Unexpectedly meeting someone for the first time in your underwear was embarrassing at best, but in reality mortifying. Add to that being covered in bite marks, especially a particularly vivid hickey right over the band of your boxers and a serious case of bed head and the embarrassment level goes up. Getting caught in the kitchen of your boyfriend’s apartment, with no sign of a sleepover guest on the couch, while making breakfast and singing badly only further added discomfort. But the worst part of that whole situation came when two members of Tony’s NCIS team broke into the apartment, guns drawn, and hostile.

“NCIS, hands up!” a man called out at the entrance to the kitchen.

Xander jerked, coffee mug sliding out of nerveless fingers. It crashed to the floor as he raised his hands, afraid to turn around.

“Turn around very slowly,” the voice instructed and Xander turned slowly to the right, giving himself a better chance to see whoever had broken into Tony’s apartment.

A man and a woman, wearing NCIS jackets, had their guns trained on him as he took them in. He tried not to flinch but he’d never been a fan of guns, not since watching his best friend get shot in the chest.

“Where is Tony?” the woman questioned, her looks and accent had Xander placing her of Middle Eastern descent.

“Bedroom,” Xander managed to get out.

“McGee,” the woman said and the man backed out of the kitchen and headed down the hall.

“Tony!” Xander called out as a warning. He was defenseless in the kitchen. And then the name McGee registered. That was a guy on Tony’s team. Xander took a better look at the woman, forcing his vision past the gun barrel.

“Ziva?” Xander asked.

“Who are you?” the woman chose to ask instead, not answering his question.

“Xander Harris, Ziva. Mind not pointing your gun at my boyfriend?” Tony spoke as he appeared in the kitchen with a blushing McGee behind him.

“Boyfriend?” Ziva spoke and eyed him up as she flicked the safety back on her gun and slid it into its holster.

“Yes,” Tony repeated and eyed Xander. “Put your hands down, Xan, and the eggs are burning,” he pointed out.

Embarrassed further Xander sheepishly lowered his hands and pulled the frying pan off the burner and turned it off with a quick flick of his wrist.

“Mind telling me why you two broke into my apartment and held up Xander?”

“Got a case,” McGee started out. “Your apartment phone was disconnected. And your cell phone had been turned off for the whole weekend. Abby got worried, said we needed to come out here and check on you.”

“I’m on vacation, Probie,” Tony reminded him.

“Your neighbor said she heard some strange noises last night. Two male voices loud throughout the night. We believed you to be in danger,” Ziva explained.

Xander flushed red at her words, knowing that the neighbors had heard them having sex.

“Well I’m touched you were worried about me, Ziva,” Tony said, stretching out Ziva’s name into two long condescending syllables. “But as you can see I’m fine. And for another forty-five minutes I’m still on personal leave,” Tony calmly finished, but Xander could hear the underlying anger. He wondered if McGee and Ziva could too.

“So what’s so important about this case that it required breaking and entering into your Boss’ apartment?” Tony asked. Xander turned back around now that he was done flushing. He took a quick look at Tony and noticed he was already sliding back into his work persona.
