Chapter Two
Rayne Of Questions
O’Neill and Teal’c let Carter and Daniel meet with her niece while he and Teal’c conducted their own investigation. They went to the local police department where a Detective Stein seemed to be in a foul mood. What the two members of SG-1 didn’t know was that the Detective had been briefed already by the Mayor and he didn’t like it.
“What do you want?” Stein asked them.
“My name is Colonel Jack O’Neill and I’m here to investigate the deaths of Ira and Sheila Rosenberg.” He said. “I’d appreciate your cooperation.”
Stein didn’t reply but instead handed O’Neill a rather thick folder before walking away. O’Neill shook his head at the rude behavior and he and Teal’c left the police station. Teal’c looked over the manila folder as O’Neill drove towards Carter’s location.
“O’Neill, what is SAS?” Teal’c asked.
“British Special Forces, Teal’c.” O’Neill explained.
“According to this file, the five men that killed Major Carter’s sister and husband were former SAS.” Teal’c replied.
“Are you trying to tell me that Carter’s sister was killed by former special forces members?” He asked.
“Indeed.” Teal’c replied. “According to the official report, Willow Rosenberg’s fingerprints were found on the knife embedded in the skull of on of the men as well as the weapons that killed three others. The final individual was killed by what they describe as a dog.”
“Wait, Carter’s niece kills four highly trained former special forces soldiers and the fifth guy was killed by a dog.” O’Neill said. “We have to have a talk with that girl.”
In the library of Sunnydale High School, Samantha tried to console her niece and wondered why Principal Snyder insisted she stay in attendance despite the fact that her parents were just died. Willow seemed to be glaring at the librarian.
“So, you’re Willow’s aunt.” Xander said walking into the library.
“Yah, her mother and I never got along when we were little.” Samantha said. “That’s why I rarely visited.”
“I can understand.” Xander replied. “So, what does the Air Force need with an archaeologist anyway?”
“I examine any artifacts that are found at military bases around the world.” Daniel tried to explain. “Because a majority seem to be found by the Air Force, I’m under contract with the Air Force.”
O’Neill walked into the library and gestured for Samantha and Daniel. After informing Willow, Samantha and Daniel walked over to the Colonel who led them out of the library. They found an empty classroom where Teal’c was waiting for them.
“So, how’s Willow?” O’Neill asked.
“Better than could be expected.” Samantha replied.
“Did she inform you that she managed to kill four of her attackers before a dog managed to kill the fifth?” Teal’c asked.
O’Neill winced from the glare Samantha was giving him. He stared back at his friend wondering when he could teach his friend about tact.
“No, and I think you have the wrong girl.” Samantha said. “Willow was a lot like I was when I was her age. She gets really good grades and is probably the smartest student in this school.”
O’Neill handed his second-in-command the manila folder that he received at the police station. She took it from him and began to read the contents shaking her head as she flipped through it. Samantha handed the folder to Daniel and stared at O’Neill.
“The people that killed my sister and left my niece an orphan were British former SAS!” She exclaimed. “This says that Willow managed to kill four of them.”
Samantha sat down at one of the desks. Daniel was shaking his head as he read the contents of the folder.
“How could she be this skilled?” He asked.

Jenny was a bit concerned as to why Willow was glaring at Giles as if she was fighting with herself over whether or not to make the librarian her next meal. She put a hand on the young dhampir’s shoulder.
“Willow, you seem angry at Giles.” Jenny said.
“The men that killed my parents were sent after me by the Watcher’s Council.” She informed them which shocked the group.
“Giles, that’s not true right.” Buffy said to her Watcher. “You didn’t rat out my best friend to them, did you?”
“Of course not, I wouldn’t dared do that.” He said in his defense. “Did they tell you they were sent by the Council?”
“The last guy did before I drained him.” Willow replied nonchalantly.
Buffy’s jaw dropped. “You killed him?” She asked.
“One, he and his buddies just killed my parents and two, I was hungry.” Willow said shrugging her shoulders.
