Crossing: BtVS/Josie and the Pussycats
A/N: Originally, this was going to be another "To Boldly Go" fic, but there's already another Josie story on here. Ah well. Italicized words are actual lyrics from the movie/soundtrack. Also, I HIGHLY recommend that everyone go listen to "Backdoor Lover" by Du Jour after reading this. Because it's hysterical.
Buffy waited until Willow had bounced out of the room, gone to talk Giles into updating the computers in the library. Xander was off with Cordelia, doing god-knows-what-and-eew-bad-mental-place! So it was just her in the library… and Oz.
"So, I was going through some of my old stuff from Hemery, like cheerleading shirts and stuff," Buffy began.
Oz didn't even look up from his guitar.
"And I found an old CD, one of my favorites from Freshman year. By a band called Du Jour." If she hadn't been looking for it, every ounce of her Slayer-gifted concentration focused on him, she wouldn't have seen him flinch. "So, yeah, I popped it in and well, you know how some jokes go over your head when you're younger, right? Well I couldn't
believe what I was hearing. So I looked through the booklet and saw – you. Something you wanna 'splain there, Oz?"
The werewolf sat his guitar down with a sigh, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "I have a cousin," he said at last. "We look a lot alike."
"Uh-huh. That must have been… interesting, when his band was a mega-hit."
"You have no idea."
"Well, I just wanted to ask, I mean now that I know I won't have to bring it up again."
Oz gave her a look that spoke worlds of gratitiude.
"But first, I just gotta ask: Backdoor Lover? So, um, were they really?"
Oz frowned, pained. "I don't know. I don't want to know. I'm out," he headed for the door.
"Okay, bye.
Meet you there at the secret spot," Buffy called after him, a wicked grin on her face.
The werewolf paused at the doorway, then gave an all-over shiver, like a dog getting out of a bath.
Buffy watched him go, then hopped up to start her solo-training. "
Nobody rocks the mike like Du Jour, ride on your motorbike with Du Jour…"
