get all I needed. I don't want anyone to find me."
"I understand, we have a lot of students here running away from bad places," he explained. "Can I have the folders?"
Xander opened his bag and pulled out a large folder held together with rubber bands and sets it on the desk before pulling out a smaller folder. Xavier eyed the largest folder a little worried and Xander shifted in the chair.
"So um....the larger one is my medical file," he mumbled.
"I was afraid you'd say that," Xavier said. "I'm guessing you're still in Highschool?"
"Yeah," he nodded. "I'm a junior but my grades aren't exactly in the tops."
"That is alright," he replied. "I'll get you set up in some classes that fit to what you're good at and will help you. I'm sure many of the students will help you if you only just ask." There was a knock at the door before it opened and a beautiful red head walked in. She smiled at Xander, the smile lit up her emerald green eyes. "This is Jean Grey. She's one of the professors here as well as one of our doctors."
"It's a pleasure to meet you ma'am," Xander nodded.
"The pleasure is mine," Jean smiled. "I'm going to show you to your room. You'll be sharing with another young man named Piotr Rasputin."
"Okay," he nodded.
Xavier watched him leave wondering just who the young man was. Jean walked beside the young male allowing him a chance to look at everything.
"So, what do you teach?" Xander asked tired of the silence.
"I teach mathmatics and politics," she replied with a grin. "I hope to see you in my classes."
"Ha ha," Xander grinned. "No way. I hate politics and I suck at Math."
"I'd be willing to tutor you if there is a problem," she said.
He shrugged and she leads him up a flight of stairs. Xander shifted the weight of his bag again as Jean knocked on a door that looked like every other door he's seen so far. Only on the white board on the door it said Piotr Rasputin in neat hand writing. Jean opened the door and Xander peaked in, nearly backing out at the sight of the large muscular teenager sitting at a desk. The teen looked up from his work and nodded to them with a confused look.
"Good afternoon Piotr," Jean smiled. "This is Xander. He's going to be your roommate alright? He just showed up about 30 minutes ago so if you could show him the ropes for a few days that would be helpful."
"Alright," he said.
"I'll see you at dinner Xander," she said before leaving.
Xander nodded and watched her go before he stepped in to the room to claim a bed. Piotr watched him for a moment before he returned to his homework. Xander dropped on to his bed, letting his bag fall to the floor. The last few weeks of traveling finally caught up with him and he ended up falling in to the first peaceful sleep he's had since all this mess started.
