Phone Call to LA
Disclaimer: I don't not own Twilight or Buffy, I am writing this story for no money, and I just wished I owned Emmet.
Authors Note.. Well looks like my muse is in full stride. All I want to do at the moment is write this story. I hope that you are all enjoying it as much as I am.
I know that the time lines are a little wonky, but i needed the Angel storyline for later on in the story.
Thank you SO much for the reviews. I LOVE them. Seriously can't get enough of them.
Faith couldn’t believe it, only she could manage to befriend a Coven of vampires. If she was honest with herself, she was worried. She had even heard Jasper move when he tackled her, and he was half way across the room. And he was definitely stronger than any vamp she had taken before. She might be able to take one or two at once, but 7 including one that was at least as old as Angel would be a daunting task, one she was pretty sure would take her life. She just hoped Carlisle was trustworthy.
“Okay, I’m going to go home and speak with my Watcher, but I want Bella to come with me.”
“Not a chance.” Was Edward’s immediate response.
Faith laughed. “Eddie boy, I don’t trust you lot yet, and there no way in hell I'm leaving a 17 year old girl with a load of vampires. So you got a choice, you let me take her, and if you prove trustworthy Bella can do whatever she wants, or I grab her and run and then come back for you.” She said, keeping her voice steady. She really hoped they didn’t call her bluff.
“Edward, from what I know of Slayers, she will not harm Bella, she is only trying to protect her from a potentially serious threat. She has her best interests in mind.”
Edward was silent for a moment before he let go of Bella’s hand a walked towards Faith, he was right up in her face, but she didn’t flinch, she couldn’t, not now.
“You hurt her, and you will be the first human I’ve killed in a very long time.”
Faith stared at him, he was completely sincere.
She nodded. “She won’t come to any harm with me.”
They stared at each other for a few moments, making silent promises to each other.
Faith finally pulled her gaze away and looked to Emmet, one of the best friends she ever had, but she now knew he could kill her if he wanted to.
But there he was, with the same grin, looking like an over sized teddy bear. He stared back at her, his eyes still dancing with laughter, even after what happened here tonight.
“Bella, I’m gonna take you back to mine, my Watcher will want to ask you some questions about...” She trailed off and looked towards Edward.
She really hoped he wasn’t evil, Bella was besotted with him, and she knew it would break her heart if she had to kill him.
Bella nodded and gave Edward a reassuring touch on the shoulder as she passed him. She let Bella walk out first; she had one more thing to say.
“I know that some of you might be thinking about taking action against me, I know what you are, and I'm a potential threat. I’m just going to tell you that if you do, this little Californian blonde girl with a perky attitude will have something to say, she gets a bit annoyed when Slayers are killed. And believe me when I say she will kick your ass.”
Without another word she turned and walked out of the house, she was still kicking herself that she hadn't realized they were vamps, her demon radar was a talent of hers, yet she hadn't detected Emmet in Spanish that day, or when he hugged her, or even when she was in the house. Sure, they were pale, but this was Forks, you had more chance of getting a tan in the Antarctic.
Shaking the thoughts out of her head she walked over to her motorcycle where Bella was waiting, she looked nervous.
Faith grinned. “Never went for a bike ride?”
“No, my dad would kill me.”
“Time to take a chance then.” Faith said as she threw her helmet to Bella. It seemed Bella wasn’t have the best catch and Faith just manage to catch it as she dropped it.
“Don’t you need a helmet?” Bella asked as she secured the helmet on her head.
“Nah, if we crash I got more of a chance of surviving than you do, I'm gonna say that you need it more than I do.”
Bella’s eyes went wide.
“Don’t worry; I’ll go slowly for ya’.”
And she did, for Faith, anyway. But Bella was still slightly green when she got off the bike that was now parked on the garage of Faith’s house.
“Home sweet Home.” Faith announced. “C’mon, Ellie’s probably having a stroke now, thinking that the world’s ending. I wasn’t supposed to come home tonight, was gonna crash in the Cullen’s guest room.”
Bella smiled timidly and Faith couldn’t help but laugh a little. She was way too much like Red. She needed to be surer of herself. She was pretty and had landed Edward, who was no ordinary Joe.
As Faith predicted as soon as they entered the house her 40 something Watcher, Ellie was fussing and fretting like a mother hen.
“Faith, my goodness, why are you home? I thought you were coming back tomorrow? What happened? Are you hurt? Who’s this?”
“Geez El, breath. I’m fine. This is Bella, a friend from school. As for why I’m home... I kinda ran into a vamp problem, a kind of problem I haven’t had before.”
Ellie was silent for a moment. “Faith, we have discussed this, you were to keep your identity a secret.”
“I did!” Faith defended herself. “Bella already knew about vampires, just not my type.”
“What do you mean ‘type’?”
‘Well’ She thought. “Might as well get the first shocker out of the way.”
“To start with, the vampires are the Cullens.” She waited for the explosion.
“What!” Ellie cried. “That’s not possible, the big one and his girlfriend have been on this house, the wards would have gone off.”
“Ward?” Faith asked.
Ellie sighed. “I put them up the other day, I was getting a bit antsy dues to the lack of a demon population. They stop any demonic creature walking through those doors.”
“They are not Demons.” Bella’s small voice cut through.
“What do you know about them?” Ellie asked all business.
“I know that even though their skin is cold, they are some of the warmest people I have ever met. I know that Edward loves me and that the thought of killing another human makes him sick to the stomach. I know that even though Edward doesn’t believe it, they have souls. I know that I love every single one of them, and if you hurt them, I’ll hurt you.”
Bella’s voice had become harder; harder than she thought was possible for the mousy girl. She was passionate about the Cullen's , Faith would give her that.