Xander shivered at the thought of his best friend speaking like that about her dhampir status. He looked over at Giles.
“So, you didn’t tell the other Watchers about her.” He said. “G-Man, why am I finding that hard to believe?”
“I believe him.” Willow said. “His aura would have told me that he was lying or not. I’m not going to be forgiving of him being a Watcher but I’m not going to make him into my next meal.”
“Well, thank you for that.” Giles said. “What are we going to do about your aunt? She may not take your dhampir status as well as we do.”
“Maybe she’ll let you stay here in Sunnydale.” Xander said hoping that would be the scenario.
The library doors began to open and Willow realized that her Aura Vision was still being used but she gasped when she saw the auras of her aunt and her friends. Her aunt and the black man wearing the hat that hid his forehead had a strange grayness in their auras. She could also see a second smaller aura within the black man and she got out of her chair.
“Willow, is something wrong?” Samantha asked.
Willow surprised the members of SG-1 by running faster than they had ever seen as she ran towards Teal’c, grabbed him by the throat, and lifting him off his feet. Teal’c grabbed at her arm attempting to make her break her grip but was amazed at the strength she displayed.
“Willow!” Samantha yelled at her niece partly in shock of what she was seeing but also out of concern for her friend. “Put him down!”
Willow tossed the much larger man to the ground but continued to glare at him.
“What in the hell are you?” She asked. “You are neither human nor demonic. What are you?”
“How can you tell Teal’c isn’t human?” Daniel asked wondering if he was really seeing vampire-like fangs in the girl’s mouth.
“It’s the same reason Giles’ bosses killed my parents.” She said. “I’m dhampir.”
Two thoughts ran through O’Neill’s head. The first thought was involving asking Daniel what in the world a dhampir was and the second involved him finding out who this librarian really worked for because he didn’t think the California Department of Education had wet work teams.
“Half human and half vampire, I’ve read about the myth.” Daniel said. “But that’s all it is, a myth.”
Teal’c’s expression wasn’t as comforting as he stared in fear at Willow. O’Neill noticed his friend’s expression. He knew his friend was a battle hardened warrior and to see him scared by a sixteen year old girl was not good.
“Teal’c, you okay?” He asked.
“I am not, O’Neill.” Teal’c replied. “My symbiote seems to be frightened of Willow Rosenberg.”
“So, that’s the second aura I’m seeing.” Willow said before turning to look at her aunt. “You’ve got a bit of gray in your aura too.”
“So, how did you become a dhampir?” Samantha asked.
“Asshole friend of Giles decided to have a little fun on Halloween night. He cast a spell on his costumes that he sold in his shop that made anyone who got costumes from him would end up becoming their costumes that night. I dressed up using items from his shop and became Rayne. She was a dhampir that in her reality fought against the Nazis in World War Two.” Willow explained. “I ended up with the entire dhampir package that Rayne had along with her weapons and memories.”
“Come on!” O’Neill exclaimed. “Vampires don’t exist.”
“I’ll take you on patrol tonight then.” Willow said. “You’ll get your proof.”
Willow walked out of the library without giving her aunt nor her friends the opportunity to reply.
(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)
They met up with Willow and her friends in the library. The first thing that Samantha noticed about her niece was the black and red leather and rather tight outfit that she was wearing. The second and third things that she noticed were the large blades attached to her niece’s forearms and the large strange pistols that she had holstered.
“Good, you’re here.” Willow said gesturing them over to the table where they saw several varied items on the surface of the table. “These are the more common tools when dealing with vampires.”
O’Neill noticed some things he remembered from several vampire movies. “So, where’s the garlic?” He asked.
“Stoker was talking out of his ass when he mentioned that in his little book.” Willow said. “Garlic doesn’t work on vampires.”
Teal’c picked up a crossbow and it seemed as though he had used one before. Willow picked up a pair of stakes.
