Author's Note: This 100-word drabble was for the November 2, 2003, Sunday100 challenge at LiveJournal: "I don't think we've done anything like this one before; hopefully it'll be a fun experiment. *g* Take your favorite quote from any episode. Write a drabble in which a *different character* says the quote. The quote doesn't have to count towards your word count, if you'd prefer."
Disclaimer: Clearly, I'm not Joss Whedon. If I were, I would own Giles. And I wouldn't share. Ever. I would, however, share the rest of the characters and world of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. If, that is, I were Joss Whedon. Since I'm not, the best I can say is that I've borrowed the characters.
The drabble is set during S6 of BtVS, the quote is from S3.
~*~*~'Wretched, arrogant child. So smug in her assumptions, she's Ethan at his worst,' thinks Giles as he finally exits the kitchen.
"Mr. Giles?" Tara stands there, all but trembling in the face of his anger. She says, "It's been difficult for Willow since Buffy died. You mustn't blame her.
He looks at her fully, now, and with an unpleasant smile, he says, "I don't. I blame you, Ms. McClay."
She tries to stammer a denial, but he continues, "Of all of them, you alone know how dangerous resurrection is. You stopped Dawn, but you let Willow go on? You idiot!"