Ellie nodded. Deciding not to push Bella any further, she looked to Faith.
Faith sighed. “Honestly I don’t know a lot. I cut my hand with a knife eating an apple and Jasper attacked. He was fast Ellie, I didn’t even see him coming, strong too.”
“That’s it?” Ellie asked, hoping for something that would narrow down the search.
“That’s it, and the fact that they don’t “feel” demonic, is that possible?”
Ellie looked thoughtful. “With most Slayers, it would have been easy. If they were the first of their kind to cross paths with her, she might brush it off. You however, I find it doubtful. Your sense is good, even for a Slayer. Did you feel anything after the incident with Jasper?”
Faith huffed in frustration. “That’s the thing. They still feel human to me, I don’t sense any threat at all.”
The three women were quiet for a while before Bella spoke up.
“There skin is like marble, nothing can break it. Their eyes vary depending on how hungry or angry they are. They glow in the sunlight. They are strong enough to be hit by a truck going 100mph and just put out a hand to stop the truck. They are faster than anything I have ever seen, they blur as they run. I'm telling you this because I truly believe that you won’t hurt them unless they endanger another human being, which they would never do.”
Faith nodded, silently thanking her for the information.
“Ring any bells?” Faith asked her Watcher.
Ellie’s mouth was hung slightly open. “Yes it does a very big bell.”
Faith didn’t like it when her Watcher became nervous; it normally meant that the thing she was fighting was puppy like.
“Faith these things you are fighting, they are not demonic, no one knows what happened to create them, but what we do know is that they are a perfect killing machine.”
Faith suddenly had a very bad feeling. “That bad, huh?”
Ellie looked at her with sympathy. “I am sorry Faith, but they can’t afford to live. With a Coven that size they could destroy this town and then this state.”
‘No, I won’t do it, I know they won’t kill.’
It seemed Bella shared her thoughts. “Are you not listening? Yes, a lot o their kind do feed off humans, but there are a few a few that only kill animals, they find the thought of taking a human life sickening.” Bella’s gaze fell on Faith. “You know deep down they wouldn’t hurt anyone, you became part of their family, just like me.”
Faith looked at Bella for a few moments, trying to think of someway she could be completely sure.
'Come on Faith, think. What did Carlisle tell you? Maybe the Volturi could be useful. They knew Carlisle...’
“Faith what are you on about?” Ellie asked her, confused.
“Carlisle met Angel as Angelus, maybe he would know something?” Faith almost pleaded to her Watcher.
“It’s worth a shot.”
“I’ll give you until tomorrow; if he can’t be reached we’ll call Buffy in and deal with the situation.” Ellie declared firmly.
Faith nodded in agreement. She just hoped that she could get in contact with the ensouled vampire in time.
It seemed it would be harder to get in contact than she thought. It seemed that Angel was rather busy with a new born son at the moment. God knows how that happened. He was brooding on his room with the kid and wasn’t taking calls from her.
“Hey Queen C” Faith greeted her for what seemed the 100th time today.
“I told you Faith, he isn’t coming out for anyone, and he’s gone all psycho protective because of this whole thing with Holtz and Darla.”
“I get that, I really do, but Angel might have some information that decides whether or not I have to kill my friends.”
She heard Cordelia huff on the other side of the phone.
“Fine, but when he bites my head off I get to kick your ass.”
Before she could reply Cordelia screamed Angel’s name fearfully.
Faith heard something come bombing down a flight of stairs, and then Angels voice.
“Cordy, what the matter? Is everyone ok?”
“Faith’s on the phone for you, she says it’s important.”
There was more bickering that she couldn’t hear, and then the phone seemed to change hands.
“Hi Faith, how are you? How’s your new life going?”
“Faith, I’m really not in the mood for this.”
“Fine. I’ll drop the pleasantries. What do you know about a vampire called Carlisle?”
There was silence on the other end of the phone.
“What have you gotten yourself into Faith. That name is linked to some pretty big players in the vampire community.”
Faith bit back a laugh. “You have a community?”
“Shut up, and tell me how much trouble you’re in?”
Faith sighed. “Cliff notes. I befriended the Coven he leads before I knew they were a Vampire Coven. I thought they were just a big family. Calling you because he says he’s gone straight, along with the rest of the coven. A coven which is full of a type of vampire I have never encountered before. Carlisle mentioned that he and Angelus have met before. I need the scoop.”
“Faith, these vampires are extremely dangerous. How the hell did you make friends with them?” Angel exclaimed.
“I met them at High School, three of them are in my year and another two just below. C’mon Angel, all I wanna know is whether I'm gonna have to take ‘em out.”
Angel was silent for a moment.
“From what I remember about my meeting with Carlisle, these types of vampires are a lot more scientific than us. When they change, the base code of their genetics alters, they become invincible and are super strong and fast.”
“What you saying Angel, there the future?”
“I don’t know, these vampires are rare, not a lot is known about them.”
“Fine. So is Carlisle straight?”
“What colour are their eyes?”
“Angel I’m not setting you up on a date.” Faith deadpanned.
“Just tell me.”
“The entire family have golden brown eyes. Now please tell why you are asking such a weird question.”
“They don’t drink human blood; their eyes would be blood red.”
“Okay, I'm gonna say right now that is just freaky.”
“Faith are we done? I need to get back to Connor.”
“Yeah, I got all I need, but can I say something Angel?”
“Never stopped you before.”
“Get over it.”
“Thanks Faith, so helpful.” He replied sarcastically.
“I do what I can. See ya Angel.”
Faith put the phone down and smiled. Looked like she would get to keep her new found friends after all.#
