Traps and Explosions

A/n: I know short but I thought, what would happen if one of the other Q had interfered with the creation of the weapons chests?

Previously.....

"No salt water!" Giles half shouted from his bed, causing Janet to quickly raise her hand freezing the nurses in place. "The salt water will mix with the goop and make an unstable substance. When I used it on mine I accidentally made nitroglycerine. Randolf, on the other hand made mint ice cream using the exact same water on his own goop."

Traps and Explosions

Elsewhere in the SGC....

The NID operative wasn't entirely happy about his latest orders. Oh, the chaos that was happening around the base was helpful for fulfilling his latest orders but it was also dangerous. He'd learned that the hard way. Chaos at the SGC meant that something was happening, something that might be putting the planet at risk and if he was smart about it he'd make certain that SG-1 would be able to handle it even if the rest of them couldn't. What Senator Kinsey had been doing establishing standing orders for the destruction of SG-1 as soon as it was feasible was beyond him but orders were orders. He just hoped that it never became feasible to eliminate SG-1 and friends. As it stood now to even try would spark an intergalactic war with earth at its heart. The planet would be dead within hours. The operative shook himself out of his musings and went back to picking the lock on one of the weapons trunks that had been given to SG-1 and their visitors. He didn't have time to think it was odd to feel the lock slip to the side just a tad before the explosion engulfed him and the rest of the store room in which all of the gifted weapons chests had been stored. Everything, including the unfortunate operative's body, was incinerated in the blast as it rocked the entire mountain and released a cloud of harmless radiation particles with unique properties and triggered a spell both of which caused almost a complete blackout interference in the sensor readings of the SGC for both the Asgard ships and the two Federation ships. It would take 6 months for the interference cloud to dissipate enough for even basic sensor readings to get through.

The only explanation that anyone could come up with was that the chests had been tampered with and someone who wasn't aware of this had tried to break into one of them. Everyone was glad that more lives hadn't been lost and many shuddered to think what might have happened if one or all of them had gone off during a party or in the middle of a fight and they weren't prepared for it. The slaughter would have been horrendous. No one considered the fact that since Q had been watched maybe so had Q jr. and maybe instead of stopping him they'd tampered with his gifts rather then trying to outright kill Xander, make the entire thing look like an accident. No one thought that there might be an extra reason why the orbiting starships couldn't read through the cloud of radiation and spell work. After all the SGC was used to working in the dark without sensors weren't they?....