“A stake or an arrow directly in the heart will kill a vampire. Decapitation works as well as setting them on fire. Sunlight, crosses, and holy water do burn them.” Willow said as she let Xander pour a little on her to show that it didn’t work on her. “Any questions?”
“What about guns?” O’Neill asked.
“The only guns that exist that can kill a vampire are mine and they only work for me.” Willow said drawing out the Carpathian Dragons. “They’re dhampir weapons and will feed on their host, namely me, if their reservoirs are empty. They convert blood into vampire killing rounds.”
Since no more questions were put forth, they went on patrol and soon found themselves in one of the many cemeteries in Sunnydale. Willow perched eerily on a tombstone and smiled at her aunt.
“Aunt Samantha, I’d like for you to meet Mister William Everson. He was the unfortunate victim of a ‘barbeque fork related accident’.” Willow said looking back towards the gravesite. “I do hope he decides to wake up soon.”
“Willow, this is ridiculous.” Samantha replied. “He’s dead. He’s not going to come back.”
Immediately, a hand came out of the ground followed by another hand. The members of SG-1 backed up as it was rather shocking for them. When William dragged himself out of the ground, Willow surprised him and held him in a chokehold.
“Okay, class is in session and I would like to thank Mister Everson for agreeing to assist me for tonight’s lesson.” Willow said calmly as the vampire tried in vain to escape her grip. “Now class, what burns a vampire?”
Teal’c held up a wooden cross he had been given and Buffy motioned for him to hold it on the vampire. The Jaffa jerked back when he heard the cry of pain when the cross came into contact with the fledgling’s skin.
“Good, a cross does burn a vampire.” Willow said still acting as though she was a teacher in a classroom. “What else burns a vampire?”
Daniel took the initiative and poured the bottle of holy water on the vampire. He was surprised as was the members of his team when the holy water acted like he was being burned by battery acid. The vampire screamed in pain and Willow simply smiled and continued the lesson.
“Aunt Samantha, how do you kill a vampire?” Willow asked.
Samantha held the stake in her right hand and walked over to the vampire. Willow let go of the vampire as her aunt ran the stake into its heart. Pulling the stake out without pausing, the Air Force major was amazed when the vampire broke apart into ashes. Willow looked over at her aunt.
“Now, do you believe in vampires now?” She asked.
“Yah, that was weirder than anything we normally deal with.” Samantha replied.
“Like aliens?” Xander asked. “What? When Willow said that Teal’c was neither human or a demon, it left only one thing left for him to be.”
“Good logic.” Daniel said while he knew that O’Neill was only trying to figure out how to explain this to explain this to General Hammond.
“Buffy, can you finish the patrol?” Willow asked her friend. “I need to make sure my aunt and her friends get back safely.”
“Sure, Willow.” Buffy said.
As they were walking away, Colonel O’Neill turned towards Willow.
“It wasn’t a dog that killed the fifth guy that attacked your house, was it?” He asked.
Willow shrugged her shoulders. “I got hungry.” She said.
(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)
It was a week later and Willow was now living at her aunt’s house in Colorado Springs. She didn’t really want to go but her aunt had explained it to her that it would be safer for her and her friends if Willow lived with her in Colorado. It helped her aunt’s case that she could get a hold of blood a lot easier than Willow could which was why a friend that her aunt worked with was visiting today. So far, only the members of her aunt’s team were aware of her dhampir status which may get a few odd looks from her mom’s friend.
“I hope she gets here soon.” Willow said admiring her reflection in her bedroom mirror. “I’m hungry.”
(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)
“Hi Janet, I’m glad you came by.” Samantha said to her friend who was holding a red Igloo cooler.
“Hi Sam, I have your blood.” Janet said walking into her friend’s house. “You said you were going to tell me why you had taken that one cooler home with you when you brought your niece here from California.”
“I will.” Samantha replied trying to figure out how the best way to explain this to her friend. “Willow! Janet’s here!”
A redheaded teenage girl came running towards them and smiled when she saw the cooler. She looked over at Janet.
