“Jack?” Buffy frowned as she evaluated his appearance. “Something’s off about you, and I just realized what it is. Where’s your hat?”
He winced. “I, uh… I lost it. It went overboard when I found out that Jones was after me.”
“Oh, you’ve got to be kidding
me!” Buffy’s expression became one of incredulity. “You lost THE hat. The one I took off of Captain Kidd himself, and gave to you once I’d managed to get the protection spells right? You lost
“I was understandably upset at the moment…” He defended.
“You do realize that if you’d kept the hat, he wouldn’t have been able to touch you, right? Even if you wound up in the locker, you’d be able to escape.”
That brought him up short. “Ah… No, I didn’t realize that… Sorry?”
Buffy shook her head. “Great. It’ll take me months to make another one. By then, Jones will have eaten us alive.”
Jack’s shoulders slumped. “I really
am sorry, Luv.”
She sighed, and shook her head. “It’s fine, Jack. Besides, I’ve learned quite a bit since I made that hat. I can probably improve on the spell design. How long until we arrive?”
At that moment, Gibbs opened the door to the Captain’s quarters. “Sir, Ma’am, we’re ready. The rest of the journey will have to be made in dinghies.”
Buffy nodded, and stood, heading out to the boats, Jack on her heels. Before long, they’d arrived in the cabin of Tia Dalma.
“Jessica!” The witch’s Caribbean accent rang out. “I never t’ought ta see ya again!”
Buffy embraced the other woman. “Hey, Cali! How are you these days?”
“I am well, t’ank ya fer askin’. What is it ya need?”
Jack cleared his throat. “It seems that my marker is up.”
Tia shook her head. “Jack, I told ya, all dem years ago, ya shouldn’ta made dat deal.”
Buffy looked at her imploringly. “Please, Cali. We really need your help here.”
The witch looked the immortal in the eye, and finally nodded. “Very well. I’ll do what I can.” She and Buffy sat down, and began speaking in a language none of the others recognized.
“What are they talking about?” Will asked, clearly confused.
“They’re discussing terms.” Jack responded, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
“You understand them?” Will asked.
“Hardly. They do this every time they get together. And if you pay attention, you’ll notice that they switch languages every few sentences.”
Nodding slowly, Will focused on the conversation before him. Indeed, the structure of the words changed every so often. However, as the saying went, it was all Greek to him. ‘… Wait, was that bit Greek?
As the conversation drew to a close, both women stood, smiling at one another.
“I think we have an agreement?” Buffy asked.
“We do. ‘Tis a pleasure doin’ business wit ya, Jessie.”
They shook hands, and Buffy returned to the others.
“Well? Did you get anything done?” Jack asked.
“Several things, not the least of which is a plan to get Cutler off our backs.”
Jack looked impressed. “Really? What did you do?”
She smiled smugly. “I’ll let you wonder. Now, I’ve learned a little more about Davey Jones. His heart isn’t in his body. It’s in a chest.”
“Aren’t all hearts in a chest?” Jack wondered aloud.
chest, Jack.” Buffy corrected. “Tia doesn’t know where it is, but said that if we can find it, and retrieve the key to the chest, we’ll have control over him.”
Jack produced a small piece of cloth. An image of the key was on it. “This is what the key looks like. Only problem is, Jones has it. It’ll be almost impossible to get it from him.”
Buffy frowned slightly. “Okay… We need to get back to the Pearl. Jack, give me the compass.”
Confused, he handed it over. Buffy led them back to the boats, and they rowed back to the ship.
Buffy stared down at the compass, a look of intense concentration on her face. After a long moment, it swung around to point due east. She snapped to attention. “Gibbs! Take us east!”
Gibbs shot Jack a questioning look.
Jack glared in return. “You heard her! Hop to!”
“Uh, aye captain.” Frowning, Gibbs began barking orders to the crew.
Buffy grabbed Jack’s hand. “Jack. I need to tell you a few things. Privately. Come with me.” She dragged him into his quarters.
“What’s going on, Gibbs?” Will demanded. “Who is she? And none of that ‘mystery’ nonsense, either. I’ve never seen Jack listen to anyone but himself.”
Gibbs could only shrug. “I don’t know, Will. All I know is, it’s best not to cross her. You may win the battle, but she’ll destroy you in the war.”
Jack sat in silent contemplation. Buffy had told him what she intended to do.
“Jack? Please, say something.”
“Are you sure about this? That it’ll work?”
She smiled at him. “Jack, nothing’s for sure. But, this has the best chance of working. Can you just trust me on this?”
He sighed. “I can, Luv. You know what you’re doing. Always have.”
