“What’s that you say, Skippy?” Jack asked.

The kangaroo waved its paws and twitched its nose. Jack frowned as he deciphered the marsupial’s body language. “Teal’c’s been captured? By Bastet?”

The kangaroo nodded.

“I guess we’d better go rescue him,” Jack said. “Come on, Carter, follow Skippy.”

Sam shouldered her P-90 and obeyed. “Sir,” she said, as the kangaroo led them towards Bastet’s ha’tak, “I’m still not sure Skippy is a viable replacement for Daniel. She can’t talk.”

“I know,” Jack agreed, “but you have to admit she’s better than the alternative. We could have been stuck with Jonas Quinn.”
