I own nothing - if I did, I wouldn’t have cancelled the TP.
Buffy sat down at the kitchen table next to Adam. "So Adam, I heard you got bitten by a shark."
"I had my knife with me but I couldn't bring myself to use it. Tomorrow People can’t kill even to save themselves, which is why I rarely patrol with you - I won’t be of much help except for transportation."
"Is that when you first teleported?"
“It wasn’t? You weren’t already a Tomorrow Person were you?”
“No, I became a Tomorrow Person a while later, but the instinct was still there. Luckily, I was able to get away.”
“Wait. I thought people became a Tomorrow Person during periods of intense stress or fear. Willow said something about adrenaline acting as a Cadillac or some mumbo-jumbo. So what could be scarier then a shark attack? Well, other then demons and leisure suits or demons in leisure suits. ”
Adam looked down at his coffee and for the first time really regretted moving to Cleveland. He mumbled something under his breath.
Unfortunately, Buffy’s enhanced hearing caught what he wi--- hoped would be missed.
“You were at the Dentist when you first teleported?” Buffy’s face was incredulous.
“Wait, were you in the chair?”
He nodded again - looking as if he wanted to disappear but was trying not to.
“I was at the dentist for a root canal, and just as he was about to jab me. I landed in the sea.”
“So you were more scared of the dentist then the shark?”
“Yeah” He stirred his coffee and tried not to teleport because she would only make him tell the story (in detail) the next time he saw her and probably make him tell it in front of the rest of the Scoobies.
“So then what happened?”
“I swam to the island and found the ship. After realizing what I had become, I explored the ship and eventually fell asleep. When I woke up the toothache was completely gone. I realized sometime after the ship healed Kevin that the ship must have healed it while I slept. At least it hasn’t hurt since then.”
“Wait, does this mean that you haven’t been to the dentist since you became a Tomorrow Person - that must be what 5 years? Not even for a checkup?”
“Did you miss the fact that I actually teleported from the chair?”
“Wait - you have fought aliens, mutant mosquitos and crazy old ladies with machine guns, but you are still scared of the dentist?”
“Yeah.” Adam looked down ashamed to meet her eyes.
Adam looked up.
“Do you think your ship could fix my tooth too? Its been bothering me for a couple months, now.”
“Wait, does this mean that you who has fought vampires, demons, hell gods, and the embodiment of evil itself, are afraid of dentists?”
“What can I say? If it were rational, they wouldn’t call it a phobia.”
Adam laughed as he stood and held out his hand for her. “Come on - let’s go besides the ship has been dying to take a closer look at you.”