Buffy took his hand in hers. “Listen, Jack. I know that I hurt you when I left, and I’m sorry. I’ve missed you, so much, since then. If this doesn’t work, we might never see each other again. If I fail, I want you to run. Go to the New World. There’s a place, in the southeastern corner of the continent. A cave. If you tell them that The Daughter of Sineya sent you, they’ll let you in. Inside, there’s a fountain. I want you to drink from it three times. If you do, we’ll meet again. I promise.”
He nodded. “I will. You’ve got my word on it.”
Buffy nodded. “Thank you, Jack.” She pressed his hand to her forehead. “Jack…”
“What is it, Luv?”
“Could you… could you give me tonight? I haven’t been with you in so long, and this may be our last chance for a long while…”
Jack freed his hand, and brought her face up to look at his. “You only needed to ask.” He kissed her.
Buffy returned the kiss with a passion, wrapping her arms around him, and discreetly beginning to remove his clothing.
Jack did the same, first with her vest, then her shirt. Her boots went next, and then her leggings.
Buffy stripped Jack just as quickly. Their kiss never ended.
Jack led her over to his bed, laying her down gently. He finally pulled away. “Let’s take care of you, now…”
Outside, Will came to knock on the door. He heard voices, or one voice at least. It was Buffy. She sounded like she was trying to be quiet, but failing miserably.
“Yes… lick there… yes… that’s the spot…”
Will backed up slightly. Just… what were
“Yessss… goddess yes!”
Gibbs came by to see what the fuss was about. When he heard what was going on, he almost burst out laughing. “Come on, Will. Let’s leave them to their business.”
“But what are they doing?”
Gibbs shook his head. “Remind me to find you a decent wench before we get you back home…”
Buffy’s back arched up as she came. Her scream echoed through the small room, and she had no doubt that those outside could hear her as well. Not that she cared. She hadn’t had an orgasm that powerful in a century…
“Feeling good, Luv?” Jack smirked.
“Oh, yeah…” She looked down at him. “I think the foreplay is over with, unless you want to do that again?” She sent him an identical smirk.
He moved up her body until he was face-to-face with her. “‘Foreplay’ is something a woman invented to make sure she more out of this than the man. Not that I don’t enjoy it, of course.”
Buffy grinned. “Come on. Enough talk. I need you inside me… Now.”
The nearly violent tone she used to order him made his eyes widen. “Aye, Captain.”
He positioned himself at her entrance, slowly moving into her. She tightened her grip on him, pulling him in to her body. It was almost as if she were trying to fuse them into a single being.
Jack let out a hiss as he entered her. The walls of her sex gave almost no leeway, making him work for every bit of ground he gained. Not that he was complaining. He pulled out, slightly, and thrust inside again. Buffy gasped, and bit down onto his shoulder, relishing in the intense feelings she was receiving.
His member thrust into her again, and again, going ever so slightly farther with each movement. The pressure he felt was building quickly. He paused, letting it go down. She let out a mewl of disappointment.
“Just hold on, Luv. Gotta give me a moment here…”
She smirked up at him. “Not as young as you used to be?”
His eye twitched. Fuck waiting. The thrusting began again, in earnest. He pounded into her with all his strength, reaching down into her with his member.
Buffy gasped, nearly coming again at the sudden movement. She came on the third thrust, and again on the seventh. He was so deep… and was filling her so perfectly… When his hand found her clitoris, and pinched it, her eyes widened, and her mouth fell open in a near-endless orgasm.
When he just couldn’t hold it in anymore, Jack released inside her. The two of them collapsed onto the bed.
Buffy stroked the back of his head. “Thank you, Jack.” She didn’t say it, but she put every bit of love she had into that one sentence.
He nuzzled her neck softly. “Always, Luv. Always.”
Buffy looked out at the wreck they’d found. She nodded. “That’ll do nicely.” She turned to Jack. “You know what to do.”
He nodded. “Good luck.”
Buffy climbed into a boat, and was lowered into the water. She rowed over to the other ship.
There were only five men still alive. She hoped that was enough. She closed her eyes, using every other sense at her command to try and find something… There! Her eyes opened. “He’s here.”
Out of nowhere, more men appeared, though to call them men could be construed as an insult to the sex. Their faces and bodies were twisted, mutilated, to look like creatures of the sea. Buffy didn’t move when they advanced on her, swords drawn.
“Hey, boys. I’m looking for your boss.”
“Are ye now?” A voice from behind her asked.
She turned. “Captain Jones.”
He looked her over. “You are neither dead, nor dying. What is your purpose here?”
