Answering Challenge 959: 4-Letter-Drabble-Challenge – It’s hard to keep stuff up when the tools doing the job fails, with help from an overgrown ape.
Xander was proud of his diploma. It took a long time to get it, but he finally had it. It was an official college diploma which stated that he had successfully completed the mandatory educational requirements to receive a valid Bachelor of Arts Degree.
Bachelor of Arts meaning a varied education and it was the kind of degree that had vast disciplines underneath. You basically needed one if you wanted to further your education into the Masters or PHD levels, but it certainly helped to get you a better paying job. It was better than just having a High-School Diploma, but Xander was proud that he had that one too.
When Xander had first moved in his degrees were hung on his office wall with the only nails that he could find at the time, three crooked ones. The walls were not in such great shape either, but that could have been because of that great big ape that kept climbing up the side of the building.
Xander opened the window and yelled, “Hey Kong, park it why don’tcha? My stuff is gonna fall off of the walls again.”
Kong’s voice boomed down, “Easy there short stuff. You ain’t the only one with the problem. It’s not my fault that I have to climb the Empire State Building every day.”
“Yeah, yeah, I get it,” Xander said shutting the window and mumbling to himself. “Penance sure sucks,” he mumbled petulantly, as his Diploma slid off the nail and fell to the floor.
