Begin Interim Objective

Alas, the Fic Flake has struck again. I've got some serious strangeness afoot here, so keep an open mind. (Although I will say that it's difficult to write LongFic when half the time you're writing narrative text for an entity that's the embodiment of brevity.)

This is going to be my Fic-A-Day submission for 2010.

1. Write one fic per day during August. Stories should be BtVS/Angel Crossovers of any rating with any fandom, minimum 300 words, maximum 3000 words.
2. Entries must be posted here in the TwistedShorts Comm to be counted.
3. Post more than one a day if you want, but only one fic per 24 hours counts toward the challenge. Backdating fics are not allowed for getting a fic to count within a 24 hour period.
4. There's no 'miss a day and you're out'. If you can't post one day that doesn't mean you're out of the running. Keep posting when you get a chance.
5. Winners will be decided by who has posted the most during the month. I.E. If Author A posts 28 fics on 28 days, Author B posts 31 fics on 31 days, and Author C posts 25 fics on 25 days, then Author B wins.**Please see the new challenge rules for further details.
6. Regular posting rules apply: proper header, fic behind cut, adult rated fic comm-locked, disclaimer, etc.
7. Have fun :)

Secondary rules: To spice things up, we've instituted a weekly theme to challenge writers even further. Prizes will be awarded for those that successfully complete the weekly-themed prompt challenge.

Buffy: Belongs to Joss.
Terminator: Belongs to Warner Brothers.
Assorted foolishness: MINEZ!

Once the two minute restart sequence completed, Cameron stood up in the crater that the Time Displacement Equipment caused with its temporal bubble. The electrical discharge caused by the field was somewhat detrimental to terminators.

Cameron noted that she could safely maintain the standing order not to harm humans unless necessary. There were no witnesses to her time travel. She would have preferred to avoid having to inflict human casualties immediately after her restart. Raised headstones were in her immediate field of vision. She had arrived next to a graveyard. At least she wouldn't have to encounter any people before she could adequately clothe herself.

Cameron was just beginning to analyze which direction was most likely to have human inhabitants, when a pair of dirt covered arms wrapped around her from behind. She jerked her head sharply to one side, permitting her peripheral tracking to acquire an almost preposterous target. As she did so, the person growled primally and affixed its teeth to her neck.

Identify assailant: male, brown hair, eyes: yellow (anomaly), frayed formal wear. Disfiguration of the facial features: pronounced ridges on the forehead, protruding eyebrows, elongated canine teeth.

Body temperature: twenty degrees Celsius - ambient temperature.

Analysis: Assailant is not alive, possesses strength well beyond human norm for height and body mass - Termination authorized

In the milliseconds it took for Cameron to make that analysis, her attacker was already beginning to extricate himself from her, spitting and holding his hand over the front of his mouth. "Ow, jeez! What are you?" The being sounded offended by her.

"What are you?" Cameron asked, cocking her head to the side.

"Wha-? I'm a vampire, lady."

"Vampire. Mythical humanoid parasite, feeding on human blood; legend popularized with Vlad Dracula written by Bram Stoker."

The alleged vampire sneered. "I ain't a myth, lady. Vampires are real. Too bad you'll never get a chance to prove it."

Cameron blinked. "Thank you for explaining."

Accessing vampire literature: Death caused by sunlight, fire, holy water, wooden stake through the heart, decapitation. Repelled by running water, garlic and the Christian religious symbol, the crucifix.

Decapitation - only currently viable method of termination

The vampire charged forward, snarling and swinging as hard as he could. Cameron met the attack with an upraised forearm to ward off the punch - it wouldn't do to have her dermal layer damaged so early on in her mission. While the vampire was growling at the unexpected density of the slender female form in front of him, Cameron lashed out with her free hand. The vampire found himself sailing through the air to impact on a gravestone thirty feet away.

He staggered to his feet, a cut on his forehead open. "Slayer," he hissed. "I thought you were a blonde now."

"Slayer?" Cameron knew this word, but it wasn't often used as a proper noun.

"Yeah. Y'know, vampire slayer!" The vampire was looking uneasy.

"No. I am not a vampire slayer." Cameron would have corrected him further, but she was still in infiltration mode as her primary function and as such, could not reveal that she was a cyborg.

"Well, that's something." The vampire charged again. Cameron calculated from the previous attempt that the blow was not going to cause any undue splits in her epidermal layer this time. She simply let the vampire hit her. While the blow was enough to actually jostle her slightly, the only other result was a resounding sound of bone on metal as the vampire's knuckles cracked.

As the creature howled in pain, Cameron decided that the noise was sufficient to require immediate termination. The sound could draw the attention of human law enforcement. Using the more agile design of her frame, she took a short hop before taking the vampire down to the ground. Once down, she secured her legs around its neck and locked them in place. She began to inexorably pull and twist until the vampire's head was separated from its spine and neck. As it tore away, the vampire abruptly began to desiccate at a highly accelerated rate. Her audio sensors detected a faint wail as the being fell into ash.

Subject: Vampire - Terminated.
Begin interim objective: Obtain clothing and shelter. Infiltrate local educational institution database and register self as a student.

Cameron rose from the ground, brushed the dust from her bare legs and began to move toward the main population center. Along the way, she passed a sign that had recently been knocked to the ground.
