“I take it the negotiations are over,” Charles Gunn remarked, glancing around the blood-stained boardroom. He stalked forward and leaned menacingly over Wolfram & Hart’s newest Washington branch recruit: “Or did you not give them a chance to begin, Miss Kelly?”

Dark eyes glared back defiantly from behind round glasses. “They started it,” she replied, “as you darn well expected. That’s why you picked me for this job, and issued me this, right?” Shouldering the enormous firearm, she turned and sauntered from the room – leaving Gunn wondering just where Wolfram & Hart had recruited freshly minted lawyer Melody “Mell” Kelly.
