“Damnit, I can’t see him. Fin, you read me?” Detective Olivia Benson yelled into her radio as she turned the corner. It had been one of those nights; the sort that start well but wind up falling apart when you least expect it. They’d managed to catch the latest pervert red handed, but on the way out they’d run right into a mugging. Munch was with the woman while Fin, Stabler, and herself were in pursuit. Unfortunately the guy was damn fast.

“Liv, he’s heading for the alley half-way down the block. It comes out back by the building; I’m going to circle around and cut him off.” Came Fin’s response.

“On it Fin. Elliot and I will go in after him.”

“Watch yourself, Liv.”

“You too.”

Benson slowed as she reached the alley and waited for her partner to catch up. The alley turned, according to Fin, and looped before heading back towards where they’d come from originally. “Slowing down on me, Elliot?”

“Not… as… young… as I used… to be.” Elliot panted, “He go in here?”

“That’s what Fin said. He’s at the other end.”

“Alright, let’s go.”

The two NYPD detectives entered the alley carefully. The mugger was clearly armed and dangerous, probably with a knife based on the condition the person he’d attacked had been in. They hadn’t, unfortunately, gotten a good look at him before he’d run, but with only one way out, they were pretty sure they had him.

“No fire escapes,” Stabler said, pointing at the sides of the alley.

“Yeah, we’ve got him. Fin, any sign on your end? We still can’t see him.” After a few moments of silence, Olivia tried again, “Fin, you there?”

“No response?” Elliot asked as they rounded the corner.

“Not yet. C’mon we—“

“Yeah, I’m here Olivia. Nothing on my end.” Olivia and Elliot rounded another corner and found themselves almost out of the alley.

“What happened to you,” Stabler asked Fin, who was looking a bit worse for wear and rather covered with dust.

“You seen this place, Stabler? It’s a mess.”

“So where the hell is this guy? We’re out of the alley. Did we miss him?”

“We looked; besides, unless he was hiding at the start there wasn’t anywhere in the for him to go, unless he went into one of the buildings.”

“Bus is here for the vic; paramedics say the it looks like the guy was on PCP or something. He really messed the girl up. We’ve got an APB out too. What’s the plan?”

Olivia and Elliot shared a look, “We’ll follow the bus. You two wanna start knocking on doors?”

Fin glanced at Munch and nodded, “Got it.”

Munch turned to Fin as the other two detectives left, “You get him?”

Fin grimaced and brushed more of the dust off himself, “Yeah, I got him.”
