Chapter 1: What's Past is Prologue.....
“The wards are down!” He heard a young voice scream. “They're breaking through!”
“Hold the line!” He called as a team of twenty Slayers rushed forward to help bolster the human barrier.
“This is a fruitless endeavor.” A low monotone voice said from next to him.
“Not really the time Illyria.” Xander Harris growled. “If they get past us, they'll reach the Deeper Well. That can't happen. Not now, not ever.”
“Do you believe in the afterlife Xander Harris?” Illyria asked him as they watched the demons tear through the line of Slayers.
“Not really the time!” Xander half yelled as he flicked the safety off his shotgun.
“There is always time.” Illyria said softly. “You've lived well Xander Harris. Though this world may fall, you shall live again.”
Xander aimed his gun and fired into the group of demons that made it past the line. “Are you going to do anything? Is there anything left of Fred or even Dawn in there? Doesn't the fact that the world is about to be overrun by awakened Old Ones even register with you?”
“I am well aware of who this current shell was Xander Harris. Be thankful that this shell's mind still holds some affection for you. It will be the only thing that saves you.” Illyria said as she began to glow green.
“What are you doing? Save that power for the enemy!” Xander said as he felt the hairs on his arm rise up.
“Too little too late Xander Harris. This world has fallen. It isn't the first, and it won't be the last.” Illyria said as she encompassed him in a cocoon of ethereal energy. The last thing he saw of his world was a flash of green.
Another World/ Another Place....
“AAAHHHHHH!” He screamed as he awakened.....
The Chevy Nova swerved as its driver regained control. “What the Hell?” She demanded.
Alejandro Lavelle Blake looked at his sister. “Rest stop a mile ahead. We can talk there.”
“I see the sign.” Anita frowned. “What was it? Nightmare?”
“Something like that.” Alejandro said as he rubbed his left eye. “What year is it anyways?”
“We're definitely stopping.” Anita said as she looked over at her brother. “Why are we doing this again?”
“One last visit to Grandma Florres before college. We can see if she's got any new tricks to teach us. Besides, we've got the whole summer paid for and Judith free.”
“There is that.” Anita said as she pulled the car into the well lit rest stop. She pulled her cross out from under her shirt and Alejandro did the same before they got out of the car.
You can never be too careful.
I've tried focusing on other things, but this is where my mind led me. Sorry guys.