“Hi, I’m Willow.” Willow said taking the cooler from Janet before looking over at her aunt. “So, how do you think we should do this?”
“Do what?” Janet asked looking at her friend and her friend’s niece strangely.
“Janet, I think you’re going to need to sit down.” Samantha said leading her friend into the living room.
When Janet sat down in the living room, she looked over at Willow wondering where the girl got the empty coffee mug from. The redheaded girl then opened one of the blood bags and poured out some of the contents into the mug. Shocking the medical doctor, the girl then began to drink from the mug like it was a morning cup of coffee.
“Samantha, why are you letting your niece drink blood?” She asked. “Don’t you know how unhealthy that is?”
“Janet, I don’t know how to tell you but my niece isn’t entirely human.” Samantha said trying to explain. “She’s dhampir, half human and half vampire.”
Willow smiled at Janet a very toothy grin and Janet was taken aback by the rather sharp looking almost fang like canines the teenager had. She turned her attention back to her friend who shrugged her shoulders.
“Ask O’Neill, Daniel, or Teal’c and they’ll tell you the exact same story.” Samantha said. “We’re working on getting her clearance because her dhampir physiology seems to have an effect on Goa’uld symbiotes. Teal’c sensed a great feeling of fear from his larval Goa’uld when he first met her.”
Her analytical mind began to process the information and a rather disturbing thought formed in the doctor’s mind.
“Sam, have you given any thought about what may happen if she comes into proximity of an adult Goa’uld?” Janet asked. “Wait a minute, you said you’re trying to get her cleared.”
Samantha nodded and a smirk formed on her face. The phone rang and she got up to answer it leaving her friend alone with the young dhampir.
“So, you really do need to drink blood to survive?” Janet asked the girl who nodded.
“I do. Though I could drink cow’s blood or pig’s blood, human blood doesn’t leave a bad taste in my mouth.” Willow said admitting a few slightly disturbing things. “Maybe it has something to do with Rayne but I prefer it.”
Samantha walked in grinning at her niece. “That was Jack and he wanted to inform me of a couple of things.” She said. “You’ve been given the proper clearance, Willow.”
“And the second?” Willow asked.
“The Tok’ra sent us a message.” Samantha said. “They’ll be there in a few hours.”
(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)
It only took an hour and a half to get to Cheyenne Mountain and another hour and a half getting through the various checkpoints that led to the lower levels that housed the SGC. Willow followed her aunt and Janet the entire way as they walked to what appeared to be a conference room.
“We were curious about something, Anise.” Daniel said as Willow walked into the room.
Anise was redheaded and wore a strange metallic uniform but her eyes widened as she turned her gaze onto Willow. The Tok’ra began to scream in terror and leapt out of her chair. She tried to press her back against the wall to try to put as much space between her and Willow. Her gaze never fell away from the dhampir. O’Neill was cracking up laughing uncontrollably.
“What in the hell is going on here?!” Hammond exclaimed.
Jack managed to regain some composure as Daniel answered.
“Sorry sir, we had a vague notion that something like this may occur given Teal’c first reaction to Willow.” Daniel said.
“Perhaps Doctor Frasier should take Miss Rosenberg to the infirmary so that Anise can recover.” General Hammond said.
Janet led Willow away and Major Carter sat down at the table as Anise slowly pried herself off the wall and sat back down.
“Anise wants to know what your niece is and why she is able to strike that much terror.” Freya said. “The Tok’ra are unaware of anything that can strike that much abject terror in a symbiote.”
“I experienced a great deal of fear from my larval symbiote as well.” Teal’c informed Anise and General Hammond.
“What is Major Carter’s niece?” General Hammond asked.
This was when Daniel went into his lecture mode. He got up and displayed images he obtained from several books.
“According to vampire legends, a dhampir is a human/vampire hybrid. They are said to possess several unique powers and like vampires, they feed on blood.” Daniel said only to get interrupted by General Hammond.
“Are you trying to tell me that this girl is a vampire?” Hammond asked in disbelief.
