Summary: Andrew and Charlie sitting in a tree ... Slash.

Story: Of geeks and dragons. Or should that be dragon tamers?

Charlie looked at the blond young man talking a mile a minute at him. Because no, no conversation was being had here. It was all him. Yet he smiled indulgently at the guy, because he was ... well, cute really. Cute and definitely geeky, but he didn’t mind that. It wasn’t too often that someone would come up to talk to him, or even at him as was the case here. He never understood why people would be intimidated by his line of work.

“So anyway,” Andrew babbled. “I’m so glad to have met you. You’re the first person I’ve met who works with actual, real life dragons. And not with ones on a screen like in video games and movies. Your job can’t possibly get any better. This is so cool!”

“Would you like to see the dragons some time?” Charlie asked Andrew, smiling widely.

“Oh my God,” Andrew squealed excitedly. “Are you serious? Please tell me you’re serious. That would be amazing. Totally awesome. I mean, seriously awe-inspiring. Seeing actual dragons flying around? Wow ...” He drifted off for a minute.

“Yes, I’m serious,” Charlie laughed, glad to see Andrew fall quiet at last. There was only so much babble a man could take. “What about next Saturday? Say 6pm? Free then?”

“I’m so free,” Andrew gushed. “This will be totally ...”

“Marvellous, fabulous, spectacular?” Charlie finished the sentence, grinning broadly.

“Yes!” Andrew beamed at Charlie.

This guy was so nice to him. There used to be a time when a guy looking like Charlie wouldn’t even want to be seen talking to him, let alone want to be seen with him ... in public. Let alone invite him to do something together! On the inside Andrew was preening a bit. He had really moved up in the world ever since High School had ended.

“It’s a date then.” Charlie grinned and jumped out the tree they had been sitting in for the last fifteen minutes. “We should probably go, I think. Free music, alcohol and food. Let’s get this party started.”

Andrew gaped at him. Had he heard it right? A date? A date with Charlie? He quickly jumped out the tree and hurried after him. A date with Charlie ...

He suddenly stopped walking. Oh God, what was he going to wear? Shaking his head, he broke into a run, he had enough time to think about what he should wear. For now, he should get to know Charlie better. Lots of time at this party for that.

He stopped again. Maybe he should find a way to fend off any other candidates vying for Charlie’s attention? Surely he would be able to invent something like that? He used to be a bad guy, for crying out loud. How difficult could this be?

He conveniently forgot that his short stint as bad guy hadn’t ended that well. He once again started running after Charlie. Enough time to think about all that later. Now he had a man to catch.

End.

A/N: Something short and sweet in answer to the challenge. At the same time this could be seen as part of my Love is ...-series. But it’s just as good as a standalone.

Reviews are appreciated if you have constructive criticism or simply a “well done” for me. Flames are not something I like. If you don’t like it, don’t leave me anything. Any and all flames will be mocked, no exceptions. You have been warned.
