tribute to a dead forum series by Darkicefox

This was a tribute written under my ff.net account name mikecerano in the inflight forums. I understand that it might not be a well written as others but I did want it posted in a spot where more people could see it. Maybe eventually the emiya clan will start up again, but more controlled next time.

Xander was preparing the bar before opening when he felt the wards tingle with a semi-familiar feeling as the door to the broom closet opened. The presence of myth tinged with the slightest edge of being filled the air as a figure clad in black armor stepped through. Though it was obvious that at least one of his limbs had since been replaced with prosthetic versions. The knight proceeded to sit at the bar and ordered a glass of water before giving his tale.

Later, after the night had left, he found two photographs on top of a drawing on the counter. The oldest and most worn photograph showed a small group of people standing near a cluster of graves with the same family name. The next photograph showed the black knight standing next to a group of people, several of them much younger forms of people in the other photograph. The drawing looked to have been created by a child as it showed an early 20s man surrounded by women.

Just after e put the drawing on the wall, Xander once again felt the wards tingle. This time, where the drawing and the photos once sat, was another photo with a note that said from Zelretch. Smiling as he looked at it, he pinned it next to the drawing showing a tombstone with a poem as it's inscription:

I am bound by an Oath

Guard the helpless, and protect the family

I have fought over countless battlefields

Hands stained with blood, and head full of horrors

Withstood countless pains that others might not

Yet I have no regrets for my life

My path ends today as a Black Knight