“Half vampire actually.” Samantha said answering the general’s question. “I didn’t believe it at first until I witnessed some of the things that she can do.”
“She’s a lot stronger than Teal’c is and a hell of a lot faster.” O’Neill said. “Willow is also able to detect symbiotes from a distance greater than Carter or Teal’c can.”
“Willow was turned into a dhampir because of a chaos spell cast by an Ethan Rayne. Along with her newly dhampir status, her weapons remained real after the spell ended as well. She had a pair of swords that attached to her forearms as well as her rather versatile side arms, the Carpathian Dragons.” Daniel said continuing his explanation. “The Dragons are dhampir guns that feed off of their dhampir hosts, which is Willow in this case. Once their reservoirs are empty, they will draw directly from their dhampir hosts. The blood is converted into vampire-lethal rounds that are extraordinarily effective. I’m scared to think what some of the rounds would do to a living person.”
O’Neill raised an eyebrow. “Blood bomb?” He asked to receive a nod from Daniel.
“I don’t understand.” Freya said. “What do you mean by blood bomb?”
“The Dragons are capable of multiple firing modes such as blood shot, blood stream, blood spray, and blood bomb.” Samantha answered. “Blood shot acts like a standard pistol. Blood stream makes the Dragons act like sub-machine guns. Blood spray makes it act like a shotgun. Blood bomb is rather sickening as it turns the person’s blood into a powerful explosive and causing the person to explode violently.”
“I wonder how a Goa’uld would react to Willow’s presence or if she can figure out how to extend the range of it.” Daniel said.
(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)
Samantha walked into the infirmary and grinned when she saw Willow drinking a bag of blood like it was a Capri-Sun. The rest of the medical staff seemed to be a little spooked by Willow and what she was drinking. Janet was going over the test results of the medical exams she had conducted on the young dhampir. Willow waved over to her.
“Hey, Sam.” Willow said. “How did Snake Lady take it?”
“She went back to the Tok’ra. Didn’t hear a peep out of her till before she left.” Samantha said. The thought that the most annoying and aggravating of the Tok’ra may never return to antagonize her was rather exhilarating to say the least. “How are you doing?”
“Physically, Willow’s body seems to be very much human despite some very unique differences. From the scans I performed, her eyes can process a great deal more information and her muscles seemed to be a great deal denser allowing her to be stronger than she actually appears to be.” Janet informed Samantha while Willow stared at the doctor.
“I’m doing fine, Sam.” Willow said with a laugh.
Alarms began to ring out signaling an incoming wormhole. The next thing they heard was extremely alarming.
“Warning, iris will not engage!” A technician exclaimed over the intercom.
“Combat teams to the gate---” They heard General Hammond before he got cut off.
To the surprise of many of the medical staff members in the infirmary, a trio of Jaffa stormed into the room. Willow leapt from the seat she was in noticing the fear effect she had on them and attacked them. She wrapped her legs around the largest of the trio and jerked swiftly shattering his neck with the movement. Willow grabbed the staff weapon the Jaffa held, aimed, and fired it at the Jaffa that was standing next to him. The blast caught the Jaffa in the chin, killing him instantly. Willow jerked her newly acquired staff weapon around tripping the alien soldier with the movement. Getting back to her feet, she shot the Jaffa in the chest. Janet looked over at her friend.
“I can now believe she’s stronger than Teal’c.” Janet said.
“Aunt Sam, my things are in your lab right?” Willow asked her aunt who nodded.
Suddenly, it seemed as though Willow had teleported away and teleported back to the infirmary. She was armed with rather strange swords attached to her forearms and held a pair of large strange pistols. Willow looked over at her aunt.
“I know you don’t want me to help but if I don’t, a lot of good people could die.” Willow said before storming away from the infirmary.
Janet shook her head. “She’s definitely your niece.” She said.
(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)
O’Neill looked over at Teal’c to make certain his friend wasn’t hurt but he saw that his friend was also a good detector for something else besides Goa’uld. Teal’c was starting to look clammy and not very calm which was highly unusual for him.