“I’m here in regards to Jack Sparrow.”
“Oh, really? What did he con you into?”
She smirked. “Jack couldn’t con me if he tried. I’m here with an offer. Ten years of my service, and he is released from his debt.”
Jones let out a cruel chuckle. “And why should I agree to that?”
Buffy released the hold she kept on her Quickening. Jones, and every member of his crew, felt it. Slowly, she drew the power back in. “You know what I am. You know what my service to you will bring. Ten years, and Jack is free.”
Jones looked at her, an expression of awe on his tentacled face. “Why would ye do this for him?”
She smiled softly. “I love him. I don’t need another reason. Now, do we have an accord?”
He nodded. “Agreed.”
“Thank you. Now, go remove the curse you laid on Jack.”
Jack sat on the deck of his ship. For the first time that any of his crew could remember, he looked depressed.
It was unnatural.
Gibbs sat next to his captain. “Jack. What’s wrong?”
“Gibbs! Leave it.”
The older man let out a sigh. “Aye, Captain.”
“Sparrow!” A voice called from the poop-deck.
Jack stood, and looked up. It was Jones. Jack walked slowly up to the other captain.
“Sparrow,” Jones growled. “I don’t know how you got a bloody immortal to offer herself in your place, and neither do I care.” He grabbed Jack’s right hand. “You are released from our agreement. You and your ship are free to leave.” He released Jack’s hand. “Use your remaining years wisely.” With that, he disappeared.
Jack broke into a wide grin. “Excellent! Mister Gibbs, head a course for Port Royal! It’s time we got Mister Turner back to his Lady Love!”
“But, Captain!” Gibbs protested. “What about Buffy?”
“What about her?” Jack asked.
“She’s with Jones!” Gibbs cried.
“Yes, she is.” Jack agreed. “Exactly where she’s supposed to be. Your point is?”
Gibbs’ jaw set. “No point, Captain. Port Royal. Aye.”
Jack nodded, and went back to his quarters.
Will was dumbfounded. What the hell was going on? He knew Jack was unpredictable at times, but to blow hot and cold like this was extreme, even for him.
Why was Jack abandoning Buffy?
Elizabeth Swann sighed in relief as she set foot on the dock at Tortuga. It’d taken forever to convince the crew of the ship she’d stowed away on to come here. She needed to find Jack, and retrieve the compass. That was only the beginning, of course, since Beckett would most likely try to cheat her out of it, but it was a good place to start. Now, where to begin her search?
Will sighed in relief when he walked into Port Royal. He didn’t know if Buffy’s plan to get Beckett to back off would work, but he certainly hoped so.
Will looked to his left. Beckett was storming up to him. “Yes, Lord Beckett?”
“What’s the meaning of this?!” He thrust a piece of parchment into Will’s hand. Will turned it over, reading it.Dear ‘Lord’ Beckett,
I’ll bet you never thought you’d hear from me again. Well, I warned you what would happen if you went after my loved ones, and you didn’t listen. The first level of the curse I placed on you will go into effect as soon as you touch this letter. There are ten levels in all. I won’t go into detail, but rest assured, each level is worse than the last. The curse will leave you completely alone as long as you don’t do anything, and I do mean
anything to the following people.
William Turner II
Leave them alone, Cutler, and I’ll leave you alone.
Will shrugged. “Seems fairly straight forward to me.”
“Get her to stop!” Beckett demanded.
“I can’t.” Will responded. “She’s been taken aboard the Flying Dutchman. She’s part of the crew now.”
Beckett turned an amazing shade of pale. Finally, he sighed. “Fine. You’re free to go, and as soon as we find Ms. Swann, she’ll be free as well. I won’t hunt Sparrow anymore, and the Governor will be released.” As soon as he’d spoken the words, a look of relief spread over his face. “Oh, that’s so much better…”
Will looked confused. “What’d she do to you?”
Beckett tensed. “None of your business, Turner!” He stalked away.
Will chuckled to himself, until something Beckett had said struck him. “Wait. ‘As soon as we find Ms. Swann’? She’s gone?”
Jack’s grin was still firmly in place as the Pearl sailed away from the small colony. “Alright, Mr. Gibbs. Time to enact the next phase of the plan!”
Gibbs looked confused. “What plan, Captain?”
“The plan to rescue Buffy, of course! What other plan could there be?”
Understanding dawned on Gibbs’ face. “You… You were never going to leave her there.”
Jack looked offended. “Of course not! Now…” He took out his compass, focusing on what he needed to save Buffy. It pointed toward…
“Mr. Gibbs! Set a course for Tortuga!”
