McGee faces his past

Disclaimer: *looks around* Nope, I can't find the sale bills saying I own any of the stuff I'm playing with. Too bad – they're fun!!! ^^

I don't own Hocus Pocus, NCIS or B:tVS, or anything else which is another's recognized work and happens to make its way into this sorry. And I'm not making any money from them – this is just for fun!

Now betaed by CorruptedSmile! Or at least this chapter is, anyway. I’ll be uploading the correctly betaed chapters as I get them back and as they are written.

Challenge: For challenge 3286. A belated b-day gift.
Secondary Challenge: For challenge 3689. I just realized this qualifies, sorta. See chapter 13 aka Parenthood!!!! For qualification. *evil smirk*

Story: Magic Bait Turned NCIS.

Chapter one: McGee Faces His Past.

"Tony! Enough!" Ziva yelled, finally having had enough of Tony's teasing. Her yell jolted McGee out of his reverie – just in time for him to get off the elevator and into the car with his team mates. They were heading to yet another crime scene – this time in Salem, Massachusetts. Only this one was supposed to be a bit on the weird side.

Tony, of course, kept teasing Ziva, until Gibbs got annoyed enough to get on his case. Then the rest of the three-hour drive was spent in relative silence. Ducky was still following in the coroner's van behind them.

---

Salem, Massachusetts was one of the last places on earth McGee had ever wanted to go to again. Seeing the sign for the town – and, oddly enough, the black cat sitting beneath it – then watching them drive by it, he suddenly flashed back as to why he didn't like Salem.

** Memory **

It was Halloween night again and he had just lit the candle, awakening the Sanderson sisters – asking them to come once more to plague the town and putting all the children at risk. The Sanderson sisters were true witches. To stay young they had to suck the very life force out of children – they always did so after feeding them a potion.

---

It had taken them all night, but eventually McGee, his sister and the girl he had liked at the time were finally able to defeat the three sisters – sending them back where they belonged.

** Memory Ends **

McGee shivered, coming out of his memories of that night just as they pulled up to the scene of the crime. Except, that there was nothing there. And the place? Why it was the old Sanderson place. The very place which he had summoned those witches from all of those years ago.

---

"Hey! Come back here!" Tony suddenly shouted. They saw him bolt after a blond teenager who tried to run. She got a few steps before Tony tackled her, but she threw him off her like a rag doll. Tony landed a good ten feet away, but Ziva already had her gun out and at the ready.

"You do not want to do that," Ziva said, pointing her weapon at the girl. The girl froze as soon as she saw the weapon.

"You okay, DiNozzo?" Gibbs asked Tony. The latter didn’t look up at his boss.

"Yeah, boss." he wheezed from his position on the ground.

"Hey, boss! I see a bit ash near where she was standing. She has gotten it all over her." McGee yelled, after noticing said ash.

"What were you trying to do, kid?! What are you running from? And how the hell did you toss DiNozzo like that?!" Gibbs demanded to know from the blonde.

---

Suddenly a voice came from inside the cottage. "Buffy?! Help!"

"Hang on, Willow, I'm coming!" the girl shouted back. She turned to Gibbs and said, "Either help me get my friend out of there or stay out of my way!" After having said that, she turned and ran back towards the front door of the cottage.

"Wait! There's another way in," McGee said, which made Buffy stop and made everyone else look at him. He answered the unspoken question. "I lived around here for awhile. There used to be a water wheel here. The window near it is big enough to let us in."

"Go!" Gibbs said. "Ziva, stay with the kid."

At that moment, the door burst open and three women came out – a blonde, skinny lady; a plump redhead and an even plumper brunette with a twisted lip – dragging a redheaded teenager – about the same age as Buffy – out the front door. McGee paled as soon as he saw them.

"It’s the Sanderson sisters," he said in shock.

"What?!" Gibbs whirled and looked at the member from his team, a threatening look in his eyes.

---

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" the redheaded sister asked, a gleeful look on her face; making Gibbs turn back to them.

"More people to play with," the blonde one declared.

"Oh, goody! They look so yummy!" the brunette said, while the captive teen, who was obviously Willow, continued to struggle.

"How did you old hags get back? I thought we sent you off properly that Halloween night." McGee demanded to know.

"Well, this is a surprise. Max, isn’t it?" the redhead asked. McGee remembered her name was Winifred.

"Not anymore, I’m not. I'm not the same kid who had to fight you off. You won’t be doing it again. So, which spell in that blasted book of yours did you use to bring yourselves back this time?" McGee demanded bitterly.

"You've faced them before?" Buffy asked him.

"Yeah, when I was a kid. I made the mistake of lighting their stupid candle as a virgin and they tried to drain my sister's life force – as well as the ones of most of the other kids in town," McGee started to explain, while keeping a wary eye on the Sanderson’s. "I wound up stopping them – finally – by delaying them long enough for the spell to wear off and nearly got killed while trying to protect my sister – and everyone else in town – from them, but we managed. One thing I know about coming back from the dead – by using the spells written in a book bound in human skin – they won’t be affected by our guns."

"McGee! Magic isn't real," Gibbs reminded him.

"You haven't ever dealt with real magic before, boss. But let me tell you, these three are the real deal. Evil witches to the core," McGee countered.

"Hey! Not all witches are evil!" Willow cried out.

"Be quiet." the brunette sister demanded. McGee now remembered her name was Mary, while the blonde was named Sarah.

"She would know. Willow's a witch too," Buffy explained.

Taking advantage of the temporary distraction, McGee moved in and knocked out Winifred. Seeing him move, Buffy got Sarah, while Ziva got Mary.

"Are you certain that there is magic involved?" Ziva asked.

"Ziva, the Sanderson sisters died over a hundred years ago. And I was there when they died the second time fifteen years ago. Only – when they died those fifteen years ago – a few of their longer lasting spells were still around and those broke when they died," McGee answered.

"Oops," Willow said worriedly.

"Willow?" Buffy asked, turning towards her friend.

"I think this is my fault." She quickly continued as Buffy started giving her that look."It was an accident! Honest! I thought I was exorcising the house, not summoning the former residents!"

"Great! So, how do we send them back?" Buffy asked.

"It should wear off in about five minutes. I'm not very good at ghost stuff yet," Willow answered.

"Great, I'll call Giles. You get the transport spell ready. As soon as these three are back where they belong, I want to get out of here," Buffy said, reaching for her phone.

"Nobody's going anywhere!" Gibbs declared resolutely. He had just finished talking when the Sanderson sisters disappeared.

"Let’s go, Buffy," Willow said.

"Coming," she said.

Buffy walked over to Willow and grabbed her hand. Together they turned and jumped through the portal Willow had summoned. It snapped shut behind them. Gibbs, Ziva, Tony and McGee all just sort of stared at the place where the two teens had disappeared into thin air.

---

"I vote for saying that it was a false alarm and not reporting any of the weirdness that just happened," Tony spoke up.

"Fine," Gibbs said, just as Ducky pulled up in the van.

"Sorry, Jethro, I took a wrong turn. So, where's the body?" Ducky asked, looking around.

"Ducky, we're calling this one a false alarm," Gibbs told him, hesitating then. "You know how I hate Hocus Pocus Live."

"Oh, dear." Ducky was silent for a moment. "Anything we need to deal with or are we not worrying about it?"

"We aren't worrying about it. Let's go." Gibbs got in the car and everyone else got into one of the vehicles. They went back to work on something a little bit closer to normal.

End chapter one.
