Chapter 19

Disclaimer: Standard. Joss, ME, et al own everything Buffy, David Weber owns everything Honor, I'm taking them out for a drive and making nothing from it.

Approximately a year later

"Honestly, Buffy, you'd think that you were going into battle," Dawn said as she straightened her sister's dress. "Instead of getting married to the people that you trust most in the world."

"I know, Dawn, it's just - what if we're getting ready for the wrong reasons? What if Honor is making sure that the Slayer's in her camp? What if -"

"Stop!" Dawn smirked at Buffy. "You know that none of that's true. You're just trying to play the 'pitiful Buffy' card. You know that they love you. That they all love you." One more button, and..."Done." She turned Buffy around and gave her a push. "Go on, you don't want to be late for your wedding!"

All seven of the brides and bridegrooms were situated in a semi-circle, with a Hi-D camera floating above them all, and Emily resting in her chair. The Archbishop Robert Telmachi stood in front of them all, and read from the Bible on the subject of love, and marriage, and relationships. Catching Buffy rolling her eyes, his small smile widened into a grin. "Is someone a bit antsy?" he asked.

"Honor, you have brave churchmen," she said. "I mean, to tempt someone who's already been to Heaven to send him there..." An elbow stopped her from going on.

"Ahem," he said. "Now, for the good part." He turned to Buffy. "Buffy Anne Summers, do you take Honor Stephanie Alexander-Harrington, and the rest of those assembled here, to be your spouse and mate, until death parts you?"

"I do."

"Place the ring on her finger."

"Honor, as the smallest token of my - of our constant love, respect, and devotion, with this ring, I wed you."

"Honor Stephanie Alexander-Harrington, do you take Willow Danielle Rosenberg, and the rest of those assembled here, to be your spouse and mate, until death parts you?"

"I do." Honor's voice was husky.

"Place the ring on her finger."

"Willow, as the smallest token of our constant love, respect, and devotion, with this ring, I wed you."

"Willow Danielle Rosenberg..." the ceremony made its way around the semi-circle, until -

"Emily Alexander-Harrington, do you take Buffy Anne Summers, and the rest of those assembled here, to be your spouse and mate, until death parts you?"

"I do."

"Place the ring on her finger."

To murmurs, assorted gasps, and an, "Oh, my God," that could be traced to the Empress, Lady Emily Alexander-Harrington, Countess White Haven, Steadholder Consort Harrington, stood up, and with the assistance of the Archbishop, made her way over to Buffy, where she use her gloved left hand to slip the ring on Buffy's hand.

"Buffy, as the smallest token of our constant love, respect, and devotion, with this ring, I wed you." With that, she made her way back to her chair, supported by Buffy.

The Archbishop turned to the congregation and said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to introduce to you, Buffy Summers-Scooby, Honor Harrington-Scooby, Willow Rosenberg-Scooby, Rupert Giles-Scooby, Hamish Alexander-Scooby, Alexander Harris-Scooby, and Emily Alexander-Scooby, the Scooby family!"

At the reception, Elizabeth had the entire group gather around. "Honor," she said, almost exasperated, "You make me get creative in presents, you know that?"

Honor blushed and looked at the floor.

"Oh, don't be such a ninny." She looked over the whole group. "Thanks to each of you, we're still here, and likely to be so for a long time. In addition, there is such parity in the galaxy that the likelihood of war is very, very small." She looked up at her Admiral. "Honor, you're fired." Seeing her face fall, Elizabeth smiled. "Relax, it's not because you did anything wrong." Her expression softened. "Honor, you've just gained a family, and you have two children, already, to bring up. We have enough competent people to run my Navy for me, and I need you elsewhere." She waved her scepter. "I name you Archduchess of Lynx. There's plenty of land, and plenty of resources there to sustain you, and you'll be a day away if we need you." Smiling, she continued. "You all work out between you what the succession order is. But I need a presence in the Cluster, and you're it. I also want to build an Advanced Tactical Course there, to give us two schools of thought, if we can. And yes, we've cleared this with Benjamin."

She took Honor's hand. "Honor, if we need you, we'll call you back, but please take this time to take care of yourself and your family."

Honor's mouth quirked up. "Well, I can't very well refuse."
