Clark Meet Buffy
Disclaimer: Smallville is the property of the WB and Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the property of the WB and Joss Whedon. I own nothing. It takes place after season 7 of Buffy and during season 5 of Smallville. Buffy has long since parted from her surviving friends and is searching for more answers on the first slayer.
Buffy stared out the window on the bus. Cornfields covered the ground for miles. Buffy wasn't used to this. She'd never really lived in the country. The closest she'd come was two days in the desert about a week ago. The difference was she'd be in Smallville for over a week.
Buffy groaned. She didn't know exactly why she was here. Something in her just knew this was the place to be if she wanted to connect to the first slayer.
The bus came to a stop. Buffy grabbed her bag and stepped into the aisle. A man who smelled like rotten cheese stepped out in front of her. Buffy crinkled up her nose in disgust.
As she made her way to the front of the bus, she glanced out a window. A young man was walking into a place called the Talon. He was tall, with dark hair and a farm boy look about him. He wore a red t-shirt and dark blue jean jacket with a faded pair of jeans and boots.
Buffy cocked her head to the side. This young man made a bell go off in her head. She suddenly knew he was important. She needed to speak to him as soon as possible. If she wanted to learn any thing about the first slayer, he was the one who would answer her questions.
Buffy just knew.
"S'cuse me," said a young woman with light brown hair and a tan jacket. Buffy jumped at the sound of her voice.
"Sorry," Buffy mumbled. She continued to walk down the aisle.
The young woman turned to look at what Buffy had been so interested in. She caught the back of the young man as he walked into the Talon.
"Are interested in Clark?" the woman asked surprised.
Buffy spun around. "If thats his name," she said gesturing to the door of the Talon, which Clark had just entered.
"I can't imagine why," the woman said.
Buffy shrugged. "You know him?" Buffy asked.
"Yeah, I'll introduce you, but trust me there really isn't anything to be interested in," the woman said.
"Oh, I don't know. There's always a little more than meets the eye with people if you ask me," Buffy smiled.
"If you say so," said the woman disbelieving. "I'm Lois." She held out her hand.
"Buffy," Buffy said taking her hand.
"And I would really like to get off this bus," a man behind them said.
"Oh would you can it," said Lois.
"Sorry," Buffy told him.
She exited the bus. Lois followed. She showed Buffy into the Talon. It turned out to be a coffee shop.
The man Lois called Clark stood at the counter. A young woman with black hair and petite features stood on the other side. Clark leaned down and gave her a short sweet kiss.
For some reason this made Buffy's stomach drop. She didn't have a clue why. She didn't know anything about Clark except his name.
The woman behind the counter smiled, crinkling her nose as she did. A ping of jealousy surged through her. She hadn't looked half as cute when she'd crinkled her nose on the bus. She knew it.
"Clark," Lois called. Clark spun around.
"Yes Lois?" he asked. He strode towards her.
"Meet Buffy," Lois said gesturing to the blond woman behind her. "She took an uncommon interest in our very on Clark Kent."
Clark rolled his eyes. "Nice to meet you Buffy," he said. He held his hand out her. Buffy took it. He had a strong grip.
"Nice to meet you Clark," Buffy said with a smile.
"Well I'd really love to join you two, but I've got places to be. See ya later Smallville," Lois said. She waved and then made her way out of the coffee shop.
"She seems...energetic," said Buffy. "With some attitude," she added.
"You have no idea," said Clark. "So why exactly did you take an interest in me?"
