Renee Montoya really did have a thing for red heads. She had tried to swear off dating them after her disastrous break-up with her former girlfriend, socialite Kate Kane, but there was something about them that kept drawing her back to them like a moth to a flame. That was the only explanation she could think of for why she kept inadvertently hooking up with them whenever she was in a bar or a club.
It had been a long day at GCPD, longer than most, and she was sitting at the bar nursing a beer. She found her eye being drawn to a stunning red head, sitting between two equally beautiful, but not quite as interesting, women. Renee kept finding herself glancing over at their table before looking away awkwardly, trying not to draw too much attention to herself. She forced herself to keep looking at the wooden bar in front of her and not off into that corner again and again. She didn’t need another entanglement right now, not when the wounds Kate had left were still festering.
Footsteps approaching her interrupted her thoughts. Renee looked up and found the red head being frog marched between her companions towards her. The one on the right, a short blond, gave Renee a blinding smile before turning to her companion.
“Get yourself another drink on me, Wills,” she said, handing a bill to the stunned red head and turning to the other woman. “Faith and I will be out on the dance floor.” The brunette smirked at “Wills” and followed her friend onto the floor. Renee gave the woman a small smile before turning back to her drink, trying to avoid the fluttering feeling in her stomach.
“Carpe diem,” she heard her companion mutter under her breath before she felt a hand gently tap her on the shoulder. Looking up at her companion, the red head gave Renee a shy smile.
“Do you mind if I buy you a drink?” she asked nervously. Renee returned the smile after glancing down at her nearly empty bottle. She really did have a thing for cute red heads.
“Only if you tell me your name first.”