“Willow is fighting as well.” Teal’c said informing his comrade of what he was feeling. “I am trying to get use to this feeling.”
“So, you think she’s okay?” O’Neill asked curious.
Teal’c didn’t need to reply as a severed head was seen rolling down the corridor. The marines that O’Neill and Teal’c had been assisting raised their weapons, partly in defense but mostly in fear, in the direction the head came from. Shock could be seen on the faces of the marines when they saw the redheaded teenage girl walk down the corridor towards them.
“Stand down!” O’Neill shouted. “She’s a friendly.”
The marines lowered their weapons as O’Neill and Teal’c walked over to her. She looked up to them.
“I’ve taken out fourteen Jaffa and I’m attempting to undermine their morale by seeing if I can spread out my Anti-Symbiote vibes.” Willow told them.
“It is working, Willow.” Teal’c said.
“Good, I have a location on the Goa’uld that is leading the attack.” Willow said. “He’s being guarded by about ten Jaffa. I’m planning on taking them out.”
“You are injured, Willow.” Teal’c said seeing the small burn mark on her arm.
“Just a slight graze from one of those staff weapons.” She replied. “I’ll be fine when I get a little more O Positive in me. Vampiric regeneration is really cool.”
“Could you leave us the Goa’uld in charge?” O’Neill asked. “We’ll need to interrogate it.”
“Sure.” Willow said before disappearing down the hall.
O’Neill shook his head. “I am going to hate the paperwork for this.”
(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)(-)
If there was one thing that Hammond knew that he hated, it was the fact that he was now the prisoner of a Goa’uld. The Goa’uld in question had an Asian man as a host and he displayed the typical arrogance associated with them as well.
“You will tell me what I want to know.” The Goa’uld demanded.
“I will not.” Hammond said to him spitting out a small drop of blood.
The hand device the Goa’uld had began to glow. “You will tell me.” He said repeating himself.
“He will not.”
Hammond looked over in time to see one of the ten Jaffa that made up this Goa’uld’s personal guard get butchered from behind by what looked like a long sword. He saw Willow as she charged at an inhuman speed as she attacked the remaining Jaffa. The Jaffa tried in vain to attack by firing their staff weapons at her but the teenager was dodging faster than they could fire at her. Hammond knew a bloodbath when he saw one but never had he thought that he would see one like this. The girl never fired a weapon at her foes as she sliced through bodies, through limbs, and as she sliced through their necks decapitating the Jaffa.
The Goa’uld fell to the ground in sheer terror. He didn’t understand why he was suddenly frightened but this Tau’ri female may have been the reason. Trying to will his hand device to erect a shield to protect him, one of the bladed weapons that the female Tau’ri was using was run through the hand device. He screamed in pain and looked up at her to see the muzzle of a large pistol pointed in his face.
“Stay down.” She told him.
“Willow, stand down.” Hammond said getting back up to his feet.
The general was disturbed by the amount of blood and gore he saw in the room he had been held hostage in. Willow complied with his orders by removing the blade she had embedded in the alien’s device. She still kept her gun trained on him. The Goa’uld gaze switched between Willow and the general. When he looked at Willow, he experienced fear. When he looked at Hammond, he was awed by the human.
“You command that creature?” He asked Hammond clearly indicating Willow.
Hammond nodded. “I do.” He said. “Now, you’ll tell me what I want to know otherwise; I’ll let her have some time with you.”
Author’s End Notes: Well, I hope all of you enjoyed this chapter. In Chapter Three, Willow gets her chance at revenge as she and the rest of SG-1 go to Jolly Ol’ England. I’m going to give a question to the people reading this because this brings up the opportunity to add in another British-based vampire hunting organization if everyone knows what I mean? Should I or shouldn’t add in it in? It would only be for a few chapters at most and then, maybe some guest appearances later on. So, leave a review to let me know.
More Notes: It might take a while because I need to track down my Hellsing DVDS.
