Ohio, On the road somewhere in Hamilton

Dean groaned as yet another one of the songs Sam liked to listen to played on the radio. He so regretted betting with his brother about how Ellen would react to his being back. Really who could predict the woman would force him to meet with some girl named Buffy in order to better deal with his ‘death’. Damn how he didn’t want to be here, but if it meant facing an enraged Ellen or just getting this over with, he’d choose the latter.

My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day's a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride

Dean swallowed, as he tried to steer his mind away from the memories of his last few days before he went to Hell. He did not want to think about Hell, or anything connected to it. He did not want to think about what he did there.

“Why don’t we check out the cemetery, see if there’s something to hunt.” Dean suggested to his brother.

Sam glanced at Dean wondering why his brother suddenly wanted to go hunting without first checking to see if there even was anything. Still he did as he brother said and took the next exit towards the cemetery. “You think there’s anything here?” he questioned his brother.

Dean smiled, “I hope so.”

Ohio, Hamilton,

“So why are we heading out here again?” Faith questioned her blonde sister Slayer.

Buffy sighed, “Because we’re trying to build relations with the Hunters and this Ellen had good contacts that will earn us points with them.”

“Ok, I get that, but why us? Why couldn’t Giles or little D. have gone?” inquired Faith.

Buffy bit her lip, “Because Ellen asked for me. She said something about a Hunter having a been-brought-back-from-the-dead experience and he needed someone to talk to about it.”

Faith raised an eyebrow, “So you’re playing therapist to some traumatized Hunter, that still doesn’t explain why I had to go with you.”

Buffy scowled, “I’m not gonna play therapist, I’m just gonna listen to what he has to say and then basically tell him to forget about it and get over it. As for why you had to come. I’m not sitting in a car with Dawn for any longer than I have to. She’d control the radio and make me listen to her sucky boybands. Plus with you the meeting is bound to be at least interesting.”

Faith smirked at the blonde, “Speaking off let’s have us some real tunes.” Faith switched from the radio to cd-player.

“Faith no!” Buffy yelled to late, but the damage was done and Dawn’s Nickelback cd began to play.

“B., you listen to this?” the brunette Slayer wanted to know.

“No, this is Dawn’s. She screwed up the radio and somehow got the cd stuck in the player. And what’s worse we can’t switch it back to the radio unless I switch it back after I turned the car off and start it again.” Explained Buffy.

Faith rolled her eyes, “You could have warned a girl.”

Buffy just let out a sigh in response.

Buffy tried not to think about the first time she thought would be her last day. She’d had to face down the Master and she was so scared back then. Still... she overcame her fear long enough to go with the Anointed One towards the Master and according to prophecy certain death. Of course fear had caught up with her when her crossbow failed and she had to actually face the Master.

“You know, this song kinda reminds me of us, though its clearly more about you than me. Since you’ve actually kicked the bucket, twice.” Faith told her.

Buffy glared at the brunette and was glad to pull into the cemetery. She noticed a old looking black car parked there already along with a van and two other cars.

“Busy day for the dead,” Buffy spoke up as she turned off the engine after putting it next to the old black car.

“Sweet car though, ’67 Impala,” Faith said as she got out and slid her hand over said car. “nicely maintained by the looks of it.”

Buffy rolled her eyes, “Here,” she called out tossing Faith an axe before picking a crossbow from the back seat.

Faith caught the axe whithout looking as her attention remained on the car. “Any chance we run into that Hunter Ellen asked you to treat.”

“I’m not his therapist and who knows. Ellen said this Dean Winchester and his brother Sam don’t usually prowl the graveyards without reason. They’re more the research first then go kill the bad kinda guys.” Buffy informed the brunette as the two headed towards the gate and entered the cemetery.

“Brother? How old are theses Hunters and are they hot?” inquired Faith.

Buffy shrugged, “Our age-ish I think and I have no idea. All Ellen said was that the older was short and the younger really tall.”

“Which one is the one with the back from the dead issues?” questioned Faith.

“The shorter one I think. Ellen also said to try and ignore his foot in the mouth disease.” Buffy answered.

Faith grinned, “Well then, if they’re hot I have dibs on the tall one and you can have the shorter emotionally crippled ass.”

“Right, like anything is ever gonna happen with Dean and I? Buffy and guys are unmixy things. Like Buffy and alcohol.” Buffy told the brunette.

“You never know B. since he’s a Hunter he’d at least understand your life and not try to change who you are. Not to mention you two have that whole death and back thing in common.” Faith told her with a knowing smile, then frowned, “do you hear music?”

“You never know Dean, this Buffy may be able to help you..., you might even like her.” Sam told her older brother.

“Right a girl named Buffy can understand my life,” Dean snorted, “She’ll probably died on her first job and just uses it to brag to others about how she’s already been dead and came back.”

“I don’t know Dean, Ellen said this woman has been hunting for over 10 years, seven of which she spent on a supernatural hotspot fighting all kind of evil on a nightly bases. You shouldn’t judge her just on her name. She might actually take advantage of people underestimating her based on her name.” argued Sam.

Dean rolled his eyes and was about to respond when he heard a familiar song. “Sammy, tell me you locked my baby.”

Sam was about to respond that he did when the same music reached his ear. “I locked the car Dean. There was a van parked there. Maybe some kids are having a party out here.” He suggested.

“A party in a graveyard? People just keep getting smarter huh?” Dean rhetorically asked, but nevertheless the two made their way over to the direction the music came from.

“Don’t tell me some vamps are having a party out here?” Buffy asked nobody in particular.

Faith grinned, “let’s crash it.”

