Summary: What if Dawn didn’t use the Resurrection Spell to bring her mother back to life? What if she tried something else? And who says the Key can only be used by Glory? Song fic with a slightly different ending to ‘Forever’.
Disclaimer: BtVS belongs to Joss Whedon and ME. Fullmetal Alchemist belongs to Filmation. This fic follows the 2003 anime. The song is ‘Even in Death’ by Evanescence.
I wrote this ficlet to clear away some plot bunnies so I can focus on my other fics. It will basically be 4 to 5 short chapters, and I mean short. I probably could've posted them all at once, but I'm not done with the rest and I'm impatient that way. I’m not sure if it’s any good, but here it is regardless. Hope you like it!~@~Give me a reason to believe that you’re gone
I see your shadow so I know they are wrong
Dawn's ears were filled with words like, ‘She’s in a better place’, ‘It hurts now, but it will get better’, and her personal favorite, ‘God works in mysterious ways’.
Well, screw that. What was the point of knowing about magic if it couldn’t bring back someone you loved? Her mom was gone, and they all expected her to just accept that? And yet they did. To Dawn’s amazement, all the Scoobies said that bringing her mom back to life was a bad idea. No one would help her.
Except for Willow.
Willow was the only one who understood. She had directed Dawn to a book of Resurrection spells. This led her to the Magic Box for more information and supplies.
As Dawn scoured the Magic Box’s restricted books, she happened across a small, leather bound book. It seemed more like a journal than a book on magic. Because of that, it stood out to her. What was it doing here?
She had grabbed it on a whim, and it was a good thing she did.
Dawn had tried to do the Resurrection spell. She even went to see the way creepy Doc with Spike, but that turned out to be a big bust. Apparently mating season hadn’t occurred for the demons yet, so no Ghora egg.
Little did she know, that small book she had taken had an excellent back up plan.
She left Doc’s feeling dejected; that’s when she felt the weight of the little book in her pocket. As she thumbed through it, she saw pages and pages of handwritten notes. Through the cramped writing, she thought she could make out the name ‘Hohenheim’. Her heart stopped, however, when she saw the section entitled: Human Transmutation.
