She was taking a moment.
Why did she always end up with the weird ones? Okay, so the whole firm got the weird ones, but the really eccentric ones always seemed to gravitate towards her. Was one normal case really that much to ask for?
“Okay, let’s try this again, miss Jenkins, why do you need a lawyer?” Ally was really trying to stay calm here, but the woman in front of her -dressed in dark pants and a white top- looking at her as if she were a particularly slow child, was not helping.
“Because, I am being sued for granting that woman’s wish, and turning her no good boyfriend into a worm. So I took a few liberties with what kind. A Sluggoth demon is just as good as one. It’s just a bit bigger than your average everyday worm you people find in your backyard.”
“So, you turned the boyfriend into a worm?” She was gonna kill Richard for this one. A woman with delusions of being a fairy godmother? Demons? Why the hell had he accepted this case? And why did he have to give it to her?
“Look, I’m sorry, but I don’t think I’m qualified to help you with this.” Maybe she should sic Tracy on the woman. She obviously needed professional help. Then again, so did most of the people that stepped foot in this building.
“But you’re the only one who can
help me! Normally I would go to Wolfram and Hart, but since my whole ‘helping the Slayer’- faze, I’m on shaky terms with the evil community. And of course the whole feud with Angel and his association with the Scoobies probably doesn’t help matters... Is this about money? Because I can provide you with the necessary amount required for your services. See?” At this point the brunette reached into her purse and grabbed a handful of cash to show Ally that she could in fact pay her. Oh, and she had that same kicked puppy-look that Elaine sometimes managed so well.
“Uh, no, this is not about mone-...”
“No, but it does change matters.” A voice interrupted. There he was Richard Fish, in a suit, and what he probably thought was a charming smile. “Hi, I’m Richard Fish. I’ll be taking over this case.”
“You heard the woman, Ally. She has the required amount to pay us! See?” He said, waving an arm in the general direction of the woman, who was still sitting across from Ally with an interested look on her face as she watched the two lawyers talk. At Ally’s glare though, Richard seemed to finally realize that she was probably envisioning something not so pleasant with him as the lead star, and muttered a “Bygones” before escorting the woman to his own office.
But at least she was rid of the female version of Richard.
A/N: Okay, so I should actually be writing Through the Dark. But this story popped into my head and demanded to be written!
So, I don't know if you're allowed to enter more than one response, but I thought I'd try it anyway.
Don't know if there is a cross with Ally somewhere around here, but I couldn't find one. And I happen to think that Anya and Richard, with their common love of money, would get along splendidly.
Reviews are always appreciated. =]