As the Slayers went through a pair of bushes, expecting a vampire raving, they spotted group of kids cheering. Set up near a mausoleum was all kinds of equipment hooked up to what looked like a large power cell.

Buffy stood there dumbstruck, “It’s a regular party.”

“Geez, what’s with kids these days, no respect for the dead.” Faith commented.

Buffy nodded in agreement, but found her thoughts going with the song back to her second death. It signified so many things for her, her end of naivety regarding her relationship with Angel, being dead tired of fighting and finally finding peace, leaving her sister and friends behind and giving her sister a gift at life, a normal life. Though the normal part never happened.

So do whatever it takes
'Cause you can't rewind a moment in this life
Let nothing stand in your way
'Cause the hands of time are never on your side

Dean came up from behind the party, “it’s just a bunch of kids.” He said in relief, finally putting his worry over his baby to rest.

“Yeah, some without any values. Who throws a party at a cemetery?” Sam complained as he glared at the teenagers having a blast.

“You think that’s bad? What about the music they listen to? It’s the same crap you listen to.” Dean retorted.

Sam rolled his eyes and in turn caught sight of two women. “Looks like the kids have chaperones for this little get-together.”

Dean inwardly groaned, why couldn’t he escape this song. It made him think about thing he’d rather not think about. He heard Sammy comment about chaperones and scanned the crowd until his eyes rested on a brunette and blonde.

He followed Sammy over to the two, his eyes taking in the forms of the two women appreciatory before he met the blonde’s eyes and stopped walking in shock as to what he saw.

He watched the woman meet his eyes and the same shock settle in her green eyes as they did in his. A kindred spirit, “I don’t think they’re chaperoning this Sammy.”

“No? What makes you say that?” Sam inquired.

“I think they’re Hunters, I’m pretty sure the blonde is Buffy.” Dean elaborated.

“Huh? What makes you say that?” questioned Sam.

“Because I’m Buffy, and that’s Faith. And we’re not Hunters, we’re Slayers.” Buffy clarified before Dean could answer, her Slayer hearing having picked up the conversation.

“The Chosen Two,” Faith added, “Let me guess Sam and Dean Winchester.”

Before the two could answer, a crash and a scream caught the fours attention. “Look like the vamps decided to crash the party.” Faith stated.

“Does it make me a bad person if I say maybe they’ll scare some sense into them. I mean really a party in a graveyard!” Buffy commented.

Dean smirked, “not at all, as long as you don’t let it get in the way of the job.”

Buffy grinned in return, “Never, the mission is what matters.”

Faith ripped a vamp off from a teenager girl he was about to snack on. “I don’t think your food agrees with you,” she quipped.

“Luckily for you, I don’t need them to agree with me,” the vampire shot back before charging Faith and a moment later turning into dust.

Dean watched the little blonde kick ass, he’d have to look up what exactly a Slayer was. But he liked what he saw so far. A hot blonde that could not only hold her own in a fight, but totally kick ass. His groin twitched and pants tightened as he saw the blonde execute a particular move. Instinct kicked in and he ducked under a vampire lunging at him, using his momentum against him he threw the vamp to the ground and cut off its head with his machete.

After the fight was over Dean spotted Buffy walking up to the scared kids who had not yet run away, “This is what you get for disrespecting the dead. Now, I suggest you take this experience to heart and grow.” She lectured them before turning and walking off.

After checking for Sam and seeing him not only alright but blushing red about something the brunette was telling him. Dean followed the blonde, no way was he gonna let the blonde get away.

He found her not far from the party-site, leaning against a tree. “Let me guess, Faith’s hitting on your brother?” she asked him.

Dean grinned, “she do that a lot?”

Buffy shrugged, “Not as much after Robin, but it’s good she playing the field again. I was starting to worry.”

“How about you? How long it’s been since you were playing the field?” questioned Dean.

Buffy smiled in response, “it’s different with me, I’m not done baking yet. Still cookie dough- and I suddenly wish I’d picked a better metaphor.”

“Oh I don’t know about that, I’d say you look like a great cookie.” Dean responded.

This time Buffy laughed and Dean took that as his cue and stepped closer to her and pulled her into a kiss.

Buffy felt herself melt away in the kiss the moment the Hunter’s lips touched her own. Hungrily she raised her arms and wrapped them around his neck all the while deepening the kiss.

When the broke apart after a good few minute the smiled at one and other. “Well, I wasn’t expecting that.” Buffy commented. “But we really shouldn’t do that again until we’ve talked.”

“Talking’s overrated.” Dean responded and leaning in for another kiss, but Buffy held him back.

“Heaven or Hell?” she questioned and at his confused look she elaborated, “were you in Heaven or in Hell?”

Dean was silent for a few minutes and stepped away from Buffy and sat down on a large rock. “Hell, you?”

“Heaven, but I have an ex who went to Hell. How long were you there?”

“I was dead four months,” Dean answered.

“Try that on someone who doesn’t know about Hell. Four months, that’s forty years if I remember correct. You’re a very strong person to still be even slightly like the person you remember being before.” Buffy told him.

Dean started at her, “You don’t know, you don’t know what I did.”

“No, I don’t. And I don’t expect you to tell me in all its gory details either. When I got back, it felt like this life here was Hell. Back there I was at peace loved and warm, I was done and I knew everyone I cared about would be okay. When I came back, I had to go out at night to fight the undead and other demons again. I had to be the Slayer again. At one point I got poisoned by a demon who made me believe I was still in an institution my parents put me in years ago when I first told them about vampires…” Buffy continued to tell Dean about how badly she dealt with her life when was back. Never standing still that she had the man’s full attention, something other people rarely got from him.
