Totally just realized I never completed this. As I dislike having such a simple premise unfinished, I'll be posting this one now and the last one in a few days. :DA/N 2:
I cannot tell you how tempted I was to make the fifth Richard Castle, just cause of the obvious look-alike issues. However, I vowed when I began I would go girl-boy-girl-boy-girl so...next best thing! (the next best thing being Kate since Bailey actually played the boyfriend in S1).Kate Beckett
“So what do you think?” Graham asked, eying his girlfriend across the living room of the Sineya Estate.
“Dawn likes her, obviously,” Xander responded dryly and Graham chuckled; the key was currently deep in discussion with Kate about shopping and the best way to get deals on cute clothes in New York, with Giles pretending to listen next to them. “And she didn't bat an eye at Illyria so, you know bonus points!”
“You should see her in interrogation...or with Castle,” Graham smiled. “Other than that?”
“She's...well, don't take this the wrong way, but for a mundane, she's already ten times better than that Cole guy you thought was so hot.”
“If you recall, Cole turned out to be half-demon...” he pointed out with a wince and Xander made a face.
“Good point,” he agreed. “Alright, out of all the people you've brought around, she's in the top ten.”
“There hasn't even been ten!”
“Graham?” Kate asked, coming over. “I think I bored Mr. Giles enough; he and Dawn are talking about shopping for furniture. It sounded like shop talk so I decided to let them discuss it without me.”
“Good idea,” Xander told her with a grin. “Dawn was raised in Southerin California; the girl knows her shopping, even for things like furniture.”
“You're Xander, right? Graham's told me a lot about you, its nice to meet you in person,” Kate said, shaking the carpenter's hand.
“It better have been all good,” Xander said, mock scowling. She smiled, eyes amused.
“Mostly,” she agreed and Xander turned to him with a stern look on his face.
“Have you been telling tales out of turn, Mr. Miller?” he asked. Graham smirked.
“Nothing too embarrassing,” he assured him mockingly. “Just little things...like the time you walked into a wall because you saw Giles kissing Annabeth.”
“Giles is old
, he should not be kissing
“Or about the time you tried out for the swim team and had to wear a tiny little speedo.”
“How'd you even hear about that?!”
“Or the time you accidentally got a classmate to come out to when you accidentally made him think you were gay too,” Graham added, thankful, as always, for Buffy and Willow's blabber mouths when drunk.
Xander squeaked at him and Kate laughed. “Don't worry, I've had to do some...interesting things in my line of work, a speedo and accidental confessions are nothing,” Kate assured him, smiling wryly.
“What have you had to do?” Xander asked, now looking intrigued. Graham laughed at Kate's dry answer.
“Besides dealing with a insane writer who consistently acts like a nine year old on a sugar high and whom I'm convinced is being raised by his daughter?”
Graham chuckled as she launched into a story of one of Castle's escapades, having a riveting audience in Xander and Giles, who'd come over to listen half-way through. Just as she finished, Andrew came into the room, did a double-take at Kate, and then shrieked:
“OH MY GOD, IT'S NIKKI HEAT!”
