It had been almost two days since Anthony DiNozzo had first met Dawn Summers in that bar, but he hadn’t been able to forget the girl. He knew he had her number but something felt different with this girl. He couldn’t bring himself to pick up the phone and call her. This was something that had never happened to Tony before. He had always been known as the ladies man who could have any girl that he wanted. At least that was the way he portrayed himself to those around him. Except the girls he usually surrounded himself had always been just flings. He had always been afraid of getting his heart broken ever since what had happened with Jeanne Benoit. He only had flings because he figured that way he would be able to protect his heart from any pain that he might face. Yet something was different about this girl. Tony eyed his phone again for the millionth time.
“Just call her DiNozzo,” Gibbs told him from where he sat at his desk.
Tony looked around the bull pen when he realized it was just him and Gibbs left there. He wondered if he had really been that obvious.
“What are you talking about Boss?” Tony asked trying to play it off.
“Just call her so I won’t have to deal with this for the entire day.”
Tony decided it wasn’t worth arguing with Gibbs over. He picked up the piece of paper from his desk that contained the girls number. He hesitated a moment but when he noticed Gibbs glaring at him from his desk Tony knew that calling Dawn was a lesser of two evils. Tony dialed the number and didn’t have to wait long for Dawn to answer.
“Dawn Summers,” Dawn said into the phone.
“Hey it’s Tony,” Tony said nervously, “Remember me from…”
“Of course,” Dawn replied cutting him off, “I’ve been waiting for you to call.”
“You have?” Tony asked with a grin as he turned his back to Gibbs.
“Yeah,” Dawn replied.
“Well I was wondering if you wanted to meet up for dinner or something,” Tony suggested.
“I would love too.”
Tony grinned happily. He was glad that Gibbs had given up that extra push to make his phone call to Dawn. If he hadn’t called he sure would be missing out.
