Chapter Five
~@~I will stay forever here with you, my love
The softly spoken words you gave me
Even in death our love goes onFrom the shadows across the street, a figure watched as the two girls in the doorway collapsed into each other’s arms, crying. They were familiar to her; it was her memories of them that drew her to this house - before she came to her senses. It was difficult, though, pulling herself away from that door before it was too late. She knew that she had loved them with her entire being – when she was Joyce Summers.
Now, however, she was a homunculus. She was Lust.
As if to emphasize this point, to make it real to her and banish the thought of the two girls in the doorway, she let her fingers elongate and sharpen until they resembled carving knives. She gently raked the blades across the tree bark, watching the way they effortlessly sliced through the woody material.
Lust gave a cold smile and turned away. It was time to explore this world and see what it had to offer, for it was obviously a different world than the one she knew. It was imbued with a different kind of magic; she could feel it. Even so, it seemed as if it were changing, becoming more familiar to her by the second. Who knew? Maybe she would even find her brethren here.
Pride. Sloth. Greed. Envy. Wrath. Gluttony.
She smiled at the thought of them.
If they
weren't there and she was truly alone, perhaps she would find a way back to her world - or at least find someone who could take her there.
Resisting the urge to take one last look back at the girls in the doorway, she walked away, merging into the shadows and disappearing.
And I can’t love you anymore than I do~@~The EndWell, that’s it. Thanks for reading, and thanks Xeelia for the rec!
